Least Used Defender Powerset?

Simple question, just wanting to know what is used the least.
Lots of EMP ones out there.

The sonic primary is the one that I see least often followed by cold as a close second.

While I've seen two Sonic/* defenders, I've never seen another Trick Arrow defender. What's that count for?

I seem to recall a list being made at some point showing the percentage played. Not sure where. Its easy to see the least used in general. Sonic, FF and Trick Arrow would be my guesses on that.

I'd say that Sonic is the one I see the least of. Probably followed by FF then TA. TA isn't popular but I see a lot more of them than I do Sonics.

[WAG]It might be partly a matter of Server, I play on Virtue and from what I've seen I think TA is somewhat popular with the RP crowd so it may be more common there.[/WAG]

I tend to see more FF than sonics, TA or colds out there.
Storm is not used a bunch either, but I see some.
Emp is the one I see the most on defs followed by rad I'd say.
Kin is huge on trollers, but I don't see that many defs with it.
Dark is not much used either.

But I'd say sonic / cold / ta, not sure which, for the least used.
Then storm / dark / kin. Then rad. Then emp is easily the most used on defs for me.

I don't know what powerset is the most seldom taken on new characters, but the least USED set would be any of the ally-only buff sets like FF, Sonic, Thermal, and Cold. I'm lucky to get buffed at the start of the mission these days; sometimes it's the last time I see that icon all night. People TAKE these sets, but they hardly USE them.

This seems a little unclear. Your saying that of the times you have run into one of the ally only buff sets you regularly had the experience of them not using the primary powers of those sets?(e.g. Force Field deflection/insulation shield)

I'm saying that many of the players who take these sets either flat-out don't take the ally powers (the ones that "do the user no good") or, if they do take them, don't use them on their teammates. Hence "least used" powersets.

I remeber a few months ago teaming with a Sonic Resonator that was excited about hitting 32 because Liquefy was the only tier 9 he never saw a player use. Considering that and how I can't think of any with a Sonic Resonator as a frequently played alt, I'm voting for Sonic as the least used.

Purely anecdotal but FWIW I'd guess sonic too. There's something just... lacking in the set that makes it an uncommon choice to start with, take heavy attrition going up through the levels and then get thrown on a shelf to be forgotten at 50.

Well if it were a vote for the least USEFUL, then it would be Sonic Resonance for me.
I would play FF every day before Sonic, and twice on Sunday (cept during football season).

But as far as least Used, uhm, hard to say on my server, I see very few defenders at all. Mostly Controllers, Blasters and Scrappers.

I do remember someone posting a server study some time ago and sets like TA, Cold and Sonic were lower, but they are also much newer powersets for Defenders.
I would guess that has not changed much since then.

I have a sonic fender, dunno why people don't use them as much...

But least used would have to be Trick Arrow, any other TA that you see are
usually trollers looking for more control.

I know in my heart that one i16 Hits you will most definitely see more Cold/ and Sonic/ fenders the color customization option makes the shields almost undetectable.

Sonic is totally useful, Liquefy is enough to make most mobs never hit (from what I've seen, my sonic def is pvp spec so don't have it atm), Disruption Field is an AWESOME way to increase damage output in a team, slap it on a point man, and everyone does more damage AND it stacks with Fulcrum Shift and is a lot less fiddly than powers like tar patch; fire & forget ftw. And I don't think anyone would turn down 31% (54% in the bubble) res to all except psi lightly. FF might be better in terms of keeping the team alive, but for overall support I'd say it was a close call, if anyone Sonic having the edge, with its -res powers, and the fastest activating CM style power in the game. As a sole buffer it may seem lax without heals or end boosts, but pair it with an empath, or a kin or a thermal, and I'd far rather have that duo of buffers than emp/ff kin/ff or therm/ff, the missions will go way faster.

Remember kids: Sonic FTW

Sonic is useful, it just doesn't stand out from the crowd very much. Like FF, it's one-dimensional when it comes to buffs but the buffs don't provide the overwhelming survivability of bubbles. On the debuff side, it doesn't provide the versatility and control of a set like TA. Minor tweaks would help it a lot, an improvement to siphon and liquefy with a shorter recharge would go a long way.

Really? I cannot recall ever seeing a TA Controller but have seen quite a few TA defenders.

Reducing the recharge on Liquify without a corresponding reduction in the effectiveness doesn't seem likely to me. It really is something of an enemy nullifying power. Being able to pull it out even a majority of the time probably would be too much of a good thing.

There are lots of /TA controllers around. /TA is the go to secondary for any controller that wants LOTS of control.

Yep. Mind/TA is going to be super strong.

Oddly, I have two TA/Arch Defenders (on different servers) and a Storm/Ice Defender and although I usually play Controllers, I have no /TA controllers.

I have teamed with /TA Controllers and it DOES leverage up the controls, so I see the attraction, but I have never done it. But I did take a /FF Controller to 50. I still take him out and play him, and I have the various shields bound into my numberpad for easy buffing. I have not, however, had any impulse to play most Defenders such as Emp, Rad, FF or Kin.

It is surely true that what appeals to folks differs a lot!

Sonic Resonance is the least used Primary, I'd say. I've only ever seen a handful besides my own in a few years. At least half my in-game friends own a Trick Arrows Defender (but it may be more because of the stylishness associated with the bow sets), but I think only 2 or 3 own a Sonic Resonance user that isn't a Controller.

I would say Cold Domination is the next least used, and that's probably a combination of it being the newest set and that some people don't like the look of the shields (but for purely aesthetic reasons, not like the old Sonic shields).

I'm sure sonix will fly up the pop charts once pink shields and dispersions become a reality.
