Energy Armor.....the one armor for tank/brute that I deleted and never looked back on. If you can make this armor work please post your build, as I would like to have hope for EA again.

Kind of like a toon I saw the other day named Wolverines Father...... no I didn't rat him out, as I'm sure others already have, but I bet the next time I see him he's Generic 051127

It's nice to have a homage to a classic character but man people need to learn there is a thin line between homage and trademark issue....

WP for the QR+STAMINA

SR for something new for me

INV....well it's a nice set but that darn psi hole.....

Here's my very first pass at a claws/ea build. Even looking at it now, there's a lot I can do to clean it up further.

Points of importance:
Overload up more than 50% of the time.
And without OL:
41.5 def to s/l
44.5 def to f/c
46.2 def to e
36.1 def to n
19.6 def to p

29.2 damres to s/l

1740 HP with 25.1 HP/sec regen

This is without any purple sets or accolades. When I tweak it further, I'll post again.

As for Invulnerability's psi-hole... it can be heavily mitigated with IOs.

Yeah, I was looking at /EA as well, still can't make up my bloody mind as to what to pair with claws.

My only problems with /SR are the lack of a self heal and a clicky Mez protection. /WP I already have. Already have an /ElA brute as well.

Now, on the plus side, /SR does have the bonus to movement speed and recharge.

Ugh.

Anyway, BillZ, seeing as I seemed to have misplaced my Claws/EA build, I took yours and adjusted it to more of my own style of play. I hate the godmode/crash powers. Also dropped Conserve power as Energy drain will serve well enough on it's own, cus it recharges in 17.6 seconds. Got rid of hasten, don't really need it, and the end crash is annoying. Put in Maneuvers and Assault for a boost to damage and to softcap all but NE def.

I don't know if that's true, Iggy. EA has one thing that SR doesn't that I plan to lean on heavily after 38. Overload gives a massive HP buff. Crash hits, pop a blue, pop CP, no problem. SR can't touch that level of HP.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that being at/over the softcap all the time is ideal. And I'm well known for hating tier9s with crashes. But I intend to utilize EA in a way I never could with SR.

Be well, people of CoH.

Even all IO'd out with a dream build and Overlord up, still has only 20% defense to Psionic attacks and no resistance to Psionic attacks. Other than that it looks pretty tight. Got the heal down to 23 seconds and with 10 enemies in range it heals for 64%. I just don't know if I personally would put the time and effort into it knowing I'd still have that Psi hole. Can anyone verify that Overlord doesn't boost Psi defense as well? It could just be a bug in the unoffical Mids I'm using.

Just for gits and shiggles, check out this build. With the Energize power I might actually make a Claws/Elec instead of WP.

Vanguard Psi Shield and Elusive Mind accolade are what all the cool /EA kids have in that dusty corner of the tray.

Hadn't thought of that. Makes alot of sense though. I mean it's not like you need great protection against Psi all the time, and usually you will know it's coming before hand. Hmmmm.....

Doesn't EA still have significant holes vs /SR that make it an issue? Toxic damage hole, no or less def debuff resistance, etc.?

I had an SS/EA brute a while ago and he just got owned a ton.

Aye, there are holes that SR lacks. But Bill Z will be the only Claws/SR I will ever play. Claws/WP is out because I have too many WP users. Claws/Inv I already have in a scrapper. /FA and /DA are out because of their KB holes. (If pylon can knock me back, the set it dead to me.) I did claws/elec on test and found it lacking. /SA is out because it's completely anti-speed and thus anti-me.

Be well, people of CoH.

think i have myself narrowed down to either /EA, which is looking kinda sexy now that I have looked at it again, /elec, which is a lot nicer to play now, and /WP, which, is just nuts now that I am looking at it again.

Dark Armor is like that kid you knew in school that didn't know when to shut up, and no matter how bad he got beaten down, he got right back up again and kept on talking.

Well BillZ...
Here's my Claws/Inv build.
Went a little cheaper than I would usually go for (no purples), and went with survivavility instead of damage.

I think I've finally settled on Claws/SR. Maybe... Probably. I don't have an SR toon yet, so it's about time.

/SR and /Shields have basically spoiled me from playing other toons. They're about the only toons I can run through ITF without feeling like paper.

I want to like Electric Armor, I really do -- but the feedback I'm hearing on Energize is that it doesn't overcome the set's issues.

I have a few /WP toons and even softcapped a few to E/N (close on F/C) but it is very hard redside to get the right IOs (and very costly) to softcap S/L ... and even then, you have no def-debuff resist to speak of.

So I that means I will make a Claws/SR Brute. Maybe I'll strip my WM/SR to do it.

I wouldn't let the lack of defense debuff resistance sway you from /WP.

At least, on my tanker, not at softcap level defenses yet, but having capped HP, tough/weave, +3% Defense IO, and regenning 100-106 HP a second with just one target in range, never died on the ITF.

I figure Brute can do that, and do better with fury there to help kill faster.

This is what I'm going for Claws/EA.

Always wanted to try EA.

Talasorian Claws with EA seems like it would look great together

And I figure, when they port /EA blue side, Conserve Power is likely to get changed.

You're a bit behind on the times. They already are porting it blueside. With I:16. And they are changing EA to get energize. Haven't you been reading!
