Not sure if it's better as a seperate thread or if maybe it would work better if Local Artists were the top part of the Network?? But either way, I will be keeping an eye on it!!

I think it's alright keeping it separate. The individual thread comes with a nice neon sign pointing both veteran, new, and collectors-yet-to-be to our very own CoH celebrity artists

id actually prefer there be less advertising not more , so im gonna pass on this .

I see the idea as less about advertising and more as just stating availability.
I, for one, wouldn't presume to just contact someone I saw was good at art and inquire if they took commissions... I'm just not that outgoing/pushy/whatever... but if there's a link or such somewhere that says they are then coolio.
Anyway, Gray, what's you're next step? Meaning are you going to contact the artists and see if they want inclusion or should the artists contact you or post here?
And when you are making it, a new thread may be better... Something nice and clean and without my chatter all over it
then im a bit lost on why we need additional stickied threads considering that stickied atop the forum is Thor's Assassin The Network - A Resource (revamped) thread which already lists artists both from the forum and DA .
do we really need a local artist thread stickied atop the forum as well as a new sales thread to go with TA's network thread ?
First I'm gonna see how this is received by the artists. If it's completely ignored, then that will be the sign I need to see that forums will return to how it has been. If a few artists post on this thread with their information then the next step would be to create a more formal thread displaying their information.
Pretty much I'm not going to hunt anyone down, I'm not a door-to-door salesperson. This is just an opportunity for our artist friends so they have a platform to bring business to them, only if they seek it. And like an opportunity, they can let it pass if they don't want it. Otherwise, we'll still have the Network to direct appreciators to artists both within and without the community.

What I'd like to most see is it all in TA's Network. I'd love to see the very first post dedicated to local's and then somewhere in there the latest deals as well... I agre that too many ad stickies isn't the best option.
Anyway, I've been posting too much Three days off in a row has got me chatty... Maybe I'll go level for a while
Liking that idea better and better every time I hear it

I'm all for people showing off their stuff, and offering their skills, but I wonder where the line is.
Commercial aspects aside, I think a collection of links to the galleries of the local artists would be a great thing. Especially since its rarely obvious who here has what DA page.

DA are jerks and won't let you change your name, even for a fee.
I figure it would be a good idea to set up a thread outside of the Network to house links for our current community artists. Here are just some of the functions this thread could have:
1. If you're a local artist and wouldn't mind being approached by local appreciators, then please let us know who you are and maybe link to your art page whether it's on dA or if you have a personal site.
2. If you're in need of community support let us know; honestly, I believe there are enough selfless people in our community to aid you at your standard commission prices (heck, even raise them if you need assistance before lowering them); no sales/discounts required. Community support should go both ways.
3. If you need to let the community know if you're opening or closing commissions, or if you only do art privately.
4. Advertising here should only be for the local artists; it can function as a single stop for everyone.
5. Of course there is more to do with this, be creative
Most importantly, I hope this helps bring attention to our local artists in their exclusive area. A place for potential clients to search locally first before going elsewhere. I'll even keep the OP updated to create a consolidated list.
