Combat Teleport
That could be really interesting - as a tier 5 power, it'd be a real switch from the other travel pools' granting your "combat" power right at the beginning.
I've always been in favour of this. People keep insisting that you can just use regular Teleport, but you can't, not really. It just doesn't feel as... Direct as Combat Teleport should. Regular Teleport has a 2+ second windup and a following I think four second hover time. This is just... Fat.
A Combat Teleport, as I envision it, would have an animation time of 0 (that's ZERO), a relatively small endurance cost on the order 5-10 points, and be limited to about 20-40 feet, on a recharge of, say, 1-2 seconds, possibly up to 5. No hover time. If you want to air-port, take the actual power Hover. Or Fly.
The point of this is to allow players to Nightcrawler their way around a battle, but without allowing them to use this for an actual travel power.
Samuel_Tow is the only poster that makes me want to punch him in the head more often when I'm agreeing with him than when I'm disagreeing with him.

This would be a cool power to have, but I would settle for teleport myself, I can handle the animation time, but when I put the target on the ground, bypass the hover. I think that if you teleport to the ground, you should land on the ground, not forced to hover above it for a few seconds, which for me is what really stops it from being used in combat. My stone tank uses teleport as a combat teleport power and it works beautifuly for them, yes i said them

**Somewhat off topic of teleport but on topic of 5th tier power**
if the whole "5th tier travel power" did happen, for combat jumping can I have the ability to jump off of the side of a building I run into, I think that would be a great ability to have
I know the current teleport 'works' but i don't think it should be a case of "handling" the windup and root times. I think for anything other than a tank porting into combat is a fairly dangerous activity. For a troller or blaster i think being rooted in the middle of the mob you want to take out is a death sentence. The hover adds functionality for making TP a travel power but a teleport without that hover and delay is something that could have a niche in many builds.
I would certainly use something like this on my controller, to get out of fire or caltrop piles.

An instant to semi instant short range teleport would be neat. Should use a tiny bit more then sustained SS. So on a 5 second recharge we are talking about a base end cost of 2.5-3 end I think.
Would be neat in PvP since you wouldn't loose your target if they TPed but they might be staying out of melee range.
I've always thought The teleport power set was in dire need of revamping. : my thoughts were always something like this:
1) Combat Teleport: Ports you to a targeted foe, short range, fast cool down, moderate end use.
2) Defensive Teleport: Ports you away from a targeted foe, short range fast cool down, low end use, random destination away from the targeted foe (perhaps out of the range of the targets powers).
The first two powes would be much more comicy in flavor, as your teleporter bounce in and out of combat situations.
3) Teleport (Travel Power): Ports you to a specific area of the map. long cool down, End use based on distance, uses the way-point on map to target (open map, select way-point, trigger power, just a modification of the mission door power, really)
Much more useful both as a short- and long-range travel power. This could also be used to teleport to existing way-points on maps, such as the contacts, stores, etc. A nice comicbooky touch might be to only be able to port to known areas eg. areas not covered by the "fog of war" unless a preexisting way-point
4) Team Teleport, long cool down, Uses most end (like most tier 9 powers), uses the way-point on map to target just as the power above, with the exception that it takes any team mate within a radius with you.

But you can kinda use TP as an attack. I use tp on my ma/sd scrapper. target tp then as you tp hit eagle claw. As you show up you already attacking. But to be honest i wouldnt mind a real tp attack.

Not saying any of these is desireable just that they exist, I'm not the first person to come up with this idea. It's something that people are interested in and it comes up often enough that it should come up again. I'm sure this also exists in lady-jades suggestion box, but the thread search tool was not very helpful.
I think this is a good idea as an addition to the teleport power pool. If/when Travel power pools get a 5th power this is something they should include.
