Brute EA get less Defense than Stalkers!?
The Energy Aura power set is a bit different for Stalkers. It doesn't have Energy Cloak, so it has higher base values for the two defense toggles. A Brute running Energy Cloak and both defense toggles has the same smashing / lethal defense and slightly higher exotic defense as a Stalker running both toggles. The Stalker does get Hide, but much of Hide's defense suppresses in combat while Energy Cloak's does not... and Brutes also get a resist auto power that Stalkers don't. In the end, the Brute is going to be slightly tougher but will have to take a couple extra powers to do so.
And yes, it is a bit silly to require three toggles for the Brute to get the same benefit a Stalker does in two, but that seems to be common for Stalkers... look at Super Reflexes.

All right, I get it now. I thought Energy Cloak did suppress, wy I was a bit anrgy, but still, why are the smashing/lethal toggle different from the fire/cold/energy toggle? I get the Psionic and Negative Energy difference as holes, but it seems off that one is 12 and the other is 15 percent. I don't recall any other set doing that.

Unsuppressed stealth provides a great deal of protection in this game, even though it can't be quantified like defense.

With the numbers rounded, brutes get 26% Smashing/Lethal, 29% Fire/Cold, 32% Energy, 22% Negative Energy, and 6% Psionic/Toxic (via positional defense). They also get 12% resistance to L/S/NE, and 15% resistance to F/C/E/Toxic. Energy Drain restores 44.98 HP per target at level 50.
Compare with stalkers, who (with Hide suppressed) get 29% Smashing/Lethal/Fire/Cold, 33% Energy, 23% Negative Energy, and 3% Psionic/Toxic. They also have 12% Energy/Toxic resistance and 9% NE. Energy Drain restores 36.14 per target at level 50.
The defense numbers are pretty close, but the resistance makes brutes a lot more resilient, and they get more mileage out of Energy Drain.

I decided to make a claws/Energy Aura brute last night, and I have been playing him. For Both of the Defense Toggles they are less than the stalker's values. Instead of 16.5 defense for the primary defenses (Smashing/Lethal, Cold/Fire/Energy), they are 12.8 and 15 respectively. Is this a serious oversight or what? A Brute that gets less defense than a stalker seems ridiculous, especially with their fitting into the role of Tank in the general consensus of the game.
So what do you all have to say about this?
