Wife and I are getting in on this. We'll bring some darkness to the Asmodians, but she (and I guess me too) really wants to play some bright shiny angels. So is anybody doing some Champion reunions Elos side?
Just started playing this. I don't remember what server I tried, whichever didn't have a waiting line. I think I prefer Elyos.
I really like that there is no lag even on high graphics settings 
I think the majority in here rolled Asmodians on Israphel and Elyos on Ariel.
I am going off of memory, which more oft than naught tends to work against me.

Kahlan, you have to come with us on Israphel if you ever decide to try Asmodean 
( both "race" are exactly the same... only a handful of skills are different)

Does the NCSoft site allow the option to download the client? If so, how large is it?
And, how large are any and all of the subsequent patches?

yes you can download the client if you have an Aion account
the game client is ....10gb IIRC
patchs are around 80mb
10GB? Ouch. **** that. I will have to wait on the install discs, then.
Patches will take me a few hours or less, but a client that size would take two weeks.

No but seriously, the discs should be out soonish, ne? I mean it's officially open now and I saw both Bestbuy and Gamestop with preorders on it.

I haven't decided which server to play Elyos on, but I got a group over on Zikel Asmodean side. Seems like that's one of the most populated servers. Although the server queues aren't bad anymore during peak hours, the longest I had to wait lately was 20 minutes.

I'm guessing there is no such thing as trial accounts yet or friend codes to let friends try it? I'm not willing to dish out 50 bucks for a game I don't know anything about yet. And, patience has never been one of my better virtues

As of yet, no there aren't trial accounts that I'm aware of. Soon as there are though, we'll probably be offering them to people who are interested.
