My art talent is drawing doodles while in math class
[edit] almost forgot to say it looks good
Thanks...
I wondering if I should try to ink and color it with my paint program. |
That shot makes me think of like a bullseye cam that follows the arrow as it thuds into the target, nice!
You should totally try and ink it and if you like the result color it too.
You get better by doing.

With all the gift art going on lately (BW, Pirate Cashoo, The Foo, etc) I'm even inspired to dust off the parker and
sharpies and see what I can come up with...
I am not going to critique you, but I will say for you not to stop there and to move onto the next step. I am sure that a few of the digital pros can be of help to you. Don't give up on it, Scootz!

May I suggest an extension? (forgive me if I presume to much)
(All from the same POV as you are using)
Multi-panel:
A target creature, sighted by the archer
Archer lines up on the creature, creature looks to have realized it's been sighted
Creature moves toward archer, arrow has now left the bow, camera moving WITH the arrow.
Creature is now charging the archer, arrow is getting close.. creature may look concerned at this point
Creature's face changes to fear, face now fills frame
Arrow has struck, well, you can be as graphic here as suits you...

Not like I have a heck of a lot of art skill, but a tip that I got when working with scanned drawings in set a new layer on top and ink that layer, so you get the clean ink but still have the sketch for reference for shading/coloring/etc
It's the shading that adds depth to your sketch, so that's what's missing, shading. Well, the punched up target does add to it...
All you need now is a good colouring tutorial.... (preferably of Paint.NET so I can use it too >.> what?)

I like it! I say color it. No time like the present to work on those skills!
I was bored at work and colored it in PhotoShop. But I don't want to insult you with my horrible skills. LOL |

It does loose most of it's perspective, but it's not quite flat thanks to the already great angling of the arrow.

Well there's no way in *&#$ I'm sending you my crappy colors NOW. LOL That is great.
Honestly I just got the flats done. I am just not good at highlights and shading. But I seem to really like the cartoony feel I've been giving things.
More than anything my son has been drawing up a storm and so to encourage him I thought I'd learn how to color. He's better at drawing than I am at coloring by far!
Anyway good job and keep it going.

Hey Scootz, that is looking pretty darn good!

one tip when it comes to color. Keep your Highlights warmer and your shadows colder. Instead of just lighter and darker. and the time old practice practice practice
I've been bouncing an archery character around in my head for some time now, and all of a sudden was inspired to draw something.
I thought I'd share. thumb nail is clickable.
