Every post here is wrong. Anyone with half a brain knows that the best build in the game is War Mace/Energy Aura. It's just too strong and too pretty.

Lord Recluse summons swarms of Bane Spiders; even if you can taunt most of them, a few will still get lose and go after your pets and kill them
Winter Lord also likes to spam his summon since the start of the fight
Malaise summons untauntable/undebuffable pets that also tend to go after your robots
Zenflower summons a large patch of carrion creepers and other plant control powers that grief the robots AI, making it pretty difficult to control them. She also has a confuse, which means insta-death for an MM
In a theoretical fight against Lusca, an MM would also have big problems since the head can't be taunted, and loose aggro always means dead pets (similar to how she kept killing my imps on my Fire/Rad Controller) so the only way he could achieve success would be... as a petless MM using his personal attacks, yummy
I like Rad/Sonic defenders.
But I'm also not trying to be the best at everything
Sorry, the build you're looking for simply doesn't exist. There is no build in the game that will be better than anything else at everything. There are builds that are good at one thing or another, but there will be another build that is better at something else.
Bots/Traps is probably the closest you will ever get to the "I Win" button you're looking for. But you will get destroyed by an experienced PvPer most of the time.

im not looking for the "I win" button (if so id just play WM/Eng brute...), Im simply trying to figure out if there really is a "best" build out there.

Being able to do it fast, just gets a better reward to time invested ratio.
