As a month of spam kicks off over the next 24 hours around the globe, I know some arc writers will be otherwise indisposed.

Unless they're being a Rebel NaNo and writing arcs instead... that's my backup plan.

But I will initially try to resist the CoH urge through November, although it will be strong. Good luck to anyone else trying to write a novel this month!

Never have I. Well, maybe I did way back in grade school but I've never heard of it since.

Oh, *I* have... until the advent of new-babyhood around our home this year, my wife was always sequestered in her study this time of year. I, on the other hand, manned the fort and left my writing aspirations for another day -- limited so far to various short pieces, stuff having to do with my day job, a partially finished novel that'll likely never see print and two MA arcs in City of Heroes.

I can't write novels. Any time I have a story idea, I'm finished by page 6.

I can't help it if I'm just so darned efficient.

Wow, I'd thought for sure knowledge of this was more widespread. Looks like things might not get sparse after all.

Yeah, I can't write novels either. Short stories are definitely my preferred writing style.

Never heard of this, but good luck reading and writing. See you in December then, where you will have lots of backlogs to go through.

Good luck with your novel.

You will be missed!

I'm amazed at how people can write a whole novel in a month.

I think I've done something like a chapter of my novel in the last month. Then again, I'm doing hilariously unreasonable amounts of research on it (who says you can't use real Science in Science Fiction? )

Hehe <^_^> I'm already engaged <._.> I've done NaNo every year the last 4 years. Never won yet... maybe this year is mine though eh? <,<

@Aliana Blue - One of hte key things is that in NaNo - your work doesn't have to be *good*.

It's an exercise to just get *something* done, no matter how crappy. Once it's done, if it's not too awful, you can always edit it for improvement <^_^> It's basically a chance to write without consequence; get your confidence up, and move forward.

Well, I suppose I can always pull one of the ideas from my idea hat and see where that goes.

(It's actually a notebook I carry around with me and where I write any idea that crosses my mind that could be put down on paper. I've got a few there.)

Hehe, that's a good way to do it <^_^>

I've been working on a story I started when I was 16. It has changed greatly since then <,< but it's finally taking shape at least!

Usually page 6 is when I get bored and go on to do something else. I just don't have the attention span and dedication to write a novel.

Okay, great idea this thing. But I think they really need to find somebody to work on their website. My mind was shocked right back to the 90's when I saw it's lack of style, poor formatting and unappealing visuals.

People can write a novel in a month eh? Good for them!

I'm the opposite.

I started a short story and now it's 144 pages long and not even close to done
