Been awhile, what's new?
Other than the addition of PvP IOs and nerfing of elusivity in I14, there have been no non-arena changes except bug fixes. There was quite a bit of attention given to the arena in I14 and a few tweaks since then, but as a whole, PvP hasn't changed since I13 and most of us have given up hope of anything positive happening in the next year or so (in other words, it's just as much a joke as it was when they changed it).
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
Even with all the joke changes they did to pvp, you can turn off the diminishing returns in pvp and have matches that are pre-i13.
Personally i think they should dump travel suppression and the heal decay....the DRs are bad enough as is :/
LOL i meant to say that you could turn off the diminishing returns in arena matches not in pvp.....I didn't realize what I had typed till it was too late.......thats what happens when you start to type before you finish thinking XD
uh no you can turn off travel supression, heal decay and diminishing returns.... 3 things - problem with that is DR puts most toons at res cap with their epic sheild - (75% for most) a number never reachable in arena in i12 - so DR remains on ..but that messes up global recharge and io bonus stacking..with HD and TS off you can get kinda close to i12 pvp...but not really.
similiar to i12 for damage toons maybe...
Considering turning off DR breaks the system, I dont count it. It isnt viable until the PvP res thats given is able to be turned off. So yeah you can change three, but the last one doesn't really work out too well.
Turning off TS, HD, and DR gets you close to I12 except for the base resistances, mez changes, slow changes, and damage changes... so it's really not all that similar. :/

Nothing like the same.
Fossilize hits you for 253.2 points of smashing damage!!!
WTF?
Someone didn't slot it for damage or proc it
Duel me.
I will work on my sig pic more when I have time.
My shield/ss tank's Fossilize clears 300 on squishies with defense shields, and that's before the 2 procs potentially add to that lol. Someone was bad mouthing my tanks damage last night, so I pulled the numbers and posted them in broadcast. I did 1033 damage to a corruptor with 4 attacks...3 are ranged attacks...and I'm a tank. Nerf please?
how has PvP faired in the open PvP zones since my last days among the CoX community?

1. PvP 2.0 completely destroyed test arena PvP. It literally does not exist anymore. Those that stayed in the game naturally spend more time in zones now.
2. PvP in general became far less popular, with lots of people quitting altogether. This led to PvP on basically every server except Freedom to die completely. People that still wanted to PvP pretty much all transferred to Freedom.
So basically, PvP is a joke compared to how it used to be, there are far less people doing it than before, but specifically zone PvP on Freedom is as active as ever, maybe even more so.
also the retarded/not_retarded ratio in freedom zones is about three times higher than pre-i13.
If you're on freedom, chances are, RV will be even busier that you remember. 2 reasons for this.

Yes, I used to PvP on Freedom before I left the game. At least it is good to hear that Freedom PvP has not died altogether. Even though my account is active, I still will be unable to actually play the game until around late January, if not a bit later.
I did not mind most of the PvP changes, the toggle drop thing became a bit annoying, but easily adaptable. The whole thing with the travel power suppression is what really lead me to leave the game. To me, it was like they took what this game had above all others (The pure speed of PvP in this game) and dumped it into some unknown river where nobody would ever retrieve it. I just could not and probably never will be able to get into the slow movement of the new PvP in this game.
But, after being away from this game for quite some time, and trying other games on for size (Not any of the other hero type games, I did not sell out) I find myself wanting to come back to this game and hopefully reestablishing myself in the PvP community.
Be warned though, I do whatever it takes (Outside of droning) to win. I do not chit-chat in the zones, I get my kills and I get the hell out of there. So if you happen to fall short of victorious to any of my onslaughts, understand that I aim to win, and it is nothing personal other than the fact that your dead corps has just added to, or upheld my reputation.
P.S. And for those of you who remember my annoying butt, be warned; when next I show my face, I will not be alone. "Dar be a vicious woman aboard dis ship! And she aims to kill along meh side!"
Love, it's a wonderful gift!!!

Bring it!!! 2 for 1 sounds good to me oh, welcome back BTW
i drone to win quite often.
you're not hardcore enough.
I do not need a drone to win though, I have an Assassin's Strike and a woman to fight along my side! "Hell hath no furry like a woman's scorn." If that is not hardcore...
See y'all soon!
If GR allows ATs to cross over and things like hero stalkers pop up, its gunna be fun. Stalkers are squishy yo.
i wish there were more FCers...it was fun killing them...
oh and btw is it just me or this guy was RPing?
Wow, I sure hope not, because that would really give me wicked clowning rights if you were to be owned by an RPer in the open PvP Zones. o.0
you would be amazed...
I don't doubt that, I may end up eating my own words there, heh.
quite so...
Been a good long time since I have played City of Heroes/Villains. Last time I was here, PvP had become what I would have considered a joke. Travel Power Supression had reached it's extreme, yet unbarable limits... Mez resistance had become a joke to anyone who had actually invested to resist it and stacking mez had become usless. PvP as I had known it had changed to a point that turned myself away from even wanting to participate.
Of course I am sure that the whole problem with Defence vs Accuracy has not changed, that has always been an issue and probably always will be, but I am currious, how has PvP faired in the open PvP zones since my last days among the CoX community?
Just so that you know, I have not, nor probably ever will be a big Test Server PvPer, just never was my gig, but regardless, I am still an active PvPer in the open zones. Has anything changed in PvP since those days? I know we now have some type of PvP IOs these days, but other than that, is there hope in the PvP future that I can look forward to? If there has been anything that has changed in PvP since I have left, I would appreciate any info that would consist as an oppinionated update. Thanks.
