I know I'm a Brute...

But I feel more like a Blaster...

I was on a team earlier and I just kept faceplanting every. single. pull. I feel like I could've gone back over to blueside and made a scrapper that could take more punishment than my brute. And the part that really gets me down is looking ahead in my build once I've got SOs I'm only going to have 50% S/L resistance.

I know I'm not a tanker but all the teams I've been on have treated me as such, looking at me to be the first to run in and take the brunt of the damage (and even then I either die to the alpha or die immediately afterwards). I feel like I'm working off more debt than I am actually gaining XP.

I love my brute's concept/costume and I can't really picture him being anything other than a brute, but actually playing him feels more like torture....

I can make about a million or two a day on the BM. Currently I'm lvl 13 w/ 2.2 mil and this is my only character on villains side.

Brutes are disconcertingly squishy at low levels, and it does get frustrating since by the time you've built up some decent fury you're almost dead. I put as many slots, if not more, into my secondary as my primary early on with my SS/Inv.

In a real villain team it should be a race to see who can hit the next spawn first. This cowering behind the 'tank' business is for heroes

Ahh, well since I usually play nothing but heroes I didn't find the behavior odd

Anyway, I'm somewhat tempted to remake my brute as a scrapper simply because villains side has been annoying me a little because it's kind of hard to find a team at times and I'll be damned if I'm going to solo at this level >_<

There's your problem. Most brutes suck at the low levels. Give it a bit, things will get better.

Electric Armor has a bad rap, and it is a fragile one, but when i16 goes live and you get the self-heal, things will get much better.

Also, when you get some sets, stacking some Defense with the resist will go a long way.

EDIT: Oh, and those teams that expect you to tank on an electric brute? They're dumb. Stone, Invuln, Willpower - those brutes are for tanking. Elec is there to dish out damage.

Brutes are brutes, not tanks. Doesn't matter what the set. Back in the day, I used to run with people that played Villains like they are supposed to be played. None of this wait for the tank to run in and grab aggro crap. The whole group runs in and lays waste.

Unfortunately, too many people try to play villains like heroes. I had the opposite problem, I played heroes like they were villains, then CoV came out. Brutes really do better in a team, especially if that team plays with the reckless abandon they should being villains. Seriously, i was on my Dom earlier and was usually the first one into the next group, not because I am hasty, but because we were sitting on our thumbs waiting on the brute if someone didn't jump in first.

Right now, elec/elec is kinda painful. I have one, it is 50, it is kinda fun, but i gotta keep a tray full of greens. I tried Energize on test, and it will definitely make things nicer. Also, as was said before, get defense bonuses from IOs when you can. Will make life easier.

One other thing I noticed is unless I'm running Brawl on auto my fury generation is pitiful, usually less than 25% of the full bar, but with brawl all of a sudden I can get 50%+ pretty easily. I don't see how that one attack makes that much of a difference.

The thing is though I don't like running Brawl on auto fire because the end cost does add up especially on top of everything else and it's really bad in the lower levels, plus it's really annoying when I'm trying to line up like a Jacobs Ladder or something, but my guy stops while I'm trying to position myself to use brawl...

/elec not good for agro bruting sorry more of a back up brute build, not fair of your team mates to use you in that manner /elec is a fun build but definately not a damage taker can be nice once setted out for pvp.

I don't have a l337 build for you wish I did I have a lvl 50 mace/elec but I am happy with her being a cousin to thor.

I wish you well most brutes are awesome fun my 2 stoneys can tank just about anything, I can tank on my energy/energy and my ba/shield, I have a ss/inv that I have friends that can tank well on I can never get a build to work. I have an elec/wp thats pretty nice but again as support not point and my ss/sr and ss/energy would be nice if they did not completely suck end... my db dark... well she looks great

some thoughts would be to pick up tough and weave or the conceal pool and slot 4 each one for 4 gift of the ancients and the other for 4 impervious skin I believe thats it the one with the 7.5% resist proc.

alternatively you can pick up leadership as well assault only needs 2 end redux slotted tactics is always good but if you can swing it maneuvers can be 4 slotted as well for some more resist

good luck

Well, unfortunately, that is the way it is going to be till you get a little more solid. Fast attacks will build fury for you well, and elec melee is not a particularly fast set. When you get a little higher, and can take a bit more punishment, it will be a lot easier. One thing that is REALLY nice about elec/elec, if you have aid self, or carry some greens, your downtime is minimal, so you can keep that fury bar loaded. If they keep it how it is on test, brawl will no longer cost end when issue 16 goes live.

If you want to build def on an elec/elec, you need tough+weave, cj, and about 5 kinetic combat sets(4 of the 5 for the s/l def). Look to cap S/L defense, is easier to cap than positional.

This is the build I have set up for mine, if I ever take the time to IO him

You build fury via incoming attacks (which don't have to hit) and your attacks. Your attacks build Fury much more, on a per attack basis, than incoming attacks. Thus quick attacks like Brawl are ideal for building Fury.

You're going to love i16 when it goes live. Brawl has been changed to have no End cost at all.

Your brute will be squishy for quite some time without good corruptor/MM buffs. This is due to the late-blooming nature of your primary, coupled with a secondary that boasts excellent endurance management to boost the primary.

Once you hit the 30s, you'll be relying on lightning rod for your alpha. By teleporting in and knocking everyone down, you can reduce the massive alpha strike that decimates elec/elec/mu brutes often. Until then, it's going to be painful.

Until then, get on a team that has things that buff you.

I generally don't try to read builds in the forums, and load them locally in Mid's. My brain just doesn't work that way.

But, for the ease of others, and I think i tweaked it a bit since I posted it, here it is again.

Deth,

I'm pretty sure you're giving end to your enemies with the performance shifter proc in L. Field.

Also, the FF: chance for recharge in L.Rod doesn't work, it gives recharge to the pseudopet so it does nothing for you.

*shrug* if that's the case then take em out. I honestly forgot about the psuedopet thing. Switch the performance shifters to efficacy adapters.

I put these things together in like 5-10 minutes, then monkey with 'em when I get around to it. Granted, I have put a bit more into this one trying to wring a bit more out of it. Sometimes, like all people, I forget about a quirk with a particular IO.

Wait till the changes in I16 come for elec armor. Youll enjoy leveling more with a heal/regen power in the set. You might consider a set with better mitigation for your elec. Something like stone melee or super strength. Provided you havent leveled to far.
