What is the actual number of AT/Prim/Sec Combos?

I am wondering how many combinations of AT and Primary/Secondary powers there are? Not including Power Pool variants.

Has someone figured this out or is it time to break out the calculator?

A few people worked it out a while back it was in the 500-600 range IIRC. Try using the search feature to dig up the thread.

If I'm accounting for everything, 684. 686 if you want to count the powersets the VEATs start with, though I don't since I'm reasonably sure you can't stay with just them through to 50. Entirely possible I missed something in there, though.

Is that accounting for mutually exclusive sets?

By my count, there are 682 possible combinations, counting four for Arachnos as eventually you need to pick one of the four branches, and the starting set is still there for branched characters. In more detail:

54 Blasters (9 primaries x 6 secondaries)
63 Controllers (7 primaries x 9 secondaries)
90 Defenders (10 primaries x 9 secondaries)
68 Scrappers (9 primaries x 7 secondaries, plus 5 primaries that can go with Shields)
79 Tankers (7 primaries x 10 secondaries, plus 9 secondaries that can go with Shields)
87 Brutes (10 primaries x 8 secondaries, plus 8 primaries that can go with Shields, minus 1 for Claws/Stone)
90 Corruptors (9 primaries x 10 secondaries)
42 Dominators (6 primaries x 7 secondaries)
40 Masterminds (5 primaries x 8 secondaries)
63 Stalkers (9 primaries x 7 secondaries)

And for epic archetypes, 2 for Kheldians, and 4 for Arachnos, reasons stated above.

Here's a post where I even break it down historically by how many sets were available at different times!

(PS: Here's a list of all the combinations.)

Proud member of Everyday Heroes (Infinity Heroes), Dream Stalkers (Infinity Villains), Devil Never Cry (Freedom Heroes), Enclave of EVIL (Pinnacle Villains), Phobia (Infinity Villains), Les Enfant Terribles (Freedom Villains), Gravy Train (Virtue Heroes), and more!

And if you consider all the different ways you can slot and enhance powers to your personal play preferences, i.e. Reduce cool down, increase damage, increase duration (holds, stuns, sleeps, etc.), increase accuracy, reduce endurance cost, etc. I estimate there are over 67,000 completely unique power configurations available.

That means that I can make new unique characters, if I create one a day, for the next 183 years.

And people make comments about how since CoX is a class based game your choices are limited?

It should be, though it's looking like I may want to go back and recheck things.

Edit: I missed removing a few of the mutually exclusive ones. Oh well, I've got things corrected now.

Dual. And considering they're not in-game yet, they're not forgetting.

Yeah, Duel Pistols doesn't sound too useful. I guess you would only have one shot before reloading and the weapon only fires at a range of 20 paces.

Regarding SoAs, it is entirely possible to go all the way to 50 with just the base Primary/Secondary and Power Pools/PPPs, so I'd count them as 6 combinations. (It's far more common for Arachnos Soldiers to do so over Arachnos Widows, since a Night Widow is a natural progression of the Arachnos Widow base anyhow, where neither the Crab or Bane branches expand directly upon the Arachnos Soldier base.)

684

A typo - I do actually know the difference between "dual and "duel" - like "rogue" and rouge"

Shouldn't Electricty control be added as well? I heard of a mention it was coming also.

Prometheus: ... so what I told you was true, from a certain point of view.
Me: From a certain point of view?
Prometheus: You're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on your point of view.
Me: You're right about that. Power Blast is very pretty from a certain point of view. But that point of view is not head-on. <Kaboom> - Arcanaville.

As it's not in game (just like Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning), it's not being forgotten. It hasn't been given a timeframe or even a concrete confirmation that it'll be in, just fairly-casual developer comments about it.
