AOW 16 Million AE Challenge

To test villian teams against hero teams we will be running this little event this sat. (Aug. 29th) at 7pm est. The grand prize is 16 million and is to be split between the winning members. There will be prizes for the top 10 teams. Teams will meet in RWZ AE Building by 6:30 pm est on aug. 13th at the latest, we want to organize and be ready on time for 7.

Teams must be from the same VG or SG or divisions of the VG or SG. Such as DarkGuard and DarkGuard:Apocalypse may combine members on the same team. Since this is short notice the mission will be shorter than the test mission (ID 309894), possibly 1-3 AV's instead of 6. We will try to balance it so it runs about an hour.

Team will consist of 1-8 players. Set on Heroic. use of ALL avaialble resources for this event, we don't want to hold you back, we want you to make use of everything you have learned about CoH and CoV.

If the event proves to be a lot of fun, then villians may be entered in the 8 Billion Event in Dec.

Addendum: The event was posted when the OP was very tired. The Prize offered is extremely lame so........we have quadrupled it to 64 Million Grand Prize!

Further Update: Event will consist of 1 Map, 1 Mission, 1 Ally, 4 AV's, Defeat All. Approximate running time 20-60 minutes.

If you cant solo an AV, then i recommend strongly you learn to get along with ppl and invite a few friends into your sg for this event OR take one alt and join a large sg.

So this is a test run for a test run?

Why not just pony up the money for one run, plan it in a few weeks, and go from there instead of having 3 different events?

Straykitten, we need test runs to work out some bugs. need a test run to determine if vills are able to win significantly faster than heroes for example....plus, this is for our sg anniversary so it would make sense to do it on the anniversary

Fair enough I suppose, but you should be careful because, if you run an event into the ground then people will be less likely to participate in the later ones.

As an aside, if you open it to both heroes and villains (and presumably mixed teams) then it shouldn't matter if one could run it faster than the others since its that team's prerogative as to which they decided to bring, right?

You will need to ask felecia about the mixed teams...I know she wants everyone in the same SG so that may not work out but i suppose you could if you had divisions of the same group red/blueside....I do know however that the event will not be run into the ground. As far as my knowledge goes, we will have different missions for each event....Also, im pretty sure plenty of people will show up to possibly win 100million each or 1billion each

yeah with the prize for the big event id be suprised if people dont show up. although im not sure we can get organized by this weekend. mostly adults in my crew and some of us work crazy shifts. but ill do what i can to get us fielding some kind of team by this weekend. so you can get a test in place.

Please decide on an event and run it, for criminey's sake. If you want to test run it, run it with your own SG. Don't you have more than two members?

Whitehotflash, maybe you cannot comprehend this....we are having 3 events, got it? one is a test run to check if vills and heroes complete the mission at the same pace. the next event is a smaller version of the grand prize because the grand prize event is so far off. Last is the grand prize event for up to 1billion per person

Some people want to use villians in the main event which we are not sure is a good idea. I see no reason why we cannot hold multiple events. The idea is to have fun and bring people together. I realize most of you are loners and want to stay that way. No problem, either don't join the event or join as a team of one.

I see people still don't see the point: We are hosting multiple events, something AOW has ALWAYS done(AE is just another toy for us to use and play with). We are giving people another excuse to come out and have fun!

No, what I see is that you started a thread for a "pat us on the back, aren't we nice" event for THREE MONTHS down the road. Then, due to some poor communication skills by yourself, you've had to amend, and amend, and amend the event, and start two more threads about basically the same thing.


If you want people to test it, you could have probably just asked a couple of SGs to do it for free.

If you don't like it, you don't have to participate. Don't complain about us giving away large sums of influence.....To any that still do not understand, we need to run a test to see if heroes and villains are equally matched. That is where the 16mil, now 64mil, comes in. It is a minor test run. Then, since this event is posted a tad too early, we are having a smaller event in october. Lastly, we have our grand prize event in december to celebrate the 2 year anniversary......WHF if you don't like how we are doing it, maybe you want to pitch in 8billion? I am sure we will take your opinions more seriously if you do something other than sit there and criticize how we do things.....(strikingly similar to Lord Stryker)

So are villains allowed for all 3 events? I don't see how having villains/mixed teams would give an advantage or disadvantage.

There is a possibility that villains may have an advantage over heores, vice versa. So we are testing to see if an all villain team does significantly better than all hero team and if it is because red/blueside has an advantage

My point once again is that, if either side does have an advantage, what does this change really? I mean, if you allow both, its the team's prerogative to decide if they want to bring heroes or villains so ultimately the variance in the outcome would be due to their decision.

This would be sort like "We feel like teams with defenders may have an advantage over the other teams, so we need a test run to see if they really do to decide if we want to allow them or not." At least in my opinion.

Thanks to Cherry-2000 and her Task Force Tuesdays i have had a chance to see a combination of heroes and villians work together in a speed ITF. The results showed the teams were all balanced and worked really well together. My team had 2 Brutes, 2 Stalkers, 2 Masterminds, 1 Controller, 1 Defender (me). We rocked the ITF beating the mainly hero team with a warshade on it by 1 minute. The hero team was on invince and had to deal with one more crystal which could have made thier time better so congratz to all the people who came out to the event. All of you were fantastic.

Now that i have a better understanding of what to expect we will now allow Villians in all 3 events. This weekends event will be paid to hero counterparts in influence. The next 2 events we will work on getting enough infamy to payout the villians should they win.

I am still adamant that the teams be made up of members from the same SG/VG. But to make it more interesting we will allow VG and SG to combine on the condition that the VG and SG are directly related with the same leaders and mostly the same members. I know DarkGuard has a VG affiliate as does AOW. If the sg leader lets me know of thier vg affiliate i will record this so you can't switch in another vg in the future (I do keep records).

This weekend will be an event to see how much fun we can have with this ae system, plz come out and enjoy yourselves. Getting together with friends in a competition for fun and cash should be a good thing.

I still don't see how villains would make an advantage or disadvantage. A well built hero team should be able to compete as fast as a well built villain team. With that said, I'm glad villains are allowed and I wouldn't mind taking influence for the prize if there's a problem getting the infamy.

But that's true for every team regardless if it's heroes, villains or both. Not trying to argue with you, just saying.

There are reasons for why we are doing things the way we are and we could debate about it forever, but let's not!
