A funny thought

Last night while laying in bed, I couldn't sleep so I starting to think about things. One of them was about the costumes you get of various foes and such. I was on the other day and racked up tons of new costumes while opening various doors in getting the notorious "Tricks" and then a plethora of "Treats".

So I thought to myself when I awoke at 1am this morning staring up at the ceiling, what if I changed into one of my costumes, lets say my Freakshow Tank Swiper costume and stood in a group of other Freakshow villains, disabled my display name so others wouldn't see it unless maybe they clicked on me to see that I was really a hero or villain in disguise and they couldn't kill me unless I was in a PvP zone. I might get a "Oh My" response or how come you didn't die when I pounded you?...lol Keep in mind that I would take a higher level, such as my 50 toon, so I wouldn't draw aggro from my foes to bring suspicion to me. This might work with my Carny costume, or Hellon costume,...heck, I could hang out in The Hollows around some low level 8 or level 10 villians and pretend to be one of the gang...lol. Then, some unsuspecting player comes along and starts to zap me and nothing happens...hehe. Do you see the fun?

Has anyone else had devious thoughts about this?

Well, first of all, you can't disable your display name on other people's screens. Only they can do that

Playing a Freakshow Respec with everyone in Freakshow costumes is amusing though, names or not.

Yes. But then I quickly realized that the game mechanics would not allow this to work in anything but a role-played encounter.

Unless you have that special freak tank temp power from some story arc; the Halloween costumes don't even provide any kind of stealth, so anyhting that would normally attack you (-3 con), would (no hanging about in PvP zone mobs)...

Hmmmm,..I could of swore I saw something in the options menu that allowed you to either enable or disable your display name above your head. I've never done this before so I cannot be sure how this would work. Maybe this was for pets,..who knows? I'm gonna have to check it again and see.

You are right, you can disable the name above your head.. but like he said, it is only effective for your own screen. Other people can still see your name.

When I'm playing with a specific friend of mine, I always toggle on an appropriate costume if possible (I have all the con costumes except harlequin and praet.clock). He repeatedly and often forgets that players have access to these costumes, and frantically tries to kill me. It is a source of endless amusement for me.

The best is when he tries to put drop powers under me. "BURN, BADGUY! BURN!~ whyyyyy isn't it dyyyin--- DAMMIT AGGE!!!!"

On another side note you can't use those costumes in PvP zone anyway either.

Doubt that will work with some players...
Along those same lines, I have a "Longbow" character as well.

She is a Widow named "Longbow Spy-duh", which makes the name even look like a regular longbow as well.

Is there a resemblance? lol

I have the Spec-Op right down to the Badge title, and the ability to use a Stealth power. lol
I want that leg belt... bah! lol

Well, their chest symbol (which you're missing) is one of the vet rewards (don't recall which)

Nope, Freedom Corps is not included in that list of symbols... at least not in the 30-month one.

Besides.. even if it WAS available, you can't use it at the same time as the Stealth piece I have on anyway.

I would frequently get yelled at by teams in their twentys, cause my corruptor looked like a Family Consigliere.
