Longbow badge, flashback & new diff system?

Hi everybody,

so am back to farming for the Longbow badge (1000 defeats with 600 still needed) on my lvl 50 scrappie.

My thoughts were to use the Guassian arc, the Red and the Black, via Oroborus and with my diff set to -1 foes, with number of Heroes on higher than 4 and probably 8 and with no bosses or AV's. I will be solo of course.

To get to the right mission in the arc requires four other missions before getting the "Raid Data Center" mish with all it's lovely Longbow harvest.

I was getting what seemed to be the right level of spawns but the foe levels seem to be all wrong.

I was getting a lot of orange and red conned foes during the first four mishs and those Rangers hit hard! (Why no badge for their demise?)

And in the fourth I even had Lt Sofuloglu (?) as an EB albeit conned orange.

The latest patch notes refer to a fix to the new diff settings to make them ignore personal settings during TF's and trials.

As all flashback adventures come under the quasi TF rules does this mean they are now affected as well? if so, this seems to be a hit against using the "O" system.

Finally as the mish with Longbow is in the middle of a TF I am locked into this and unable to play any other game content, for a break, without dropping the TF and having to redo all earlier four mishs just to get to the Longbow again. And of course to reset the mission I have to quit the game and then relog in the toon again.

Am I missing something obvious or can you point me to a large number of low level Longbow elsewhere please? (Bloody Bay?).

Thanks Guys

That is correct.

Also correct.

The only other place a hero can fight Longbow is Siren's Call, and those Longbow are HERO aligned, meaning you need a "friendly" villain following you around confusing you so that you can attack them.

What you need to do is find someone (preferably lower level than you, so you can breeze through) who hasn't done that arc yet and do it the normal way, so that you can adjust the difficulty.

Hi Roderick,

thanks for your really helpful response It is jolly nice to get confirmation about things just to get the head sorted.

Anyway by way of an update to original post......

1. having logged off and on again the diff and spawns sizes now seem to have sorted themselves out and I am getting large spawns with virtually all foes conning blue with a coupkle of yellows and a few whites. This is no problem at all and in fact stops the thing being too boring.

2. I have completed two runs through the map clearing all before going through the log out/in nonsense and my foe tally of defeated has gone from 400 to 670! At this rate another 3 runs might just do the job.

3. I think I now understand the Dev's purpose behind the new diff settings as, boy oh boy am I having a blast

Am on my lvl 50 claws/sr scrappie and in mish am surrounded by huge spawns of Longbow all firing machine guns and flamethrowers and rocket grenades and am knee deep in spent cartridge shells and bodies and noise and action heheheheh.....

I just keep fighting and fighting and still they come, it is scrapper lock heaven and then just as things die down (literally as well as imaginary) in rush two more add on spawns, so it is a pop Elude job and just keep going.

It is a long time since I felt so Heroic ingame and then actually realised I was grinning like a daft thing and on a real high. Thank you Dev's

So as far as this badge goes, the farm method using Flashback is still an absolute choice.

Being able to farm 600 foes so quickly should also make it a great choice for other foes as well if needed and the speed does mitigate the logging out/in hassle.

Cheers

I am currently doing exactly the same thing with my fire/kin and have the settings at +0/8/no/no. Sefu was a yellow conned EB and other than that the worst I'm seeing is yellow conned LTs. Just a couple more runs and I'll be finished.

Heehee, I laughed when I read this line, since it's Longbow (good guys) you're fighting for that badge...

Actually, they have already explained their purpose. The -1 setting made it absurdly easy to get the 'Master of' task force badges. They have stated that this is a TEMPORARY solution until they can code some sort of exception handling for the 'Master' TF's.

I think he was talking about the new difficulty setting, not its exclusion from task force mode.

It's interesting to note that he mentions large blue spawns, which shouln't be possible in flaskback mode. Sounds like they slipped in a stealth fix that made it so only "real" task forces ignore difficulty.

Hi Guys,

right on the money Roderick. I was refering to the new diff system, not the latest patch fix.

At last us mainly soloing players can go and stress test our toons during "normal" play sessions and even though I was biffing "Hero Longbow guys" it sure felt good

Anyway, four and a half runs to get 600 foes was all it took and the vast majority of foes were blue conning!

So after the initial hiccup it seems as if the system is indeed working as planned. I will be very interested to see if others have the same experience by way of confirmation.

And as a "Reformed" character I now leave to hunt those pesky and definately villanous Toxic's and Mu Guardians

Cheers

Easy way to get Toxics and Mus: get 7 people to help you start an STF and farm the first missions. Of wait until your server has a mothership raid in the war zone and hunt in the zone there. More people in the zone will mean more bosses spawned.

Warburg posseses Toxic's too. Not sure they count, however.

They don't count, since their faction is "Rogue Arachnos" & not vanilla "Arachnos".

The Dr. Kahn TF has a lot too.

It could also be that the mission is back-loaded. The most extreme example of this is the Atta mission in the Hollows. People often wonder if there is a problem with the level setting since the initial enemies are blue and green (assuming default difficulty setting).
