Traps vs TA; Oil Slick?

I just spent a little time with both a Traps/AR and a TA/Archery Defender and I must say, after only playing each through the first 6 levels just so I could get their travel power (5+ year vet here), I'm liking traps better than TA. However, the one thing I wish is for Traps to have an Oil Slick that I can ignite with AR. I'm not about to roll a TA/AR Defender (redraw hell, no thanks) but it would be nice to be able to toss some oil and then light it on fire. Is that really too much to ask for? Am I the only one with this feeling?

I was thinking about making a Traps Fender soon, seems to be a nice set.

Can't say I would want Oil slick from the TA set tho,, thats like saying yeah I'm a blaster but damn I want ELUDE. You know?? Can't see us getting to pick and choose the powers we want from any set....

Only thing I would ask for would be that traps last longer... If you are a trapper you want to set them and be able to leave it until somone falls into the trap. If my trip mines explode before I finish setting up the area I'm not happy.

Extend the life of traps once they have already been placed.

It's not so much as I want to pick any power from any set, I just think that having something like that would have been very synergistic with AR.

But you can play AR/Trick Arrow Corrupters and TA/AR Defenders already (your point about it causing insanity through constant redraw is a good un though )

Try pestering BaBs to allow TA to use the Assult Rifle as alternatively animations instead, thus preventing the redraw and unifying the two together. He'll like that suggestion. Tell him it should be easy to do

Or you could just play an Archery/TA instead. They get a flamey arrow.

Im pretty sure if you either pick tech or magic as your origin then your origin power is either taser dart or apprentice charm both do energy damage and that can light your oil slick. I'm pretty sure

Yep, this is true. Plus it has a certain style when you're fighting Malta or something in the 40s and you use the wussy little power most people don't use after level 5 to toast an entire spawn.

I've looked at Assault Rifle a few times, but as soon as I get to Mids I loose all notion of it.
Never got one passed lvl 18 and that was a flash in the pan during AE farms, notion was lost before 1/4 of the map was done and toon deleted faster than you can say "What Defender?"

I've always wanted a double set toon... Why oh why can't I have a Traps/TrickArrow

(P.s - I know the no dmg thing is the answer but I was thinking for teams only)

Except for those times where OSA doesn't light for the entire mission.

Made me very sad the other day as I was in the mood for toasted crey. They aren't nearly as tasty raw.

I've played an AR/DEV to 50. Redraw has never bugged me, but I'm always the odd minority on things like this.

When I mentioned the redraw problem I was talking about having a Trick Arrow/Assault Rifle Defender. That would be redraw hell.

Oil Slick in Traps would be too good. It can already pretty easily softcap all its defenses, and has more tricks than you can shake a stick at (without setting something off)!

A Traps / X duo with a Trick Arrow / Archery Defender would be a nice slick of pie tho.

I rolled a TA/AR defender a few days ago, and am at lvl 32 right now. The redraw was a concern, but after playing this toon for a few days, the redraw is actually pretty dang quick.
Oil slick is kicking a$$! The AoE is huge...and I'm igniting it with just the Flamethrower for now....can't wait till lvl 35 so I can get my Ignite.
The debuff/attack combos are great, and I'm able to get off several powers very fast. My usual string is Flash Arrow, Glue Arrow, Oil Slick, Flamethrower...then pile on the -Res powers (Disruption Arrow, Acid, Arrow, Poison Gas Arrow).....OMG!!!!
Yes, that's a lot of powers to use in a fight, but that's what makes this toon fun!!! That's my 2 cents anyway... .

Oil slick's great, but why does Traps need that? It already has Trip Mine and Time Bomb. Properly utilised, the two together should allow you to pretty much toast an entire spawn.
