I would like to make an Invulnerability Brute, but I can't decide on a primary. Any recommendations for which would be the "best" primary to pair with the Invulnerability secondary?

Best? Nope, not going to happen.

We have the best single-target set, the best mitigation set, the best AoE set, the best jack of all trades set, the most endurance efficient set - you get the picture.

With that said, here's a few combos.

DB/Inv is a nice combination because you won't be suffering from redraw that often compared to other sets. It's probably one of the few pairings I would do with Dual Blades. On the bright side, with enough investment, Dual Blades can really shine.

I toyed with a claws/invuln before deciding on Claws/WP. It looks very impressive on paper, and would perform quite well with sets. Good damage.

Dark/Inv would be a tough brute to kill. You have the -to-hit debuffs to help mix with your defense.

SS/Inv is a nice combo. Super Strength is just a nice set. Good mitigation, good damage, decent AoE.

It definitely depends on what you prefer...ST, AoE, PvP/PvE, Solo/Team, etc.

I agree with the comments Tonality made, but I'd like to add in the possibility of Fire/Inv. Fire is a strong set with good AoE (Thank you Fire Sword Circle!), although it can be on the bad side with endurance management at times.

Invuln is a late blooming set, so I would take a primary that provides some early form of mitigation like SS, SM, or WM

It's easier to answer the question if you explain what you want to do with the character.

Do you want to solo mostly, or do you plan on playing in a lot of groups.

Do you want to be an aggro magnet on TFs, or do you want to play more like a scrapper who happens to soak up some aggro?

That being said, I agree with Tonality's choices.

SS/Invuln is a pretty classic combo, and a very good one. But keep in mind, that unlike Tankers and Scrappers - Brutes do not have access to Physical Perfection. So you will need to find some way to deal with Super Strength's very heavy END costs (Both from attacks, and rage crashes - IOs go a long way here) along with running Invuln's toggles.

I played a Claws/Invuln to 50 and with IOing the character could have become very strong (I didn't IO because I had other projects I gave priority to). Claws has excellent ST and AoE damage, is relatively light on END usage and pretty much has everything you need allowing you to skip PPPs.

DM/Invuln would be extremely survivable, and would also provide an excellent END recovery tool. It would be a great choice for soloing, and soloing hard challenges. On a team I find the AoE potential severely lacking - but I think you could work around it by going Mu patron for both Electric Fences & Ball Lightning. But that's a long time to wait to be able to deal with crowds.

I haven't played a DB character yet, so I can't comment there.

I am going to take a shoot at the so called best. SS is always a nice but then everyone knows that. DM is also great balance with Invul. You get a fast recharge heal and a end rechage which Invul lacks. Dm and Invul work well togother. Now Dm does not have a great damage AE so I would pick MU patron power and grab Fences and Ball. This will give you to nice damage radius aes. Those two with Soul drain will do very nice AE damage. DM is a great fury builder and its single target attack were upped a while back so you can do very nice single target dps as well. But if you want a true monster, the superman build w/ SS/invul is still very sweet.

Best of Luck

My second brute is Claws/Invulnerability. I will admit that I originally made him as a test and planned to forget about him, and a few weeks later (less than a month actually) he was 50.

But back on track, this combo is as impressive as it looks, and being /Invulnerable opens up a lot of options when it comes to IO sets.

Here was my claws/inv I planned on rolling:
Claws/Inv

I went with this:
Claws/WP

Not a big fan of Invul, but.. thats because its such a late late bloomer, its such a end-drain with SS.

Not sure myself on /invul, I don't have much experience with it.

Maybe War Mace, or Dark Melee to suppliment, either for concept or fun.

I can throw down a vote for SS/Invul. Mine has a habit of Tanking. A lot. Even at L36 I'm pretty badass.

I'll have to cast my vote for Claws/Invul. I just got my Claws/Invul to level 50 a few weeks ago, got she IOed out and she is a monster.
