I just lost a character slot.

I don't know why. I had a terrible concept for a claw brute, and decided to remake with a better idea. The moment I deleted, the online store went down and I lost the slot.

Seriously though, you should file a petition if you didn't get the character slot back, that's clearly a bug. Maybe also post about it in the Tech Support subforum, as that's a pretty big issue.

Let me ask for some clarification: did an actual slot go away, or was it one that said 'available to redeem' (or words to that effect). With the store down, I would think you might be unable to redeem vet slots.

What would happen if someone got the veteran bug and redeemed a veteran slot, then later the issue was corrected and they deleted a character? Would they lose access to the veteran slot they weren't supposed to get in the first place?

Not saying that's what happened here, but it reminded me that I wanted to ask.

Obvious question time again:

Was the deleted character on the second or third "page" of your character selection screen? Do you have unredeemed slots on your first page?

If so, the location where the slot was will show as "Unavailable," and your earliestavailable slot should now say "Create Character."

This threw me the first time I deleted a character after we got the ability to sort our characters. My heroes are on the first page, my villains on the second. I deleted a villain, and thought I "lost" a character slot somehow.

The store being down should only prevent us from buying or redeeming slots, and have NO affect on using one that was already claimed previously.

If you deleted a character, you should still have that empty spot avaiable to create another toon. It's important to note that the slot will also be on the same server that the deleted toon was on.

Like Lightfoot said, the avilable slot might not necessarily be at the end of your list, and is either exactly where the deleted toon was, or stuck onto a 2nd or 3rd page. If you still can't find it, try locating your playerslot.txt file and delete it. Then the slot should appear at the end of the list on that server. If it doesn't, then contact support to find out what happened to it.

Actually it does have an effect. When the store is down, any empty slots beyond the initial 12, become unavailable until the store comes back up. I've had this happen numerous times when we were testing it on Training Room. It should reappear when the store comes back, and if it doesn't then is the time to petition.

Short version: support mailed me back and solved the problem.
