Spines/Dark - Ponderous, Man.
I am still a bit new to tweaking to offer up anything useful and it is an impressive looking build. Are you popping any purples when facing down a boss or AV?
BTW, your title now has the awesome 2NU song stuck in my head.

You have to toggle on the accolades in Mids after selecting them. With those on (and deselecting the click power accolades because those skew the numbers a lot), it says you have 3.83 end/s, which is closer to your actual value. If your real value is exactly 3.89 then there's still something missing, though. |
Biggest thing I noticed was the stray purples here and there - seems like a waste to me.
Also, your damage auras are overslotted; moving them to lunge and impale will help your single target troubles. Although, you'll lose out on some of that melee defense if you do.
I went for pure recharge on my spines/dark. Looking back, I'd say it wasn't such a good idea, but oh well... perma-hasten builds can be fun sometimes, even though I trade off survivability. My single target attack chain is ripper - impale - repeat.

This is a build I made for a friend who was extremely frustrated by his Spines/DA's survivability and overall play. To say that he loves it is a huge understatement. Softcaping makes a huge difference when you throw a quick heal and solid resistance into the mix.

Space reserved for a super awesome Signature, someday...
Both builds give me some stuff to consider.
I had noticed the overslotting for damage in Quills/Death's Embrace, but I did want that melee defense. I might burn a respec or two trying it with S. Dervish instead. Maybe the Fire damage purple proc in one of them.
AH! Hm. I remember I was going to try a proc'd out Quills spec and see how it'd fare... just toss two Acc/Dam/End IOs in there at 50 for 42% to each, then Chance for Fire, Energy, Smashing, Lethal. I know they only check once every 10 seconds, but... but... So pretty.
Re: The Purples. I run like a million ITFs, so occasionally when I find one I toss it into a power where it'll help a bit more than whatever I've got. Call it saving for a rainy day. -.-
While my single target damage can be a bit anemic, other than farming stuff specifically weak against me, I don't really solo, and single target damage isn't that big a deal on teams. I build for aoe damage and durability, mostly. Still, Quills -could- use better slotting, procs or otherwise. Needs Acc/Dam/End enhancement but is really only getting Acc/Dam. Hm.
Thank you for the input, I will be tweaking the build some using some things said here and what I've seen in your posted builds.

BTW, your title now has the awesome 2NU song stuck in my head. "This in ponderous man, really ponderous..." |
2NU had a hit in the 80s that lasted a brief time and it was called This Is Ponderous. It was spoken words with an odd bit of special effects and voice work set to a beat. It is quirky and it is the sort of music you think, "Wow they really had fun making that one." From that album I recommend DDS Blues and Franks Chair where you learn there is no such thing as dusk in the city.
2NU still exists as 2NU2 and is still cranking out odd, haunting, upbeat, and beautiful music that will stick with you.
In reply to another post, I have not tried a perma hasten but am currently working on my Kat/Da to hit softcap (or at least really close) based on Claws and Werner's posts to the forum.
And purples, still waiting for them. Tonight I ran some AV arc storyline and the biggest drop was an Orange pet IO recipe. One day my purples will come, I can just feel it.

just wanted to chime in... dont put the expensive 33% purple dmg proc in a dmg toggle. you will see a lot more use of it in spine burst. not sure how that would affect you build in the end. procs in dmg auras are fun for spines/dark, but that one in particular is killer in a click type pbaoe where you have more control over when it checks it's chance to proc.

This is an interesting thread. I have spine/DA and I don't know what to do. I like to see more builds
Here is my spines/dark went for defense and recharge, dark regeneration recharges in 12.5 seconds without hasten.

Why not replace the Doctored Wounds END/RCH in Dark Regeneration with a HEAL/END HO?
You lose 1.3 second of recharge time.
But maintain the same END cost, but get a much better heal for when up against 1 target. Or those sad times you hit one target when surrounded by many.
BrandX Future Staff Fighter
The BrandX Collection
I've missed all targets a few times, with multiple yellows clicked (before you could combine inspirations, I clicked through them so Id have a spot for blues) and Focused Accuracy going...and miss all 8 targets. *sigh* How that would make me cry.
BrandX Future Staff Fighter
The BrandX Collection
And it still gives a bigger heal for when up against 1 target

So this is my current scrapper build, the actual Barbie Ink, or at least 99.9% of here. Mids lists recovery at 3.48/s but my combat monitor says 3.89/s or some such. Maybe one of my accolades or something. Anyway...
Absolute beast vs large groups. I ran her last night on a couple of maps set for +3/x8, and she tore through things. Ripped up everything except bosses, really, and they've always been a bit rough on Spines with its AoE focus.
She's not soft-capped vs anything, but I've heard a few times about people pulling it off with Dark. Is it worth it? With Dark Regen on a 10 second timer (14 if Hasten is down) I've very rarely even seen my hp drop into the red, though when it does it's dangerously close to empty.
Thoughts or suggestions?
