~*~I Must KNOW~*~
Because women are more interesting. I don't view MMO characters as being digital representations of myself, I view them as characters and I am writing/controlling how their situations play out. And I've always preferred movies/TV shows with female protagonists, they are almost always more interesting than male protagonists, in my opinion: Buffy, Dollhouse, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil (the movies), even Alice in Wonderland, and the Wizard of Oz. The male and huge characters that I do make have all been caricatures rather than characters. I believe I have yet to make a male character with a normal face.

If the butt staring and sexy walk were the only reason they were playing the game... Well, there's much better websites for that kind of viewing
I think the butt staring argument only applied for all that time between missions, running from one to the other, etc.. Most of the time, while in actual combat, I assume they're not still but staring... And if they are, they really should check out those websites I mentioned - they'd probably be more effective for 'em |
VexXxa just wanted to know if the guy-girl players wear ladies underwear to help their RP skills...

Everyone's gonna have a different reason, but most likely the common answer will be because the female models in the game are eyecandy for the guys (assuming such guys are attracted to females). Others probably just like creating characters for the fun of it and some of them just so happen to be female.
Like, I'm female, but about 99% of my toons are male. Guys are hot!
I'd imagine that for some of them, it'd be the same reason I play male toons in addition to female toons: Why restrict yourself to only one gender, when it comes to creativity?
girls have more fun.
for realz (or pretends)
there's a big long story relating to highschool and the stress there but meh the above is a good synopsis

I would point out that it is probably the people that ONLY play one gender that are the ones that have some sort of gender hangup. It's perfectly cool to play a dude that shoots lightning from his hands, but being a chick is weird? That's messed up, man.

I have no toonz, or toons. I don't play ToonTown.

Biggest Troll on the forums? I'll give you a hint:
If it weren't for some of the guyz playing MALE toonz! And a few of you galz who play MALE toonz as well, I would never have any "eye candy" to look at and would thus have to play a MALE toon in order to have a HAWT "BEEFCAKE" to look at.

While I don't share in the Y chromosome pool, I decided to take a closer look at the male walk emote. I gotta say, and back me up on this Y chromosome people, the male walk emote absolutely pales in comparison to the female walk emote.
The female walk just oozes confidence and a sexy swagger. The male walk has no swagger, no sex appeal, no oompf...no...nothin'. In fact, if you speed up the walk emote animation, it may appear the male is clenching his butt cheeks together trying to find a restroom.
I'm jus' sayin'

Wait you don't share in the Y chromosome pool? You do realize that having a Y chromosome means you are a male of the species? If you don't have at least one Y (can also have two Y or two X and one Y) chromosome then youz iz bein' a chick.
Hmmm never tried the walk animation on a male toon, I'll have to go check it out.
Wait, wait, wait. You can be male (YX) or female (XX). Rarely, you can by a male with YYX chromosomes, but there's no YY people.
This is the answer people seem to give the most, but I don't think it's actually true. I think it's just a way to be humorously defensive about it to forestall any accusations of homosexuality.

I personally don't care if people play cross-gendered comic hero/heroine roles. But in regards to my reasons for being interested in comic-themed MMOs like this may stem from a childhood "hang-up". I would watch cartoons like the Super Friends (or a modern equivalent Justice League) as a kid and put on my Underoo Batman shirt and run through the house pretending to be Batman. It just never occurred to me to dress up like Wonderwoman. So with that said, I approached this game from a "concept" perspective of making heroes I think would be cool if I could have super powers - hence guy toons since I am a guy. Now whether or not VexXxa really does enjoy looking at guy toons is besides the point.

Well, let's see. Whole bunch of reasons.
1. Names and concepts. If the name sounds right for a female character, then a female character it is. "Clair de Lune" just wouldn't work, for me, as a burly - or even scrawny - guy.
2. Related to 1... ongoing storyline. Yeah, my first 50 was a female Blaster. Who then became a female Kheldian. Also, her enemies in the Circle of Thorns wanted to discredit her, and so tried to make a fake "her," so... obviously female. A few other alternate versions of her. And the friend I took her to 50 with made the "next generation" with me... so I made her daughter. And her daughter at two other points in life. So ... sort of a family thing there.
3. While the "staring at a butt" is a popular answer... pixels don't do it for me. Character does. On the other hand, I discovered early on that I *hated* the male and huge "run" - looking like they had their feet in buckets of cement or something. So... I'd tend toward female characters. (Though I think I'm roughly half and half.)
4. Costumes. I rarely can get a male costume I like, they end up just... bland to me most of the time. Female options work better most times (when they're not somewhat ridiculous.) Though my female characters would love the Baron coat.
Wait, wait, wait. You can be male (YX) or female (XX). Rarely, you can by a male with YYX chromosomes, but there's no YY people.

If you don't have at least one Y (meaning XY or a normal male) chromosome then youz iz bein' a chick
can also have two Y (meaning XYY otherwise called XYY Syndrome)
or two X and one Y (meaning XXY otherwise called Kleinfelter's Syndrome)
In the first two the single X is implied as you cannot have just a "Y" person either.
Oh and as a preemptive strike against your likely retort... BITE MEH!
Bah! You act as though there are no people here puttin up da beefcake for da ladies or sumpin?

Nothing to see here folks... pay no attention to the little man behind the curtain!
Alright everyone, my New Year's Resolution is to find out ....
WHY DO GUYZ PLAY GIRL TOONZ??!! |
Why?
- Costume options.
- Male/Huge sounds.
- Male/Huge run.
- Better costume parts.
- Character concept (this plays a large part of male/female/huge choice).
- There is a bit of the "pixel staring", but this not the most important item.
- Lack of gender-neutral robotic body (I'd switch a number of characters to a "neuter" gender if given the choice).
- Role-playing something completely different than my real life. (No, I don't wear ladies underwear to improve my RP skills.)
