AV missions acting strangely

Is this a known issue?

When running Tina arcs in PI, it appears that the AV get *double* the difficulty setting.

For example, i'm level 45 running at +3 level. The mobs are level 48 - but the AV shows up as level 52. He's +7, no way our team is going to take him down.

If you drop to +2, mobs are 47 - AV shows up as 50.

if you set to +1, mobs are 46 - AV is level 48.


Very frustrating - if you set the difficulty for the mobs, the AV is unbeatable. If you set it so you can beat the AV, then the mobs are too easy.

I also remember this happened on a bank mission - we were running it at +4, and the AV showed up as +8 to us - which we couldn't finish.

Anyone else noticed this?

Yes, I have had this happen to me several times. In each case the AV was at least +5 to the team leader, and the difficulty was only on +2...

It's very annoying, especially on timed missions...

Though I have not encountered this myself, I have heard a lot of people comment on this. Perhaps we should gather some quantifiable data (team size, level, difficulty settings, relevant missions and whatnot) and flag down Arbiter Kim?

Hmm... AVs typically CON +5 to the team leader, but should spawn according to mission difficulty. Could something have gotten cross-wired in that regard?

It's possible. I would assume that not even devs know for sure, unless they've already caught and fixed this for the next patch.

I think the most useful thing to do here would be to a) find out if this is happening for everybody, all the time, and b) if not, who is is happening to, and when?

Also, the addition in level is in addition to the "normal" level of the AV, in cases where an AV spawns at a specific level, like Tyrant never being below level 50. My level 48 tank and his team of level 47 sidekicks had to fight a level 52 Tyrant, even though the level was just set to +1. For comparison, the Marauder and Dominatrix we fought in the mission just prior spawned at level 50.

That was a really long and annoying fight. Even with a rad.

Aye they make for long battles, if your team can even handle it..

Just the other night I was on a villain side against a +5 Luminary...

We had a little bit of -Regen, mainly just Poison Trap and whatever good Dart Burst spam does against a +5 AV at level 50.

Anyways, it was a long battle, probably 30 minutes, got her to 1/4 then we encountered some bad luck and half the team wiped.. She regened to full, and we gave up.. Not what I call fun ;P

I started another thread about this a week or two ago. The Praetorian AVs are spawning at +4 if mission is set to +2. Thought it had to do with minimum spawn levels for the AVs, but heard last night about a lvl 50 mission spawning a lvl 54 AV.

Definitely something funky going on with AVs lately. I recently fought Silver Mantis twice in an 8-man team on a Safeguard. Both times we had to let her escape because we were in a complete stalemate, unable to damage her fast enough to beat her regeneration...

And these 8-man teams consisted largely of Blasters and Scrappers. There's something wrong with the world when a heavy-DPS team can't scratch a target.

It's also happening in AE arcs. Did an arc that belonged to a buddy of mine last night, difficulty was set at +2, X1, at level 50. We ended up having to wittle down the health of 2 AVs that were set at level 54.

**Edit: the AVs with the higher levels were custom. He had Numi in there, and she was the correct level.
