Where have all the players gone?
Welcome back
I think there's the usual in-between-Issues-quiet-period going on right now - plus, the holiday season can take up a lot of time.

WB! I'm exclusively redside, so you might see me running around. lol
I've max-leveled 12 of the 14 slots (2 vet slots) I have on Pin, so I've moved on to a new server. The game has gotten so easy to hit 50 and to do so quickly, that the 12 standard slots per server are just not enough. But then it costs too much to add more slots, and what's the point when you can just move to a new server where it's free It's not like starting a new base and getting established in a new home takes all that long (can do it with a couple of alts) considering they reduced all the construction costs and rent.
I wish the game was more challenging and variable, so hitting 50 wasn't a month-long jog. I wish there was new content added for the end game, so there was a reason to break out the 50s, but all we get are more gimmicky SFs that everyone just wants to speed rush. And I wish there was a point to server allegiance, but why stand around twiddling your lvl 50's thumbs when you could roll a new alt and try some fresh powersets?

Yeah Pinnacle isn't what it was like in it's prime, but it's still pretty awesome and still has that different sense of community you don't get from the other servers.

Yeah, I'm sticking around to see what it's about, but will it be enough to repopulate the game remains to be seen. Regardless, I don't know whether it will encourage me to play old characters or new ones. I need more info like if the crossover content is only available to non-praetorian pre-existing characters or not. Because if it's available to all, then I might as well roll a couple new alts and hit that and praetorian stuff at the same time. Which would lead me to look for another new server in all likelihood.

Another rumor is that you go through a portal to a new dimension kind of like Recluses victory and in that zone you are either, hero or villain.(your choice) That's what rumors are but I have yet to see any proof.

Well right now rumors are that they are raising the level cap to 60, it's not to far off because ever since positron was made lead we have seen a lot more content a lot faster. We also are getting everything we have ever asked for, like AE. Also they have raised the level cap before, back when villains came out it was only 40. (EDIT: watch this I go from off-topic and turn it around to the topic)So if they raise it to 60 we would see a huge increase in people.

So the rumors you've been hearing are almost surely false ones.
Thats good because a level cap raise is simply a band-aid. It wouldnt truely help the state of late game content, just add ten more lvls to grind to get to cap.
The level cap was 50 long before villains came out. The level cap for VILLAINS when CoV first came out was 40, and they were increased to 50 to match heroes shortly afterwards once the Grandville content was completed. The developers have stated multiple times that they don't have plans to increase the level cap and that it would, in fact, be a bad idea.

After that totally off topic post. I think the majority of the players tried Champions online, there were some like me who thought the game was just a craptastic game and there were others who liked it, and left to it.
I honestly think CoH is one of the more popular mmos out there. Yeah theres LOTRO and WoW, but I don't know many people that have left to those games and stayed over there. They all usually come back. We will probably see a lot more people when the new update comes out, level cap or not.

Didn't know I had to clarify that it was only on villain side. Anyways that's just your opinion, usually when a level cap is raised they do more to the content and fix problems while creating new problems. It's just your opinion about them being false or true, no way to prove that unless someone who actually knows what's going on behind the scenes talks about the level cap dealeo. I'm all for a level cap increase if they did one, they have plenty of time to prep for the increase by fixing some of the problems.

Too many problems with increasing a level cap. First, it sets a precedent. If they do it once, when people rush to it and burn through all the new content, they'll have to do it again, and again, and again.
Second, all the top end enhancements will be made obsolete by now being 10 (or more) levels below the cap. So all those people who spent all that time tricking out their favorite characters will have to do it all over again with whatever they come out with to replace the good stuff.
There's other stuff too, but those two seem to be the most major concerns.
As far as the population question goes, between November and January or so there is usually a slump in activity while people are doing other things. With the holidays coming up people are spending time in the real world with family. There was a slump in late August too as a lot of the kids went back to school and couldn't spend all day playing anymore.
A lot of people I know are still playing, just not for as long at a stretch. Some did quit for other games, but that's normal and isn't having as huge an impact as some would lead you to believe.

To the OP, Pinn redside is dead. Fine for me because I solo most of the time, but I always feel bad when I see broadcasts for folks looking for teams and never getting a reply.
Be well, people of CoH.
Im still here, well kinda sorta, when do get time to play its now usually on Freedom sadly as thats where the PVP is at, Rv is Packed at almost all times, same for Sirens(which for those who know/knew me, know it was my fav zone and spent MANY a Hour there). From what Ive seen, it seems alot of people have made the transfer for the most part to there and Virtue(another good pvp Pop.) Mind you I havent really been playin all that much these last few months lol. but when I do, its for the Pvp,hence the move to Freedom. Its awesome to see Kickball going and all pvp zones active, like Pinnacle used to be Circa I7-12. AnyHooo, Howdy all, Cheers!!
I've been having a hard time finding teams redside and it seems the 2 Pinn global channels that I belong to are pretty dead. Anyone know of a really active global channel that I could get invited to? Perhaps the OP could use one, too.
SparkyMcShocker- main: Elec3 Blaster
pinnbadges is very rarely a dead channel.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please, but I think it's "Pinn Badges" now and you don't need an invite, but you will need a channel mod to unsilence you once you've joined.
Be well, people of CoH.
No, Bill, you got it wrong again. There's no space. Just Pinnbadges
Be well, people of CoH.
Alright guys, sorry for being wrong don't have to hate so much. I didn't know that they have stated they aren't raising the level cap. As for this discussion it has gone way to far off topic and I never meant for it to, I was just mentioning the expansion.

It's cool
Hello fellow Pinn-Heads.
I just returned to CoX after real life forced a 6 month hiatus from the game. I notice that the server seems almost dead, especially red-side.
Has most of the player base left for other MMOs (Champions Online I would guess) or are they just not excited about the game anymore until Going Rogue is released?
Just curious and even though the server population seems a lot lower, I'll still have fun blue and red side.
