In terms of recordings, this one is probably pretty bad to watch because the comments were flying and I responded a lot to the chat. So the voice over is very rambling with random jumps to different topics because of things I was responding to in the chat.

In summary, there were two main points I was trying to get across:

1. Internal logic/plausibility. Despite the fact that you might be doing art of exagerrated genres (superhero, fantasy, etc.) any time you can tie your image into real world conditions and practice it will make the picture richer. In contrast to winging it, which often leads to a loss of credibility in the image.

2. Use of style in visual communication. Not so much style as cool factor or overal look, but as a mode of communication. Mixing different representational paradigms from various types of media (eg.comic book + advertising) in order to say something about a character. Or as a visual shorthand so that you don't need to slavishly render realistic details in the background when the focus may be one specific thing.

For the Livestream Thursday I was thinking of talking about a project I mentioned to Katfood. Essentially, designing a visual look for the distinct fighting styles of Feral Kat and Feral Kitty. The way I intend to go about this is by developing some representative sillhouettes of each's fighting style, without going into detailed drawings. I'll be basing this on my experience with Eskrima (Filipino stick and knife fighting) and other martial arts.

I could crash and burn horribly, lol we'll see. Same time as usual: Thursday 10:15 pm est
