New build idea for Dark/Kin, Untouchable killing machine!

Tah dah!

Main features is high defenses balanced with /kin dam/rech/end buff/recovery.
40.9% s/l def
once i17 goes live
Ranged will be at roughly 40%
AoE 35%
Fire/cold should be at roughly 30%
energy at 44%
Negative at 30%
the only real weakness will be psi mezzes that are positionless this is nothing new however
The little bit I fall short on defense will be easily recovered in the -tohit in dark/'s attacks, Tents does -11% on its own and NF does 7.5% both recharge before the debuff expires.

Should be pretty fun, any thoughts or changes you would make?

I think you sacrificed a lot to get that level of defense.

Also, with your global accuracy and your slotting in fulcrum shift, you better eat a few yellows first, otherwise you're going to be whiffing a lot with less than one SO's worth of accuracy.

Other than that neat concept build.

I seriously hope your character is already 50. There is no way you will get to 38 for FS with your anemic damage output of dark slotted like that, unless you like spending ages to do things.

Ditto this. Also I don't think Focussed Accuracy is really that good to warrant not slotting at least 1 acc/the accurate healing IOs in Transfusion. You really will not want that to miss as often as it probably will. Besides the acc issues, slotting the +end proc in Transference will actually give your enemies a shot of end, not you. Quirk of the power, and it's a fairly pricey IO to go to waste.

I'm not that experienced with Corruptors but my main toon is kinetics/sonic Defender, and I just preferred to maximise +recharge and use the many, many inspirations that drop as a result of fast combat instead of 'good' defence bonuses. Each to their own though

eh.. dark blast.. whats the point of being softcapped if you arent pumping out damage? i have a fire/kin/mace that i softcapped using alot of this build's tricks but also has rain of fire, fire breath, fireball and of course fulcrum shift up every group with no downtime. with web envelope to leverage rain of fire most things die in one chain of those attacks.

The damage difference between the two are minor, Fireblast has a 15-20% overall more damage then Darkblast but it lacks the Utility on its own. Web envelope is nice but I don't care to break concept and pull out a mace ever 15 seconds just to keep immo up. Thats also another power choice that can be used elsewhere.

Edit: Forgot to mention I have a Fire/Kin corr all ready.... And a Fire dark...and a Fire/fire blaster...and a dark/dark defender and corruptor..

i'm sure dark/kin would be plenty of fun, i played dark/thermal back in i6 and it was a great support build, all im saying is fire/kin is alot stronger for large scale damage and can acheive a similar level of safety from almost the same io sets.

your analysis/comparison is ignoring fire ball and in pve i cant remember the last time i have seen someone use flares except in the early game.

you could argue that dark blast is easier to proc out and squeeze a little more damage from there but on average fire blast still does more and can still take a couple of procs in its aoes as well. the little bit of to hit debuff is negligible when you can just as easily slot for more defense bonuses and reach the soft cap vs pve critters.

if this was just an experiment for fun dont let me stop you, fun>numbers. personally, i was thinking about doing a dp/kin for fun since it has so many cone/aoes, when i get some spare time.

You'd think that wouldn't you. :P

I tried combining the 2 in the beta and let me tell you, that is just too many clickies. There wasnt time to FS, I was too busy trying to kill things and heal myself. With so many buttons to push I just couldnt settle ona constant rotation, got really frustrated and just deleted the character. My Kin/Psy defender is similar in that it's coated in clickies, but at least as a defender I have less motivation to attack when I could be buffing/debuffing/controlling the fight.

This is the experience I had with Dark/Kin. Very click & position intensive, there's lots of repositioning needed to get the cones working well and Dark Blast sorta peaters out towards the end. Dark Blast really needs a Dark Melee style revamp of some sort. The overall Damage is pretty meh (the sea of orange numbers from the two cones is cool, but even they are a bit of work since they're different shapes, hideous in tight spaces).

The only things I would change about dark is to make Dark pit more then useless, make Life drain a tier 3 like blast and reduce end costs set wide, otherwise its damage is perfectly in line with the other sets including fire. Darkblast is really one of those sets that scourge really works with, since most of the damage is DOT.

I'm not saying Dark is perfect, but I find Dark Pit far from useless (once it's slotted up). I typically open with it and it really takes away the alpha from the majority of a spawn (within the radius of 20). I have it with an acc of 145%, 35 second recharge (before siphon speed), and a duration of 14 seconds and I'm quite happy with it. Before slotting it was rough, but that's true of a lot of AoE disorients which start off with a base 60% acc.

dark pit + tentacles + jump in the middle --> fulcrum shift --> jump back + night fall, tentacles (now spawn is going to start to wake up a bit, but de-buffed to ~15% tohit...don't recall if the -tohit stacks from the same attack) + night fall..rinse and repeat if necessary.

Useless maybe was abit extreme but a stun that barely gets minions down ((it is only really useful once combined with HT)) with as long a recharge as it has with the end cost associated with it.

To each their own I guess (perhaps it's a play style thing), but I love dark pit. Recharge and endurance issues with this power are non-existent when combined with kinetics. If I had hasten in my current build it would be up more then I'd know what to do with...I generally only need one application anyways to get the minions seeing stars and generally that's all I need (I'm already soft capped, before dark blast's -tohit comes in).

Far as I know DoT doesn't work like that. Basically it's baked into ToHit checks, but both Nightfall and Tentacles only do one at the start, so only one scourge check.

Rains do multiple ToHit checks so run multiple Scourge checks as they go.

When you have them recharge before the DoT ends is where it matters, it may make the difference between 2 applications and 3.

I personally would not slot Night Fall with -tohit instead of damage. If I really wanted to buff -tohit, I'd do it in Tenebrous Tentacles. I used to do that but really didn't see the need with dark pit in my arsenal. You've also selected to go without speed boost, which could be a problem on teams (if you worry about that sort of thing). I've found that, while I can solo just fine, finding a team is pretty easy because I have (and slot) speed boost.
