I have made this suggestion before. It did not go over well. Apparently there's just too much of a positive psychological association with having progressively larger hp/damage numbers and being able to grossly overpower grey cons - even though it's purely artificial progress.

A more valid counterargument is that some of the lower level enemy groups just aren't enough of a theat to someone with a full array of slotted powers to be worth XP: Hellions and Skulls spring to mind. Then again, some of them are. At the very least, it would require evaluating enemies to bring their rewards in proportion to their actual threat value across the level range, which might result in an XP nerf to low level characters who are only capable of taking on the less threatening enemy groups. It's not simple. I think it's an idea worth exploring, but maybe not in this game at this time - you'd want to incorporate it into your design from the ground up.

Works for me.

This is the downfall of every "level" based RPG. It's very artificial but RPGs that have tried to enhance the player without giving him a massive amount of hit points etc has never historically done very well.

That's when it struck me that that next logical step after super-sidekicking, from an exemplar standpoint, is to eliminate the exemplar entirely and just let a higher-level player masquerade as a low level player if she wants to do that. It even makes some sense given how fast the low levels blow through now and Issue 16 looks to be speeding that up even further.

Sure, you get to level 50 but one day you have a hankering to go mano-a-mano with Doc Vahzilok because you leveled way past him before you even got the contacts for the mission. Why not be able to do that?

I realize this belongs in Suggestions, but I posted it here primarily to get a feel for whether this is really an ability that people would find interesting or if it's just my own little quirk that I might find it more interesting to fight a bunch of bone-daddies at their own level than spend an hour wiping out greys in order to get the badge for it.

If the game supplied a way for you to voluntarily "exemplar" yourself to a lower security level of your choice, with all of the attendant restrictions that normally accompany an exemplar, but that you'd otherwise be free to join or leave teams or receive missions from your past contacts in the exemplared level range, would you use it?
I think that's a good idea. On occasion, I'll use the flashback crystal to exemp myself back to a lower level, then do some street hunting because I like bashing that particular villain group. If it was a feature, I'd definitely be using it at points.

I do like the new super-sidekick system. I only read about it today for the first time, and I like the idea that the entire team is brought to the level of the mission. It sounds like it can save a lot of headaches.

YES PLEASE

#1 annoyance with the whole game is being locked out of content by leveling.

A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!

If I could go to a trainer and set my combat level to whatever I wanted below me I would. Specially if I would also appear on search engines as being that level. Sometimes a specific level range might be dead, so it would be good to 'con' to other players as a more convenient level.

I know the SSK system would allow me to get on a lower level team and get xp, but I believe recruiters will still be concerned with going too far from their level ranges when recruiting. I know that if I'm playing a level 30, I'd be weary of asking a random level 50 to my team, who might not like the idea of EXing down. But if that 50 scaled himself down and cons as a 30 on my search engine, it helps sending random tells to people who will mostly say no.

I'd use it for mayhems/safeguards, because right now they're the only content I feel that I absolutely have to do every 5 levels (mainly mayhems on redside for the explore badges for the accolade power, but also for certain mayhem/safeguard temp powers).

I know there's no mandatory content in CoH/V, but my duo partner and I treat mayhems/safeguards as mandatory content simply because they're a pain to try and get once you're L50, whereas most other accolade-required badges are easier to get at L50, whether via Ouro or whatever.

So yeah I'd like to see self-exemplaring - either that or mayhem/safeguard missions added to Ouroboros.
