You only need 385% recharge on Slash for that.....

doh!!!

That's it... gonna have to update my test to check out the screw up they did with my claws... :-)

It's different. But it deals more damage and therefore it's superior.

Good god. Wouldn't Follow Up need +313% Recharge for this?

Yup. I don't think I'll be pulling that out of the hat.

Probably going FU, Slash, Focus, Strike unless the sexy overrides my need for DPS and I use Swipe instead of Strike.

Assumptions:
You have enough recharge for the chain to repeat.
You have 95% enhancement damage
All scrapper crits at 10% chance except Eviscerate at 15%
Fury is 90% for 180% damage buff
You have 66% endurance reduction
No other buffs, enhancements, special IOs, nada. What you see above is all I used for simplicity's sake.

Followup, Slash, Focus, Strike
Scrapper: 162 DPS 2.8 EPS
Brute: 199 DPS 3.2 EPS

Slash, Focus, Strike
Scrapper: 120 DPS 2.3 EPS
Brute: 185 DPS 2.9 EPS

Eviscerate, Slash, Focus
Scrapper: 119 DPS 2.4 EPS
Brute: 177 DPS 2.9 EPS

And the winner with the "yea, good luck getting enough recharge for this chain" attack chain goes to:

Followup, Slash, Focus
Scrapper: 188 DPS 3.0
Brute: 213 DPS 3.5 EPS

Basically the same thing we knew before. Followup is better for the scrapper in the same way that all damage buffs are better for scrappers.

The same chains on a scrapper are better for a brute as well.

SIDE NOTE: I may have to stick with SR on the brute side as well. For no other reason but that I'm going to want Quickness' +20% recharge. But we'll see. Still hammering on the claws/ea build.
I'm saddened by this. No matter what, Scrapper do less DPS than Brutes. :/ By a pretty huge margin at that.

This. I'm all about making a crazy ridiculous single target killer with godly DPS, but you gotta look good doing it, and Strike is teh ugly. I'm FU/Swipe/Slash/Swipe/Focus all the way!

Getting excited...I knew 16 wasn't going live today, but still ran to the computer and checked as soon as I got home from work :P

If it weren't for the fact that I'd lose all the anniversary badges, I'd delete my main and rebuild him as a brute. Get him to 50 with all the buff accolades right before I-16 goes live, swap sides, reslot all the IOs that I strip out before deletion.

It'd take some work, but it could be done. Probably should be done.

I always feel a bit traitorous when I say this, but truth is truth:

Brutes > Scrappers > Tanks and that's just the way it is.

and that's the way the cookie crumbles....

I hope the alternate animations option is expanded on in the near future. I'd love to see a new eviscerate animation, and the new alternate animation for MA's Cobra Strike would be PERFECT for Claw's Strike. It's .5 seconds to long, but it has a pause in the animation that could be removed. Also, Storm Kick's alternate "gut punch" animation has a .83 cast time just like FU, but it looks way faster and would be a great alternate for FU and/or Swipe.

Thruth be told, I think they should make it so you can choose from mutliple animations for every power. If you have a 1.17 attack, you'd be able to choose from every 1.17 second animation in the game. This would be great fun.

There's always hope that the devs will find a way to make anniversary account-wide, which is something I think they've discussed. Also, I think you meant Going Rogue instead of I16.

Yes, I meant GR. If they were to make anniversary badges account wide...

Yes, Bill would have to get busy recreating his body. Hell, I was happy doing it on my brute just for the fresh batch of vetspecs.

The fact that my Fire/Fire Tanker is the only toon I still have with the 1 year anniversary badge, is the only reason it hasn't been deleted and sits at lvl 38-40.

If they made it account wide, and all my toons suddenly got them, I'd be estatic for many reason, one being, that Id free up a slot

I'm with you here.
But I'll probably shorten that up to FU->Slash->Focus->Swipe. My current chain for my Claws/SR, just gotta try to figure out how to fit that in on Energy.

Silly question. Does recharge time start after the cast time has ended, or as soon as the attack is activated? I've always assumed recharge time starts after the cast time is done....but I'm not 100% sure.

Anyone?

after

otherwise BillZ would be spaming Eviscerate... ;-)

Yeah, that's what I figured. How the heck can you get FU to recharge in less than 3.33 seconds to do FU/Slash/Focus/Swipe?

Going off the top of my head...
Gotta factor in arcanatime

Slash - 1.584
Focus - 1.32
Swipe - 1.056

FU needs to recharge in 3.96

And that's only 203% total recharge in Followup. 184% if you use Strike (1.32 as well) instead of Swipe.
And FU, Slash, Focus, Strike does better DPS.

The price, as we see, for being sexy is high.

I suddenly understand why Arcana time is important. I'll stick with Swipe for now, but as I mentioned before, if Claws get alternate animations in the future...I'd definetly go with Strike. Of course if Claws got alternate animations, I'd probably want Eviscerate and have to rethink by entire build.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is arcana time?

Nothing to forgive. In a nutshell, Arcanaville figured out that the cast times we see on power info aren't quite accurate due to the way things happen on the server.

To get the "real" cast time of a power you plug it into the following equation:

=(ROUNDUP(CAST/0.132)+1)*0.132

So if you look at, say, claws slash, the given cast time is 1.33

(1.33/.132)+1 = 11.0757575
Round that up and it becomes 12
12*.132 = 1.584

So Claws Slash "real" cast time is 1.584 seconds rather than the set 1.33 seconds.

By adjusting our attack chain times we see that the damage per second values we get when doing things like soloing pylons are closer to what we figure out on paper.

Has anyone actually tested to verify that formula? From some of the fraps work I've done and then loaded into video editing software it appears to be a rough approximation of cast time rather than accurate, but admittedly the video software I'm using could be the weak link, but it does move in 0.01 second increments. Or even fraps.

I think there is no arguing that cast times are actually longer than stated by the game so I guess it is as good or better than anything to go by. At worst it removes a large percentage of paper inaccuracy, at best it is great. meh carry on.

Arcana said she worked on it for about a year, so I'm pretty confident it's accurate.
