Did I miss something?

Yeah I was looking forward to changing the mental powers on my Fortunata(Viridian Lynx) to green to match his colour scheme, but apparently that can't be done.

Is there a good reason for excluding those powers that's been mentioned by the devs?

Can't seem to recall any discussion on that. But maybe I wasn't paying attention.

VEATs and Kheldians cannot be currently customized. It may be that since they are so closely tied to the game universe they're not intended to be customized, however, I don't believe I've ever seen a post from a redname that explicitly states that.

Because of the issue that prevents Granite Armor from being customized in Stone Armor, Nova and Dwarf forms would not be customizable for the same reason. I consider this a likely reason why Kheldians as a whole cannot be customized. While the other powers in Stone Armor can be customized, it only makes it all the more obvious that Granite is an exception.

As for VEATs, the Wolf Spider machine gun, the Bane Spider mace, the Crab backpack and the Widow claws are all customizable. So their effects could NOT be customizable. (You get one or the other, both is impossible, so says Babs) Fortunatas are the only VEATs that have a non-weapon attack, and thus really they're the only ones who could be customized. (I suppose the Secondaries could be customized)

Personally, I'd allow it, but that's me.

They started with Primary and Secondary powersets available to all players. Biggest return for their effort.

They have intimated that, with the sets that are available to everyone out of the way, they will start on Power Pools and APPs / PPPs next, which may require modifications to the interface (do they let us select and take up memory customizing powersets we don't have yet, or do they "unlock" the customization for those Pools once we have access to them, etc.).

I would expect that EAT customization would come after Pool Powers (smallest return for the effort).

It will probably happen eventually, but they have bigger, more important fish to fry first.

Short answer: as already mentioned, Kheldians can't currently be customized. So, since HEATs can't be customized, VEATs can't be customized in fairness.

The opposite is true for APP/PPPs.

*can't = very difficult to figure out how to.

Thanks for the replies though. I simply assumed the Fortunata mental powers would be customizable. Ah well...

You are slightly incorrect. Widow claws are not customizable. Bane/Wolf Guns/Maces are (models and colors). Crab backpacks are color-able.

Some VEATs have attacks that could be customizable. Crab energy blasts, Bane energy blasts, bane poison blasts, perhaps even wolf venom grenade and fortunata attacks.

BackAlleyBrawler mentioned that they are on the to do list but down on said list. First they'll work on the power pools, then epic/patron pools then on VEAT/EATS (pending some decisions). Also BaBs mentioned something to the effect that to do just the power pools is 2.5x the work of doing the primary/secondaries that he just did.

BABs also mentioned that they haven't decided if they even WANT Epic ATs to have customizable powers. They are already highly specific in terms of backstory, plot and look, and I wouldn't hold it as a guarantee that that will change. Not saying it won't, but I don't see it as an eventual certainty.

As I remember that was said specifically in regard to spines. For weapon sets the weapon is considered a costume piece, so it is possible to color the effects separately. Spines differs from the weapon sets in that the body spines (which could be costume pieces) are customized with the projectile spines. The projectile spines and the poison spurts are what are not able to be customized at the same time.

I do wonder if it would be possible to color the spines with the primary color and the poison effects with the secondary at some point.

This is only the first round of power customisation. They're probably going to improve on it down the track.

IIRC, it was more like 2.5 times the work of a powerset; not of all powers done already.

For example, I expect more alternate animations. Eyebeams instead of beams from the hand, etc. The sets that got alternate animations were those that had little else to customize.
