GR - Where is your character at?

I find it most interesting that my two 'mains' will end up in different camps. The villain becoming heroic because he will refuse to bow to anybody and the hero becoming villainous because she wants to punish and protect so badly that she will be sucked into Cole's trap of the false Utopia.

Almost all of my characters will go Vigilante/Rogue. This is because I overwhelmingly prefer the gameplay Redside, but Blueside is so much more populous. My concepts tend towards more murky moral and ethical foundations anyway, so this won't really be out of character for any of them.

The exceptions: Euroclydon (my first and greatest Storm/Elec Defender) and Lunaticia (my Elec/Elec Brute and favorite character of all time) will be sticking strong with their original factions until I figure out what the impact of changing would be on their badges... since they're my two main badge characters. Again, both have very solid in-character causes to stick with their sides. It should come as no surprise that my most often played Hero and Villain are my most Heroic and Villainous characters respectively. But I could imagine both drifting to the other side and back, as well.

My namesake, Eisenzahn, is likely to be my only character to immediately pursue the path of total redemption. He's a nasty guy, a killer for hire and self-described "scariest man alive", but he's always had good intentions (no matter how deep he's let them get buried), and I can imagine a solid storyline for his return to good.

Out of my villians I can really only see a few that could move into something heroic.

I have 5 combat robots (One for each AT called Device One, Two, Three...etc.) that could be steered towards the good guys side but this is really only because they aren't really that smart. Each robot has the sapience and intelligence of a horse or dog, complex moral judgements are beyond them. They just do what their pack leader, a human, tells them to do.

It would be an easy matter for a new human owner to take these robots and use them for good purposes.

I have a another villian a corruptor named Quark Zombie, who is kind of like Galactus or Lovecraft's cosmic entities, human morality doesn't really apply. Quark Zombie's acts might be viewed as enormously evil but really, its worse than that, it's indifference in the hands of a astronomically powerful creature. To Quark Zombie humans are no more important than ants.

So I guess I could go into the middle ground with Quark Zombie occassionally doing things that are good as long as they met its inscrutable goals. It may help good guys while at the same time plotting to gain the power needed to turn off the sun for some silly reason. The indifference of cosmic entities can be interpreted lots of ways.

On the hero side, I have a blaster that a I started off as a joke, Robot Lenin. But as I invented a backstory for him he became more and more serious. Now I have to really think about the morality of an android with a brain tape of VI Lenin's personality. He could wind up going into the grey area pretty easiliy.

Beyond that, I don't have any borderline cases. My heroes and villains are pretty black and white.

So far these are the characters I have plans for when Going Rogue comes out

Temeluchus, will have her soul restored to her body and go on a path of redeeming herself for the evil that was commited when she lost her soul to power. So plan to go full hero with her.

Madame Phantom, will end up going vigilante with her. She has the Punisher mindset. As far as she's concerned the only good criminal is a dead criminal. Has no desire in giving anyone with a criminal past a chance at redemption and will go to any kind of extreme to see criminals dead.

I only have concrete plans for one of my characters so far, a Traps/AR defender who's a Punisher-type toon. He'll be going vigilante for certain. There's a lot of potential for side-switching with a great number of my characters, but nothing set in stone yet.

I'll probably be rolling a lot of new toons once GR gets here, rather than move many of my existing ones around.

Well, hmmm.... I've got about 48 toons, so I'm not going to go into detail here on everything.

However, I'll share a couple of my mains here:

VestigeOne is my fav character to play on... He's a Warshade, and started out doing good. However, he has a pretty violent, dark side that turns many "pure" heroes off to his tactics (think the darkest possible Batman story you might be able to come up with). He's got good intentions, but he can't necessarily be fully trusted by the heroes to do exactly what he's "supposed" to do in order to "arrest" the bad guys. He's also (in his unpublished backstory) done a lot of "undercover" work, which seems to have messed with his psyche a bit. Therefore, I believe VestigeOne will be firmly planted in Rogue territory.

AlienOne (my Peacebringer) on the other hand, could be considered the "ultimate" hero (think Golden Age Superman as a Kheldian). Barring any future stories I may come up with as an "excuse" to get him to play red side, I truly believe he will be one of my blue-siders that will remain "true blue."

"Alien"

Well being a badge-wh.. umm badge-affordable friend & based on the info that a hero go vigilante before the final step. I do ponder if my main badger will go vigilante a moment or two to get the villain badges. And then it was that 'reward thing' for staying true...
But until we know more I will leave it to that thought.

As for where my chars are in the morality compass:
Lady Arete, reformed criminal and sorceress and released after the first rikti war. Have worked since then besides heroes to redeem herself in her own eyes. She is serious, focused and fights Circle mages at any oppertunity.
(Also my main badger so... this will be interesting) Sure she might see herself above the law a few times (Oh no... the Circle mage had a fatal accident) but else she wants to keep the status quo or even better if possible (with others).

Cyrene. Heroine through and through. She works hard to preserve nature, have fun and keep the villains in check. Her tender heart might be her undoing (we will see). Person type: Caretaker and optimist.

Amardin. The robot that wants to become human. Ok she has no moral compass (accidently deleted), but has begun making her rules. She wants to better herself and does so through tecktheft and smuggling, experiment etc... She has become uncertain of why she is still on the isles though and begun wondering about hero society and their world. They seem to work together without fear of being backstabbed (Are they naive or are they on to something, but what?) They seem to generally want to help people (Do they got an agenda or...?) They obey rules and do not attack each other. There seem to be a different law system there and here... Something is... do not compute!

Even got a clone villain version of Cyrene, but due to RP I have a feeling she might go Rogue aswell. Only problem, I will then not have a Pain corr on red side

Else not sure if any (or who) of my chars will take the step and change side completely. Got quite a few in that grey zone inbetween though.

My main, Claws and Effect, is most definitely a vigilante. His intentions are good, but he is absolutely ruthless when it comes to achieving his goals. His main goal is the complete obliteration of all things Crey, with other villain groups falling on and off his $#!t list as the game progresses.

His theory is that the bad guys can't do bad things if they're dead. He has no qualms about jamming a claw into a Crey Tank's eye socket and watching him twitch, but he draws the line at innocents or Crey employees who (may) have been duped. In order to become a Crey tank it's a safe bet you know what Crey is all about, hence his willingness to make their defeat a little more permanent. He has no mercy at all for Paragon Protectors (some of his research went into creating them, part or where his vendetta came from). He won't kill indiscriminantly, but those he feel deserve it get no quarter.

Black Sunshine, my main villain, is more of a rogue. He's an alternate timeline version of Claws, not Praetorian, but hailing from another dimension altogether. Remember the mission where you discover your hero caused the end of the world and only ghosts are left? Black Sunshine is a version of Claws from a world like that where the ghosts didn't kill him. On his world, his causing the end of life on Earth was an accident, and he found a world (ours) where an alternate version of himself is on the verge of repeating that accident. His goal is to stop that version through any means necessary. He was branded a villain and placed in the Zig after attacking Claws (a registered hero) in public.

My blaster Marshall Stack is a true hero. He's already atoning for a death on his conscience and doesn't want any more. He will most likely never go rogue.

My brute on the other hand, Tsepes, is a true villain. He's a direct descendant of "Dracula", who was actually a mutant and not a true vampire at all. But back then no one had any idea what a mutant was, so his abilities were attributed to the supernatural because they had no other explanation for them. He's following in his ancestor's footsteps in (more or less) pure evil. He might go rogue to amuse himself, but he has no morals to speak of, and is basically a walking natural disaster who can explode at any time for little or no reason. The only thing he won't do is harm a child, so something like that may make him an enemy of the villain higher-ups. But it would be because it just pissed him off rather than any true sense of justice. He does things for his own reasons, which no one but him seem to understand, and even his understanding is questionable.

There are a few others, but those 4 have the most fleshed out backstories.

Capt. Stormrider - Just a simple pirate, all about taking what isn't his. Stormrider isn't interested in power struggles or world domination, he's happy to knock over a bank and then knock back a hard drink. But Stormrider has also show in the past that he's willing to work with the heroes to stop bigger threats such as the Rikti. He'll always be a shameless criminal, but he's got little interest in joining the Praetorian loyalists.

Rose Prince - Prince is a misguided villian, a young man who only wants to save the beauty of nature. Unfortunately, he believes the only way to do this is by crushing civilization and herding humans like cattle. Most likely Praetoria will be very attractive to him, and will leave him with alot to think about. I've always considdered Rose Prince to be "on the line" with his pure intentions and evil methods, so it could go either way.

Emerald Dervish - Well, Dervish is a Djinn, and as such is inherantly superior to humans. His goal has always been to wipe out humanity and prove their inferiority, and that will never change. The loyalists and rebels of Pratoria are no differant than two rats fighting over garbage.

The Dollmaster - Is effin' crazy. Nothing else really to it.

Dr. December - Dr. Henry December is a hero all the way, a kind-hearted scientist whose accidentally gained powers became a tool for bringing peace to the streets of Paragon. So he won't be switching sides any time soon. But no doubt the scientist in him will be more than a little curious about Praetoria...

Ectofreak - Is also effin' crazy, but in a Deadpool way. But he's a good guy where it counts, and isn't going to go switching sides. He's gonna have to come up with a ton of new wisecracks, though...

My brute is already sort of a rogue. His backstory is basically what would happen if "The Evil Countess Crey" arc went horribly horribly wrong.

He's not a bad guy, and he does his best to help people in the Rogue Isles, but he's trapped on the wrong side of the pond because, for all extents and purposes, he's been labled a "villain".
