Would You Buy...

Would have to expand and fix (or at least widen options) for base editing before I would buy a pack.

But, yes... As long as the pack contained a good amount of stuff (and maybe a portion of prestige to offset the cost of implementing all those cool new shineys)?

Yeah, I'd buy it.

And while it's always nice to get more stuff I'd prefer to see a fundamental change to bases first (i.e. introducing player housing, so everyone can use the base building feature) plus a revamp of the existing base items (i.e. adding a bottom side, make items stackable, etc.) and most importantly a fixed and modernized base editor (i.e. include a chat window, a vertical placement slider, etc.).

tl/dr

I would if it included pieces that would help my decorative items count go down. Things like:

- Thin panels to break larger rooms into smaller sections. I could use a bunch of 2 x 2's but that isn't as practical as purchasing a large room and making my own dividers.

More than just wood panels though.. wide and tall glass panels, railings, fences, etc.

- Thick floor panels. Desks are great for second and third floors but it would be nice to lay down an entire section at once. There is the white floor tile but it's paperthin and invisible underneath.

- Longer or taller stair units.

- An ability to color customize pieces in the same way we customize walls, floors and ceilings.

I think I'm inspired to finish my villain base now. I'm at 15 thousand items. The cap is 20 no? I'll be in game if anyone wants to torment me with pm's about how useless massive shoeclosets labeled as bomb shelters are.

I think a base booster pack is a bad idea. Here are my reasons why...

First - it risks creating SG/VG drama. If a person is a defined "base builder" for a SG/VG - they might be expected to purchase this, even if they would prefer not to. While I think that this would be a rare occurance, it is certainly a plausible outcome for some groups. (Forsaken Empire's point about what happens when leaving an SG/VG are excellent as well.)

Secondly - I doubt the return on the investment would be worthwhile. You're slicing the population down first to those that build bases, and of that group, those willing to purchase additional packs. I think you'd need to factor in the loss of goodwill here as a cost as well.

"Base Booster Packs" would be available from the game store and consist of a code that opens up a tab in the base editor (Account wide). The packs would give base builders cool stuff for bases and give the devs some more cash.

An example pack could be: "Base Booster Pack 1: Japanese" and include the items from the "tattoo parlor" mission.

Items:

Screen-Japanese 1 - the room divider screens.
Screen-Japanese 2 - the ones with paintings (if they are not separate).
Painting-Japanese 1
Painting-Japanese 2
Statue-Tsoo Idol
Table
Bowls
Sword 1
Sword 2 - laying on the floor
Plant-bamboo
---
The above items are the ones I remember. A hibatchi and/or japanese fireplace would be nice too.

I would pay $9.99 for the example pack and maybe higher for bigger packs. How about you?
Yes but it would have to have way more stuff and they would have to address the existing base issues first before putting that in play. I am still waiting on them to finally shrink down the freaking Orbits of Control so it fits in the same size room as the tech counter part and for them to put viewable pictures on the arcane teleporters because those scrolls are too hard to tell what zone they are for.

Bump and Grind Bane/SoA
Kenja No Ishi Earth/Empathy Controller
Legendary Sannin Ninja/Pain Mastermind
Entoxicated Ninja/PSN Mastermind
Ninja Ryukenden Kat/WP Scrapper
Hellish Thoughts Fire/PSI Dominator

Thank You Devs for Merits!!!!

And I'd pay a whole dollar for an icon on the map for the portal door. You can easily get turned around in other people's bases.

I'd slap down money for base boosters for sure, if they made sure not to be too scroogy with the ammount of goodies.

Because the money generated from the booster sales could go directly into funding the overhaul people want. Just like the devs did with the money they got from the Origin booster sales. That money has helped pay for the features we currently have.

Hmmmm...interesting dilemma.

I'd buy it, pending on volume of material and what type of stuff was available, however, since my continued response borders on 'suggestions', and I don't wish to get flamed/persecuted/offend fellow forumites for 'suggesting' things in the OP's thread, I'll instead provide a link to here to further expand on where this could/should go, in my opinion.

Darn good question, by the way, OP!

I like bases and decorating but...probably not.

Of course, their habit is to put in a Power to sweeten the pot. If they had something like a secondary cheap start-up piece to supply another heap of control and energy to the base (for people who use bases like a personal apartment some extra juice could come in handy without having to upgrade to the next sized base), or something special like the ability for someone to purchase and place an Architect Room in your base or a Market vendor or a Tailor...or maybe special PvP Zone Teleporters so you wouldn't have to go hopping across the city to go to BB or Warburg to restock on shivans and nukes. Not really anything much, but it'd be something. Statesman just left Supergroup Bases to rot, and Posi threw his hands up and said "yeah we're never doing the Cathedral of Pain thing" and just smashed the excessive prestige costs with a sledgehammer.
