I just wanted to go on record as saying that your attempt to steal my "number as a name" persona has not gone unnoticed. 
Seriously though, I can't watch any videos while I am at work... or else I could probably answer your first question. As to the second? I don't, nor will I ever, PvP in this game.
It was a controller just look at the targeting recticle.
Edit: Secondary is Thermal Radiation you can tell this from the shields on his rock

It's the only high level controller I'm playing right now and I've colored the green healing flames to look like traditional yellow/orange fire.
Ha, first listening to that video I was thinking "I'm almost certain that music came from guyver" then I saw the costume.

i don't have much experience with controllers. still very new to this game.
looking at the combo briefly, it doesn't seem to be very pvp based and more for pve.
could anyone comment on how this works in a pvp setting?
What am i missing?

it is a stone/therm. i havent tried this combo but the thinking behind each is : stone decent damage on the hold and immob + -def so your debuffs from thermal land better. thermal: HE mainly and MA + self heal. -rec is annoying to fight against. On paper, a good pvp combo although it wouldnt be my first choice.

It was indeed a earth/therm troller. As far as trollers go for pvp, stone/therm is a beast combo. Stone does great damage and therm has some of the best debuffs in pvp. Add the self heal from therm and you have yourself a excellent pvp toon.

in the first 1-on-1 fight, he seems to be against an earth controller or dominator. Just wanted to ask 2 questions on this if it is a controller.
1. From from watching the vid, can anyone tell what secondary is being used?
2. How is stone control in pvp?
