Victorian/Steampunk SG/VG's
Those are some great insights.. I'd imagine after news of our arrive got out we would have help with piecing the ship back together and gain a few upgrades in the process. Since time-travel technology exists in Paragon already, they would be able to outfit our ship with some device(s) that would allow us to get everyone back where they need to be.
I was making a MA arc last night that has you retrieving a few pieces of the ship. It's not finished yet, but it'll get there. I took a few liberties with our story in the interest of saving time. For instance, the ship's mechanic is a young girl named Tourmaline. If you don't like anything feel free to speak up, nothing at this stage is really permanent.
I also made an enemy group that I plan to feature in most of my arcs for this SG. They're called "Steamwerks" which is an organization in Paragon that seeks out steam-age technology.
The toon I made is Captain Pharrell. He is a EA/EM tank and is supposed to be a captain of the ship. He is highly skilled with technologies and quite the inventor.
He will be sitting under atlas in less than a half hour for those who can make it. If for some reason I am not there, send a tell to my global (@Ninth Cloud).

I like the idea, and I am interested in joining. I have my own Steampunk inventor who has been sitting idle waiting for Going Rogue to show it's head. Her background is different, but it's easy enough to adapt. And she has to go from villain to hero side anyway, so I have to reroll her. Not that it is a large deal, since I think I got to level 4 or 5 with her.
Some small thoughts. I would suggest the 'Brass Lion Society' or something similar for a name. Victorian sensibilities often lead to grandiose sounding names.
As for thoughts of 'why don't they just rebuild using modern technology?' Well, the group originally comes from another dimension/timeline in which technology that existed in our dimension at the time works at a far greater efficiency than it ever did for us, rivaling modern technology in some cases. First a matter of pride would cause the refugees to seek out steampunk solutions to their problems, but eventually someone would try to use a modern turbine on a steam engine, or hook a laptop into the ship's Difference Engine. And supposing the laws of physics in each universe were slightly different. Close enough to exist side by side without problem, but when you try to interface them together, the differences resonate an amplify, causing the devices to fail spectacularly, perhaps even explosively.
SG Mate: Cien, what the hell is this Rookery thing?
RadDidIt: (interjecting) Dude. It's the Rookery.
SG Mate: Yeah, but what IS it?
RadDidIt: Silliness Incarnate.
I'll definitely join the Brass Lion Whatever It Is. Steampunk is always great. Wardenclyffe will join the group! Mmm, Tesla references.
EDIT: Wardenclyffe is already taken as a name, so I'll have to reconcept, but there will definitely be an International Steampunk Ninja.
Thanks for your continued support and interest! We need to get this off the ground.
Yesterday's turnout was pretty bad. *waves at Tir_McDohl*
But this is completely understandable as a lot of you expressed that you wouldn't be able to attend.
What I need to know is when people will be able to attend. It'd be nice to start by next weekend, either Saturday or Sunday, whichever one has the most people available. After the initial start, we can coordinate our regular SG meetings and so forth.

Saturday or Sunday evenings only -- after 7pm Eastern. I might be able to make Saturday afternoon, but the likelihood of that occurring is zero to none.
My weekend days are claimed by work or family
I have a Virtue Victorian heroine imbued (or encumbered, depending on one's perspective) with a pervasive affinity for electrical discharges. She hails from this reality, having been spirited from New York City in 1896 by a mysterious Mender, and then deposited in present-day Paragon City, where she is known as The Intrepid Mrs. Layton.
If your have regular gatherings, or individuals would like to contact and RP with here more spontaneously, I can be reached via global: @Rhianwen.
im all for this so whats the haps with it right now?
I'm afraid this particular SG never actually came together. We tried to have a meet-up in-game and there were exactly two people there. It just sort of fell apart and went unmentioned since October.
If there's interest in bringing this idea back, or even another like-themed SG that's taking on members, I've still got my existing character as well as a dual pistols defender I've been waiting for.
We (I posted in this thread with a not-quite-Victorian SG) are still around and have regular gatherings every other Thursday in the Midnighters' Club. If you want to see how your character might mesh in, you're welcome to try it out, or catch us at any other time via global or channel.
The above goes for other similarly themed types, as well.

well that sounds good i quite liked the story and what not sad you never got it going but i would love steampunk type of SG it would be quite cool
I also had wondered what happened with the group. I wanted to join in with a steampunk themed character myself. My main trouble though is finding time to meet up with anyone in my schedule.

So I want to get this ging again whos up for it?
so im looking on making a steampunk blaster but im not sure what powers to pick any ideas?
from a thematic viewpoint (assuming a tech origin for steampunkin'), electrical is spot-on. Fire, and a secondary of gadgets would work as well. Even ice would work, if you think of your steampunk tech offering refrigeration. Mind, psy, and dark not so much if you're going the tech route, though there's always room for fun explanations in the bio.
For blastery steampunkiness I had an AR/electric who used the frankenrifle colored to give gold/brass tones and a cross between engineer and pirate clothes for a skypirate.
And when the preorder opens I'm remaking one as DP/something (Currently sitting on the name Crimson Cannonade for him/her/it)
@SoylentPlaid
I haz 87 Clouded Points
With dual pistols out, and i17 with the new revolver models, I was thinking we should to try to get this going again.
Anyone still interested? Maybe instead of a full-sized SG, we could at least do a static team, if there isn't a lot of people that want to sign up anymore.
Unfortunately, I deleted the toon I made for this so I'll have to remake him.

I'd just thought I'd pipe in as some of my toons are in a Airship pirates SG. The Tortuga its semi active check out the VV page and if you dig it look up any of the members in game. The only draw back right now is some of the more once active players have vanished into the land of Alts but we still have enough on regularly to run groups.
I'm still up for this. Hell, I even made a character based on an npc from that AE arc from way back then who hit 50 the other day. That's in addition to the character I originally had for this idea.
Give me a time and place and I'll try to show up.

May have to cue up Abney Park on the stereo and hit the character creator later....
War Cat, EarthShade, BrightShard, Chakat Streak, Chakamil Silverspot, Mindora, Diabolesse, Jasper Baen
KGBSS8: Agent Ravage, Pestilence Girl, Umbral Claw, Howlback, Dr. Glit
Young Phalanx: Necril, Blazing Witch
Well according to the novels (may they rest in peace), Paragon City is some sort of natural leyline of fate where practically all things come together. It makes perfect sense for refugees of time and space to find their way there eventually. Why else would one city have so many aliens, gods, demons, angels, time travellers, geniuses, etc?
The real trick will be maintaining the steampunk tech level. Why wouldn't my automation get himself an upgrade or five from Positron while in this world? Maybe we don't fully trust this new concrete and glass jungle we've found ourselves in. Though we would probably accept limited assistance in rebuilding our fallen zep, we'd probably also insist on doing some sort of work for the city to ensure that there's no sense of our being indebted to this world. That'd be a good reason as to why we're out there patrolling with the rest of the pastel-colored spandex-wearing freaks.
The trick is to think of each problem as potential for story telling, really.
