Suggestion Re: Naming

I've got to admit that I'm very, very new at this game, but I'd like to suggest something about naming.

"Trollkin": okay, I can see that that might be a troll. Might not, too.

"Gravedigger": um... might be a skull, maybe?

"Blood Brother": ... that's a "Hellion" how?

My point is, the very newest players (myself included) are forced to either just kill villains at random and try to figure out which are which, or go to an outside source. Both take the player out of the game, out of the world, and out of the spirit of what CoH can be.

Would it be so hard to call them, say, "Hellion Blood Brother"?

Being forced to wiki it does not at all a satisfying, immersive world make.

Cheers.

Jim

The target window displays their faction under their name.

Interesting. Note that I hadn't noticed that yet. Could it be bigger, or something?

Also, is this the correct forum to make suggestions in?

One I would also proffer is to explain how to use the guards to pass between zones. It was a little counter-intuitive to click on the rail train car door. It was a LOT counter-intuitive to click on the GUARD to move to another zone...

Suggestion Forum

Clicking on the guards represents speaking to the guards and showing them your clearance

Well, this was explained in the manual I got with the game 5 years ago. I don't know how things are now with a new game purchase.

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

Doesn't the tutorial cover something like this? I would be very surprised if it didn't...

THIS.

Though I'm wondering if they will eventually get rid of them now that there are no level restrictions in i16.

Then it will be clicking on them represents talking to them and assuring them that you know what the heck you're doing going into a zone that's way too high for you
Otherwise it will represent giving them a donut or something :P

I dont think either tutorial covers mod group names.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

Thank you Devs & Community people for a great game.

So it'll say
Code:
Blood Brother
 <Hellions>
Also, the gangs wear characteristic colors. Red/black, with goat/pentagrams, is Hellions. White/black with skulls... is skulls.
And when you hit level 5, there's the Lost. They wear tires, TVs, wicker, and other oddities. Their names though are not very indicative of their group (Scrounger, Headman, Aberrant, etc).

The tutorial explains enemy conning; maybe at the same point in the tutorial a more explicit explanation of the various parts of the targeting cursor could be made available. Click on the Rikti practice drones and you get a heads-up display labelling each component (Name, Faction, Hit Points, etc.).

Clicking where the little blue Click Here hand appears doesn't seem counter intuitive to me.

Quoting the HELP menu in-game:

Target Window

Whenever a player left clicks on a villain or another hero, information appears in the Target Window.

A targeted villain's name will appear at the top of the window. Directly underneath is his Villain Group...

In the case of the hazard zone guards, it appears near their groins. Let's not go there.

That depends on your camera angle. Somehow, I manage to get the click on their shields.
