Do you know about the movie that is coming out called "The Box"?

So the Question is who would be that unlucky person, after you pressed the red button on the box?

If it's as bad as it looks, the producer of the movie, or maybe the director and writer.

Someone you don't know.

And then the box goes to someone else for the same choice. Someone you don't know . . . .

Here's the thing about buttons ... You see a nice big button ... you have no idea what that button does ... EVENTUALLY you will push it, because curiosity will get the better of you.

The movie seems boring, you're told what happens when the button is pushed ... and what will happen if she doesnt push it ... Anyone with a brain would push that button just to keep their family and friends safe. The million bucks is just a bonus. Who the unknown is that dies is really irrelevant, that wouldn't be on my mind when pressing that button.

"So if I press the button once, I get 10 million?"

Aren't the previews implying that it ends up being one of the family that pushes the button that is selected as the person to die? Maybe I'm reading too much into the tiny clips they show. Interesting concept, but I think I've read about a dozen science fiction stories that seem to be based on the same general theme.

I mean, what bad could transpire when murder is involved?
Brilliant plot.

The trailer just makes me go "buwh?"

Push the button, kill someone, get $1M.
Dont push the button... consequences?

Obviously someone with that sort of coin and can kill people indiscriminately can be a major pain if you dont play along. Press the button, take the coin, and move on with life. End of movie.

I would've said it looks ok but then i saw that Cameron Diaz was to be the main so it will epicly fail.

I take it no one else here saw the Twilight Zone episode it's a ripoff, er, uh, remake of?

In that one, the conditions were "push the button, you get $1,000,000 [obviously upgraded for the movie], but someone you don't know will die."

Of course, they push the button, they get the money, and the guy says, "now I'm going to give it to someone you don't know." [emphasis mine in both places]

I always interpreted it as the last person who pushed the button is the next one that dies.

What gets me is how can they take a story that was boring as a half-hour TV episode, and make a full movie out of it?

I take it you've never seen an episode of Star Trek or the X-Files then?

*ducks and heads for cover*

I know the trekkies will want my blood after that comment.

Meh.

The monkey's paw would have made a much better movie . . . With a much cooler concept.

Shame that hollywood would have still ****** it up.

I'm sure the movie is terrible, but the question is an interesting one I have studied in game theory before.

I Look forward to Rifftrax.com tearing this movie apart. that's pretty much the only thing I can think of =P

I'd be too busy staring at the hole in the guys face to push the button.

As a Trek fan, I forgive you. :P

Actually, except for it being the first Star Trek since the Original Series went off the air, and a very nice redesign of the ships, ST:TMP was rather long and slow, and seriously lacking in originality. The rest of the movies are all over the map, just like the various series.

But the episode of Twilight Zone was slow and boring, even as an episode of the series. I don't see how they can get an hour and a half out of a concept that doesn't work for even 20 minutes.
