When are the levels going to be fixed?

So this is still dragging on, and on, and on in fact I cannot remember the last time I did a challenging TF/SF without having to find a 'loop hole' to make the levels harder such as starting the sf etc with a toon that is 2 level s below the tf level.
This however does not help with the level 50 stuff, Hero side the flashbacks are worth doing as can set the challenge and get decent merits as the arcs tend to be longer but Villain side this is not such a good option as the merits are miserable (different rant for a different day) and the arcs are a lot shorter.
WHEN IS THIS GOING TO BE FIXED!!!!!!!!!!
I am starting to wonder if this situation is being left long enough so that it will be the 'norm' and everyone will have forgotten the day that SF/TF's were a challenge and they just become part of content that is already IMO weighted towards getting to 50 as quickly and easily as possible. Then we can just focus on pimping out builds that do not actually have any real challenging content thus leaving us time to carry on merrily farming and speed running tf/sf's - because that is exactly why I have paid subs to this game for the last 4 years.
Wow. I took a 2 month break and this is still an issue? The easiest and most obvious fix would be to allow the TF difficulty slider as it was, and let people have their "free Master Of"'s. Its amazing that anyone cares about that. Go outside. Look at the bright yellow ball in the sky, we call that the sun. Do this while working on a less permissive alternative, one more palatable to developer scruples.
It just seems that allowing your customers to have fun in the game would be... well, a priority. And it obviously is a priority in other facets of the game, so what's so different about this?
I guess I know why I haven't seen any of my old TF buddies online in the few days I've been back. We ran speeds daily on the highest setting also, just because it was fun and occasionally comic. And when the mission slider went it, it got both funner and funnier. I guess it stopped being fun or funny doing it against +0's.
Yep still not fixed, I believe that this is around 4 months from when it was orginally introduced and nearly 2 months since the last red name comment.
So how temporary is temporary?
Personally I do not care about any new issues or Going Rogue unless this issue is fixed to me there is no point introducing new content until the content we have is working properly.
I am fed up of paying subscription for a game to entertain me that I then have to spend addition effort and time trying to find way around things so that it does entertain me.
I have been a very loyal subscriber to COX for 4 years and have always tried to sympathise with the damned if you do and damned if you don't position that devs inevitably find themselves in, but this issue to me is so core and fundamental to the playing of the game and has taken so long now that I feel ignored as if the fact that we have Going Rogue coming this year will be enough to keep people shelling out month after month.
They should just remove -1 completely. What self respecting hero or villain fights -1s?
Sure we go to Perez Park at level 50 and knock guys off of rooftops but that's different.
Dispari has more than enough credability, and certainly doesn't need to borrow any from you.

Even if they did that, this would still be on delay. -1 wasn't the only issue with the system, so all you'd be doing would be removing options from players for no reason.

Who cares if people can get the badge at -1?
I suspect that it's such poor code that untangling it is not easy even if it is "recent". Making a change in this system might mess up something like [Walk].
That was one of the problems. Another was that the difficulty settings were causing AVs with set levels to change (the 54 AVs in the STF were adjusted according to your setting for instance).
Anyway, I will admit I'm pretty unhappy with how long this is taking.
A fix to something as major as the TF code and the difficulty slider should (and I dare say will) only be made in a major branch of the code, as the testing regime will have to be so comprehensive internally.
That puts it at the next issue.
Just look at the number of issue the current implementation has even in 'normal' missions. (such as the RV Heavies spawning as opposition and the doubling of the AV level difference).
To me it would be best to wait until then to have it fixed RIGHT.

But the difficulty slider is "new". The developer(s) that wrote it should still most certainly be there and my expectation would be that this new section of code wouldn't be as tangled as the rest of it. I don't think it's right to expect that we wait over half a year to see a fix.
What's next? Pet zoning issues? Oh wait.
I refer you back to Mod8's comment
This is something that is important to us, but any fix to the TF/SF Difficulty Slider is risky in that it is code which effects the whole game. We have to be very careful when working with this code because any changes can have significant and unforeseen ramifications. It takes a lot of time, especially testing time, and if we're going to take this amount of time we want to deliver a fix to you guys that isn't just a work around hack, but that delivers a fully working product. |

Annnnnd you know this how?
Because an official person person told us those words exactly ...

Whoops, sorry read Cat's quote too quick. Thought that was his own quote.
Alright so we wait.
I use -1 on some of my toons. With the current lack in general population, my Defender has an easier time completing missions on blue and green minions (even if they're frontloaded, the highest a boss gets is yellow) when I'm soloing with him. It's still not easy, but doable. Not everyone is after power-leveling... kinda-leveling works fine for now until people start coming back online (being patient for the Going Rogue release.) I really don't see a developer taking an issue with a player nerfing themselves in order to pass a mission. (Less XP, longer play, more game time spent.)
Autocompleting missions on a toon every three days without playing them at all is another way of saying that one of my alts is one step away from deletion for me. (I don't mind doing it on upcoming hairpulling excursions, e.g.: completing Frostfire in the Hollows with a Controller, but it shouldn't be the only way to progress a toon.) Just because you don't like an option doesn't mean it's useless for everyone, but I'm sure you have an impassioned diatribe about how I'm wrong, so I'll leave it at that. (Also, Catwhoorg is right: Read page 1 on this thread for Mod 08's response.) |
I sitll stand by the fact that it's "new" code and shouldn't have that much of an impact. If it does then something's wrong.
Yup, I've got no issues at all with the -1 thing, it has a number of uses and is another option which is good, but this is really dragging on and grating now.
My concern, which is only growing as we hear nothing of training room fixes or any progress on this, is that this may become "working as intended" in which case I wish they'd just come out and say it. The problem started in October, when does a temporary fix stop being temporary? I was willing to give the Dev's the benefit of the doubt when this hit, but that belief only goes so far.
Mod? Kim? Anyone in Red? Is this actually being looked at? Is it on the backburner to invasions and GR? Anything?
The pellet with the poisons in the Vessel with the Pessel, the Chalice from the Palace has the brew that is true...
I had no problem with the -1 either. I would not choose to do a MO run on a -1 because I like the challenge but if others want to do an MO run on that setting then that is also fine by me. I do not need to set the value of the badge or the achievement of completing based on what others have/have not done.
That is why I choose in the main part not to ghost or speed run sf's/tf's but not that bothered if others are doing it.
It is also why I like to run tf'sf's on a decent diff setting.....
I also completely understand why some choose to flashback on a -1 setting if they have a toon that is not built to solo as the difficulty is all relevant to what you are playing and what team if any you are on.
I saw the phrase 'one way to play mentality' what is removing the diff levels then if not forcing 'one way to play'?
An now we hear rumblings of Motherships are going to be appearing in Atlas and the Rikti are coming, if it is anything like the Winter Lord after a few nights there will not even be enough people in the zones on Villain side Union to take it down.
I would like to see another red name update please on the diff levels please, some idea of timescale if it is going to be fixed or as Angelstar said a statement that it is going to stay as is.
Still no news on this??
Sheesh, TF's are the most fun part of this game, sooner this is fixed the better!
When was the last time any official word came through about this issue?
We built this city on Rock and Roll!
Whenever mod 8 posted, maybe a few months ago?
EDIT: November 23rd, so 2 months ago
Maybe we'll see this fix in I17...
IF there is anything going to test today, then we MIGHT see something today. I wouldn't bet on it though.
