GR Costume Pieces

Waaaay back, just before i6 went live, the call went out for various costume-related requests. Most notably, only villains had access to the i6 costume pieces. It wasn't until i7 that there was an unofficial work-around for heroes to access those pieces, and not until i8 that there was an official way for players to obtain those costume pieces.

Someone (*cough*Jack*cough*) stated that Cryptic had NO IDEA that heroic players would want those costume pieces. (*cough*Horsepucky*cough*)

Before we ever reach that point with the new expansion, let me ASSURE all the Paragon devs that are working on Going Rogue content that YES, players will want access to the content they've paid for! Please make all GR content as widely available as possible to the player base, heroic, villainous, rogue, alien, spy, monster, pre-schooler, or what have you.

Personally, I feel that having mechanisms in place to earn that content similar to the Vanguard Merit system is okay... but not at level 35 plus. The costume makes the character, and if the character has to wait until level 35 to access the costume, then that costume CAN'T make the character. (see i9 'Fairy Wings')

However, if I have to wait a solid freaking YEAR to have access to the content, I'm going to scream bloody murder.

Amen.

Nemesis kit. Column kit. SWAT kit. There are work arounds, but there shouldn't have to be.
And PLEASE DEAR LORD ON A STICK, do something about the Vanguard costume. Reduce the costs, bundle it into one unlockable that costs 100, make merits earnable at lvl 1...anything other than the fail we have right now.

And I might just forgive Jay for his past sins with some of the GR kit. It does look good...

I'm waiting for the next 'Sybil' outfit:

"Hey, look at these really cool, really attractive costume pieces! Oh, by the way, you can't have these. Sorry, NPC-only."

Ech yes, really want the Resistance costume pieces, more so than the Praetorian Clockwork. We already have robot/cyborgs stuff but no decent tech armour which the Resistance members are using, kind of looks like a sleeker, more heroic, version of the Freakshow outfits.

I am kind of an odd person, even as far back as Streets of Rage 2, I've wanted to play as the enemy mobs, specifically the bosses, not for their sheer overpoweredness they would be in such a game, even if they toned them done to be on the same level as other characters.

I understand that most NPCs are built from the ground up with only those specific parts in mind. The most idiotic one was a specific mustache for an unnamed Midnighter of no importance made it into the costume creator during beta testing. It was one of the proper '1800s British explorer' style ones and would have gone awesome with the monocle....

no...it was NPC only...this isn't a signature NPC piece...it's used on a nobody NPC and I never understood why it was pulled. Signature NPC parts I can understand, no matter how much I yern to have a Clockwork King Brain in a jar style headpiece, it ain't gonna happen.

After the Vanguard were introduced I assumed that had changed, each added villain group would allow for players to unlock their costumes in some way. Of course the Sybils proved otherwise (something about breaking the 'one cape rule' which frankly is bupkiss considering you can have the Bridal hair with trail and a cape).

Lets be brutually honest here...we're not going to be ever seeing any of the legacy NPC costumes on players...ever. Despite the fact I reckon they could easily sell them at a larger cost as a big booster pack called 'Enemy Mine...' to keep the cost down, don't include any additions of temp powers or emotes or anything as amazing as the Science booster pack (bodyshape changing) and just have it as purely costume pieces.

I have to totally agree. I despise the Rikti Raid (it really sucks on characters with no Mezz protection) and the pure amount of Vanguard Merits you have to get is (and I do not use the word lightly) obscene.

Still here, even after all this time!

I leveled my Dominator from 35-50 almost exclusively in the RWZ (Only missions I did outside of that was my patron arc, cause Grandville caused my computer to die a slow painful death everytime I zoned into the place) and I STILL don't own all the Vanguard constume pieces (And I've never wasted my merits on any of the temp powers).

I can only imagine how much more annoying it would be if I had Weapons to unlock as well.

Did you also get the Costume Change emote?

In relation to the Vanguard pieces, the mothership raids are the fast track to getting all of them and then looking for temp powers to waste VanMerits on. On both Shekinah Oldsoul and Praetorian Grey, I ended up with all of the costume pieces after the fourth or fifth mothership raid, after that is just to get Heavies for those particularly epic battles.

But I second wanting Resistance costume pieces.

All that is planned fails. All that is born dies.
All that is built crumbles. This will always be true.

But memories remain, And that is beautiful.

Only recently. I finished up leveling my Dom way back just shortly after the RWZ revamp. He's been largely retired since. (not particularly a fan of Villain side).

Yeah I agree the Vanguard costume is a great example about how not to offer earnnable cossie options, although I do understand the logic behind it - make the players actually play the arcs.

Clearly the Dev's learned from this, and with the "Roman" costume outfit they got it right - complete the TF, get the cossie. (Why they have not retroactively done that for LGTF I don't know.)

Personally I like the fact that some cossie options need to be earned - that's kind of heroic/villainous in its own right, a right of passage maybe - but Vanguard's just too much.

Let's hope (and I believe the Dev's will take this on board) that GR will offer much more scope.

I want to talk about costume pieces, but it's too early since we didn't see any new one on actual players. I like that the reflective options are actually reflective, but I'll wait for more info.

As a robot, I call BS on that.
DECENT Robot parts are inceredibly hard to make. The choice of boots outside of monstrous tech legs is appalingly low. all the old boots look horrible, with club feet. Really, really ugly.

The new clockwork actually look robotic, though. The chest has decent gaps, wiring and cables. The arms look robotic. ALL of it looks robotic.
I know I'm getting me a new chassis, Praetorian style, when this comes out!
That and show whoever built 'em just who is the technological mastermind around here.

Sexy Jay said that when he was designing the Praetorian Clockwork, that he wanted that Terminator-style exposed spine. You can totally see it in the Praetorian Clockwork temp costume power.
