Does anyone actually take Ghost Slaying Axe?
I usually take SoM on those melee toons who dont use a weapon, mainly for the ease of use (so as not to have to deal with weapon draw, and the multiple targets huddled around me). That said, most of my ranged characters will take the axe, since weapon draw isnt usually a big issue, and I rarely need more than one foe turning their attention my way. Besides, the lack of defences makes the long rooting animation too dangerous.
Sometimes for concept I've taken the axe. On most of those toons, I've then regreted it it soon after too.
Its pretty easy to get at least 2 in sands of mu, and has that nice -tohit.
I'm glad that halloween time makes the axe a better choice sometimes
I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.
Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.
So sad to be ending ):
On my dark/dark defender called Darkness, how could I not take it
Like others haved said the main reason would be character concept.
If my primary means of damage doesn't do well against ghosties OR it seems or becomes thematic in some way.
As an example of both my AR/Traps blaster. Not only does my normal gun attacks so less damage against ghosts but after collecting my Nemesis Staff, Holy Shotgun, Iron Sword, Bow and baseball bat, it only seemed natural to add the Ghost Slaying Axe to my invisible golf bag of destruction.

My main (see sig) hasnt taken either... yet, but thematically favors the Axe. My MM's have been taking the Axe since it is actually decent, and I do a LOT of CoT missions; so it helps when the Ghosts decide to take on the Master vice the Henchies. Melee characters generally take Sands; Ranged and Support are a mixed bag as to choice, but I have been taking GA more often lately.

I would say that about half of my characters have the Axe.
There I was between a rock and a hard place. Then I thought, "What am I doing on this side of the rock?"
I have on several.
Makes it easier to just hack CoT ghosties, and generally I have stuff that's better than a basic unenhanced Shadow Maul for fighting the rest of the time.
Sands of Mu are nice on the SS brute I had though. Seems to ignore the rage IMMA HIT YOU FOR 1-4 POINTS OF DAMAGE crashes.
I finally took it on one of my characters to see what it's like. I didn't like it, and I doubt I'll take it again.
I saw my teammate using the axe yesterday and I didn't recognize what it was for about 2 minutes.
And no, I'm not joking.
