Hello. My name is Thaumator... and i'm a /dark Corruptor (ie I'm redside, and have a healing power that requires an accuracy check).

In your opinion, what would be the most efficient way for me to obtain the healing badges?

Yes I used the "search" function, but the results didn't help very much

I am willing to grab the medicine pool on my secondary build if Twilight Grasp isn't the most efficient.

Any info would be appreciated.

Farm PVP Rep to 400 to get the Longbow Warden 2 Gladiator then go and set up some heal sessions in the arena.

Get a group of 7 level 28+ MMs, a CoT pain crystal, and a CoT guide. Set all the MM pets to passive around the pain crystal (and around the corr). Target the guide with Twilight Grasp.

Well, Nericus' suggestion about the Disruptor badge is the 'best' in terms of getting the job done. Particularly if you're interested in total badge count. Get Disruptor first and the healing badges are a snap. Of course, that 400 rep is a bi... pain.

All of the suggestions were good (although I'm kinda biased, as I was thinking of Mothership raids myself, from experience) but, can someone explain the the 400+ Rep method. I didn't follow that at all, but I'm not all that arena savvy.

Is what I was referring to. I looked at the thread you indicated and it just talks about getting to 400+ Rep, not what heals sessions are or why they'd be inherently more effective based on your rep..

I appreciate your attempt to help, but maybe I'm just not able to even ask the question clearly, since I'm SO lacking in knowledge of this general area. Partly why I'm able to get heal badges, but not Arena badges I guess.


Edit: I think you just mislinked, and I just saw the thread you meant. LOL Perhaps I should have looked about a bit, instead of jut clicky-ing, before replying. Sorry.

Here's why: getting to 400 PVP rep gets you access to a Gladiator (which is a type of Arena event where you, the player, do not fight, but have Gladiators fight for you at your control) called "Longbow Warden2". This Gladiator has a healing ability that gives you some credit toward your healing badge for every target it hits (regardless whether that target requires any healing).

So getting access to the LW2 Gladiator allows you to set up a "heal farm" with just 2 accounts (1 on each side of the Arena Gladiator match), or more if people are available, and when the players' Gladiators are all bunched up close together, the Wardens' heals give off tremendous heal badge credit. The players simply set this up and walk away (generally overnight), and since Arena matches do not log you out for inactivity it's simply the most efficient way of gaining healing badge credit.

To be precise, the wiki refers to it as "Longbow Warden 2", as does the community at large (at least in my experience), so that is the term I use.

For assembling your Gladiator team, you're right, it's good to know that it's the 500-point LW you want.

Yeah, and when you're explaining the system to someone who has never done it, avoiding jargon and 'in' references is a good idea.

I had someone mention this just a few days ago while setting up their gladiators; "There is no Longbow Warden 2 listed. Do you mean the 500 pt one?"

Well, thanks to you all, I'm pretty much fully on board as far as understanding the procedure. Thanks to your help here, and the other thread someone suggested I look at, I feel I have the basics fairly well grasped now. Thanks for taking the time to explain it slow and simple.

One question, slightly off main topic, but it shouldn't be a big thread jack; in the gladiator events, are you basically playing mastermind to the Gladiators you select?

I've tried to check out this aspect (I'll admit, not with a huge amount of perseverance), and frankly never found a soul on, so I've never seen it.

Yes, that's pretty much what you do. The only difference is you can't use any of your own powers.

As I've mentioned in other threads, I have obtained the SG healing badges for a number of SG's on Infinity. Three words: FREE SERVER TRANSFERS.

Could any SG's on other servers use my assistance in getting the first two SG healing badges? If so, PM me.

Sorry to come to the part late, but: How do I get 400 Reputation? I gather that two cooperative characters with a stack of awakens can't just whack each other for ten minutes, but (other than reputation decay) there is no mention of Reputation mechanics in ParagonWiki or the PvP Guides.

It's true that you can't earn rep for fighting the same person until the timer is up (though I seem to recall they shortened that timer to 5 min, but don't quote me on that... it was certainly a 10 minute timer when I farmed my rep badges in 2007).

The best way I've found is to get a friend or two (or an alternate account) and take turns cycling through characters high enough to enter your chosen PVP zone round-robin.

When I did the badges, I used Warburg, and just fought against the zone wall straight south of the Hero boat. I stocked my Villains with Awakens. When a character was defeated, I'd log out with them still unconscious. When it was their turn to get beaten up again, I'd log back in and use a wakey (if they were a Villain) or hit the hospital and run back before my health had regenerated fully (if they were a Hero), making for some quick and easy kills.

I managed to get one character on my account and one on my then-girlfriend's account to 400 Rep in about 2 weeks of very casual farming, but it can be done in a single weekend with no problem if you just want to spend the whole time grinding, or if you have many friends who don't mind letting you beat up their characters.

You can do it in one day with a few people who also want the badge.

Defeating someone earns you a base value of 1 rep (assuming you are solo). If your target's rep is 20 or more higher than yours, you earn 6 for defeating them.

With a handful of organized players, each with a few toons, you can manage a kill a minute or better.

One effective strategy is to have one high-rep target. Everyone takes turns killing that target for the 6 rep. Then everyone logs alts and the high-rep guy kills all of them to make sure he stays 20+ rep ahead of everyone. The high-rep guy needs to be a top damage-dealer since he'll need to kill hundreds of targets (unless he is starting with a very high rep). Everyone else needs less than 70 kills to hit 400, instead of 400 kills.

Once upon a time, when I organized this, I would be able to keep one of my guys close to 400 for weeks at a time. At this point, the rep would have long since degraded to zero.

I don't think this works any more. If you just lie there, you get sent to the hospital automatically after 2 minutes. Also, if you log in dead, you get sent immediately (before your screen even finishes drawing).

Correct. If you log out while you are dead (in a PvP zone), you will automatically be at the hospital when you log back in. You'll still have minimal health though, as you were instantly sent there upon logging in.

I used a similar method.. Logging out on the character and killed him with the badge toon before the timer expired and when the cycle came back around to him, he'd have minimal health and take less effort to kill him again as the logout timer counts down for the next round.

This was um... well, technically, it was fixing an exploit but let's go with the phrase everyone else is going to apply: this was 'stealth nerfed' during the routine maintenance last week. Since it was a server-side change, no client patch was required.

Previously, you would set up the match as a Team Gladiator event with the victory condition as 'Last Man Standing'. This is no longer a valid setting and the match can not be started. As far as I can tell, the best you can do is a timed event with the maximum time allowed at 30 minutes. Thus, you would have 35 minutes of farming (30 minute match plus 5 minute pause before you are ejected from the arena).

Comment: I actually expected heals to stop counting for pets in the arena at the time they reduced the Empath requirement the second time, making it only 1/100th of the original 1 billion points healed. I guess that making the heals not count was either just difficult, or impossible without borking regular healing progress. It took me 10 months to get the Empath badge in the arena for my scrapper. Amusingly, with the current requirement, I could have done it with Aid Other. I was already past 7 million points healed when I got Disruptor and started farming it.

I believe it was "fixed" much earlier than just last week. When I last ran that farm on another character (October 12), it was giving me a problem with the "last man standing" option as well.

I thought I had to deal with a 30 minute timer...

BUT, I didn't have to! I simply set it to "individual kills: 10", and it still worked all night long without timing out.
(I tested that option as recently as 5 minutes ago, to make sure.. and it still worked)
