Contacts, can't I get a discount?

So, been playing the game for years. One thing has kinda bugged me, so I am making a suggestion.

Acquiring contacts is not an easy process. You must complete 3 paper missions, get the mayhem, finish that and then go back to the broker.

Don't have a problem with that. However, why the heck does the contact charge you double the quartermaster rate for enhancements? I thought this guy is on my side?

and now for the smart alek comment: The contact is working on the grey market. The Quartermasters are paid by Arachnos to sell to the Destined Ones. Contact's gotta make money somehow.

I have heard that historically contacts where intended to be the only way you could buy enhancements. My understanding was that was pre-release, maybe even pre-beta, but their price was set back then.

The idea of the contact selling stuff at a readuce rate makes sense to me though. Maybe their cost should reflect how much you've done for them. So early on you'd not get any from them. Then they'd sell you some at higher cost, as you did more missions their price would drop and finally when you've done loads for them they'd sell them to you cheaper than Quartermasters. Kind of them giving their "mate" a discount. To be honest the text from blue side contacts (older ones at least) suggests this is what should happen anyway.

There was a time when you could only get certain enhancements from contacts. The more "exotic" ones, like travel speed and endurance modification, and so on, were only available from contacts. I remember asking friends to buy enhancements for me from contacts they had unlocked, which weren't available in the (hidden, as in not marked on the map) stores. Back then it seemed like a huge part of the game was about finding the secret stores which would let you play your character properly...

Anyway, I agree that these prices should be fixed, or they should just remove the enhancements from the contacts altogether so poor newbs aren't tricked by the evil contacts into paying too much for their enhancements.

10% per tier, maybe?

With IOs as the big name in power enhancement now, a little discount would be flavorful.

But this might lead to people feeling pressured to do their origin's contacts, and there's a pretty big disparity in the early game between fighting Council and fighting, say, Vahzilok.

I like this idea, maybe it will make people play less Radio missions as well.

I approve.

LOL, this is me. Was doing the game thing, you know, getting contacts and such and thought, hey Golden Roller will scratch my back if I scratch his (with my claws).

Damn you Golden Roller! You roll down your window and look me in the eye when you charge me for this crap! I took the copter all they way to Mercy for you. I murdered that bum Ohanko for you. And for what? This stuff I can get from Joe the Quartermaster at half price?

I hope you have the gold plan for those Uniroyals. Claws are not only for slashing baddies.
