Windows 7 Problem
I just received my new laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. Yesterday I installed CoX and booted it up. Everything worked fine despite the annoying shield icon over the shortcut. Today I go to log in and the game quits responding on the loading screen (the one immediately after the loading bar). I've restarted hoping that would fix it but it hasn't. I'll admit I'm a little computer stupid so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure that Compatibility Mode is NOT checked. It should be off.
A little further down, you should make sure "Run as Administrator" is checked as well.
Hit Apply or OK at the bottom and try it again.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, you'll need to post more details about your system. You can do this by using this program CoH Helper. Download it, run it, paste it's findings here.

We'll see....
If you right click on the shortcut on your desktop and click on Properties, a window will pop up. You will see a few tabs here at the top, you're looking for Compatibility.

Go back in and uncheck that administrator option as well. That caused some similar problems for me when I first got 7.

I've noticed with 7 that if there is anything taking a large part of your processor usage, it will stall, if not completely lock up CoH response on that screen. On my system the load time will quadruple if I have anything running that isn't just a low level app (IE - SETI@home). What have you installed in the span since you installed CoH?
Pinnacle server

Ok. Use the settings in the first post of Bill Z Bubba's stickied ATI Issues and Settings Recommendations post to set your Catalyst Control Center and ingame graphics settings. Bill also gives a pretty good step by step guide on how to uninstall ATI drivers and install cleanly. I'd recommend using DriverSweeper instead of DriverCleaner since DriverSweeper is still free. You can also use the steps on the DriverSweeper page.
Since you are having trouble getting into the game, there are two options for changing your graphics settings. You can launch the game in Safe Mode (check the Safe Mode box on the EULA screen before clicking I Accept) to load into the game using pretty much the lowest settings, then adjust the settings from there and relaunce the game afterwards. The other option would be to download and install TweakCoH since it will let you set your graphics before launching the game. I prefer TweakCoH since it's easier than having to recheck the settings after going to Safe Mode.
Just a quick glance at your settings shows several that need to be turned off with an ATI card, namely Vertical Sync, Anisotropic Filtering, Water Effects (can be set on Low), Bloom, Depth of Field, and Desaturation Effects. I'd also recommend setting it to run in Windowed Mode at the Desktop resolution.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.
Ok, so I went to uninstall my drivers as layed out in that stickied topic. My ATI programs on the uninstall list didn't match up (I have ATI Catalyst Control Center whereas the directions call it ATI Software Uninstaller). It said it had been removed so I restarted. There were no visible changes to my computer and I wasn't prompted to install drivers upon reboot. I ran the DriverSweeper and restarted again. This time the graphics on my computer were noticeably weaker. I ran the 9.9 driver update and restarted again. Nothing ATI showed up on my uninstall list or on the start menu. I didn't know what I did wrong so I did a system restore to Friday. I decided to try running CoH to see if it worked and it did. I logged in and everything. I didn't change any settings because I had been prompted to reboot to finish installing the Windows updates that had been affected by the restore. Now I can't get past the first loading screen again. Maybe it's one of the updates I received? That's the only thing I can think of.
Have you tried to turn "User Account Control" down or off?
I am running into a launch problem also, The updater works as usual although a little slower than I am used to. I can sign in and select a charachter but when I attempt to enter the server it times out. I have noticed when the game starts it changes my screen resolution. I tried changing the settings with Tweak COH. Any help would be appreciated.

That aside, have you tried the instructions in the second post of this thread?
Your video drivers are a little out of date as well.
