Halloween Salvage

Simple question about it; when's the best time to sell it?
Should I sell it during the Halloween event, slightly after it or long after it?

Long after.

Supply is replenished just once per year, and the demand is roughly constant. (It increases after new powersets come out due to a splurge of new alts).

Supply and demand pretty much dictates a rising price until the next years event. As it happens there is a bit of a 'clearance sale' before the event, so prices start to come down before the event proper.

Probably best to sell Halloween Salvage in July or August.

I never watched the prices during the off season. I stock up each Halloween for personal use and to give to friends; not to sell it. I have 72 sets now and 20 lowball bids on the market for each item.

Once upon a time, when Wentworths was first introduced, people were dumping that salvage like crazy. I bought 80 sets at 17,000 influence each (that's PER SET, not per piece).

If it helps with data for you, a few months ago (I am a bad marketer and didn't pay attention to when, but I'm guessing late August) I sold out all my Halloween salvage stock for 300-350k each item.

On a similar note, if you have candy canes: wow. I'm seeing spikes of over 1 million per cane right now. Anyone know if the prices will keep going up or is this about the height of it?

Wishing I'd saved up more last year but I was too much of a newb then to realize the value.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

One thing to note is that the new system of having the Halloween salvage from from the trick or treat baddies rather than the doors is creating a LOT more salvage, so the prices might very well go down and stay down compared to last year.

Thanks for the advice

I'll also stock up on Candy Canes when the time comes hehe

Personally I wouldn't bother stocking up on candy canes. Unlike Halloween Salvage they can't be turned in except during the Christmas event, so the year round demand for them is very low. They do spike a bit for the first day or so of the event but it's probably not worth the effort to horde them for a year for that. You might try stocking up on the winter recipes (particularly the level 10 version of Winter's Gift: Slow Resistance (20%)) although my experience (as a buyer not a seller) was that they were overstocked and weren't popular enough to really drive up the price (I bought several for 5-10mil each).

Don't stock up on Winter's Gift, either. It isn't a really popular IO, and there's not much demand for it.

They've extended the Halloween event by a week and they're increasing the rate at which the Banner event happens. I think Halloween salvage just became an even worse investment than it already was.

I am thinking of moving it out of base storage; it's only there for convenience' sake right now. But it's less costly, in one sense, to find four open salvage slots in the base whenever a character needs a set than it is to devote an entire salvage rack to it.

It might not be a big seller like it used to be, but I think it will sell ok on a double xp weekend.

Sort of a silly question, but what is halloween salvage used for?

There are four different pieces of halloween salvage, that drop from mobs that spawn as Tricks in the Trick or Treat event. Take one of each to an NPC in Croatoa or Nerva and you can obtain an extra costume slot, like the ones you can earn at 20/30/40.

The hero NPC is Annah, and she lives on the north wall beneath the train station in Croatoa.
The villain NPC is Granny Beldam, and she lives on the small island in Nerva where a villain group base teleporter will leave you.

I'm guessing candy canes will be in shorter supply this year than last. Last year most of the candy cane farms I saw had a bunch of high level toons running a low level toon's missions. That way they could complete it quickly. With SSK that won't be possible this year. It might be possible if the entire team broke up and reformed inside the mission without the mission holder, but I'm not sure that would work.

So I'm expecting the overall candy cane generation this year to be much less than previous years. Whether it will be low enough to make them a good investment I don't know. I doubt it. I think a lot of people stocked up on Winter's Gifts last year so there wont' be as much demand this time around.

I still have a handful in storage from last year. I'll be re-stocking my supply this year since it's running a bit low, but I won't need that many to have enough for all my current and future alts.
