Farming question for both sides whats the spec ?

I hate asking these which is best farming questions.. BUT for the time being I am posting my disclaimer of being away for over 1 year to know the right answer.

Nutshell Anyone mind giving some insight on which specs are better for farming on both sides hero and villain.

I won't bother asking for builds I will do the research for that. Just the basic 2 specs to pick.

I have several 50's on both sides as does a friend of mine who is coming back also. So eventually we will turn to farming as a team or at least the main start of one as we get more.

The last time I played on hero side Fire Kin used to be the OP build and a Brute with gimp that had Kin for SB was OP on villain side. Again that was OVER 1 year ago, close to 1.5 years as some of my toons say last logged in 497 days.

Well Fire/Kins are still pretty popular farmers. For Blasters Arch/Mental, Fire/Mental and Fire/Fire are the most popular (Mental is popular for the regen and recovery). For scrappers it's definitely Shield secondary and I think Electric primary although I'm not certain about that.

SS/Shield is the combo of choice, at least with Brutes.

Freedom: Blazing Larb, Fiery Fulcrum, Sardan Reborn, Arctic-Frenzy, Wasabi Sam, Mr Smashtastic.

SS = Super Strength
SD = Shield Defense
FA = Fiery Aura

Edit: It wasn't made readily apparent, but the preferred Villain farming AT is the Brute. Personally, I'm a big fan of my Elec/Shield Brute for all his crazy AOE attacks.

Main Hero: Chad Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1396 Badges
Main Villain: Evil Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1193 Badges
Mission Architect arcs: Doctor Brainstorm's An Experiment Gone Awry, Arc ID 2093

Well Blueside you have to go Tanker for that which limits it's appeal

Villain side I really don't have what might be classified as a farming toon.

I have 50 Crab, 50 bot FF mm. and a 40's Rad Kin

Hero side my friend who is coming back does have a fire kin though and he has a 50 tanker from the old arc days of PL / Farming. I have several 50s on Hero side but again nothing for main farming, but more assist.. 50 AR Dev, 50 Storm Rad and a 50 BS / don't recall.

As much as I love elec/sd, it just doesn't compare to SS/SD. The reason has to do with the two pseudopets capping out at 400% dmg, which is easy to do with fury, against all odds, and slotting. Scrappers don't have to deal with fury cutting into their maximum potential, hence why an elec/sd/blaze scrapper can outperform an elec/sd/mu brute easily.

But, Elec/SD is still a fun combination to play, even if it isn't the best brute.

I'll give you that it's not the best, but as you said, it's a lot of fun. And if I'm going to be spending several hours grinding repetitively, then durnit, I want to have fun doing it.

I've seen a Plant/Fire and Plant/Thorn Dom farm as good or better than a SS/SD Brute. While not as easy or cheap to do, I think the endurance part makes up for it. YMMV tho

Elec/Shield or Fire/Shield for both sides (Brute and Scrapper)

If you can find a Kin to partner with, the Brute pulls way ahead due to the ginormous Brute damage cap. Speed Boost to speed the DPS, Transference to cure End woes, and Fulcrum Shift to keep you perma damage capped is pretty sick.

lol at Sardan. Everything does more everything with a /kin.

If u have the accounts, this is what i use: 1 Fire/Kin, 1 Fire/Rad, and 1 Fire/Sonic. Set to +3x8. Can run +4's but miss a bit more due to bosses.

Solo, i run my fire/kin or elec/sd scrapper. Both run at +2x8 solo. Run against Praetorians. Easy to stun and die fast.

True, but Brutes gain more from having a /Kin around than Doms or other ATs do. The Brute damage cap is insanely high, so they're the only AT that can fully benefit from double stacked Fulcrum Shift.

Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name
