Fiery....villains have ATs heroes dont have access to, heroes have ATs villains dont have access to.. I really dont know how else to explain it, red and blue side are just different so we are testing to see how different

To answer Fiery's question: I was concerned because Masterminds have more pets, Stalkers have hide and alphastrikes that are devastating, and Brutes seem tougher than tanks. I noticed this in PvP Zones.
Fiery and Kitten make a good argument. In the end it is a matter of how well the charcater is put together and how well the player knows how to use that hero/villian.

NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS!:

The event is tonight and i have heard all the great sg's are forming teams and i do hope they all show up. United Heroes Brigade, Protectors of Neverland, Templars of Steel, DarkGuard, Hammers of Justice, Order of the Champions, Guardian Wolf Pack, a VG which hasn't named itself yet, and 2 teams from ALL-OUT-WAR.

With so many teams showing up if the zone is full we will have half the teams set up in Peregrine Island AE Building and the other half in the RWZ Building.

EXTREMELY GOOD NEWS!: With so many teams i have asked about increasing the amount and it has been decided:

Grand Prize: 80 MILLION
2nd Place: 40 MILLION
3rd Place: 20 MILLION
4th Place: 10 MILLION
5th-10th Place: 5 MILLION each

Event will be 1 Map, Custom Critters, 16 AV's. This should make the event between 1-2 hours long.

Well, looks like small sg's get the sh*t end of this event..

blah.

No, this isnt a reason for me to open up my sg to any tom, dick, or harry and no its not right of me to ask people from other smaller sg's to jump ship to join us for this event (both of those were posed to me as questions). Fang, In particular, has a lot invested in HIS sg and for him to drop and join us would mean him losing all the prestige he's earned over the 4 or so years hes been playing. To some, it's not "just a #".. I know its not to any of us. So for that reason, he's excluded.. Spartas Finest, another example of a sg that cant participate.. and they have some kicka** players.

I withdrew from my own event this past Tuesday, just to not EXCLUDE anyone from participating. (Netminder withdrew as well, we were over by 2 people)

ok.. off my soap box.

gl with the event.

Every event cannot be geared for everybody. There is always going to be someone who can't participate, someone who doesn't qualify, someone not available at that time, someone who's SG isn't big enough or someone who doesn't like playing nice in the sandbox with someone else that plans on being there.

I can't speak for anyone else but I can say on my own behalf as someone who trys to run community events as much as I can that it is very tiring to see the griping on every single event thread by someone about something. Especially when its other event coordinators doing the griping. This isnt directed specifically towards you either Cherry, the shoe fits many feet.

Well..to be honest, this is the 1st event in the year that ive been here that at 1st, wasnt able to join due to the size of my sg... and my initial reaction here was directly after a rather antagonistic coversation with 1 of their members.. and as it turns out i dont think any team consisted only of a specific sg.. Im not 100% certain.

I dont take offense to your post personally.... im well aware of the complaints of others.. i get them too regarding mine.. I try to accomodate as many as i can.

There are a ton of great players from smaller sg's. I just felt that a majority of people would ultimately be left out because of the setting's. And, as you saw, you needed 8 people. I dont think smaller teams would have gotten through it perhaps as quicky. I spoke with Stray, it took them aaaaa lllooooottttt longer with only 4 people.

If the settings had remained as previously set, how many teams would there have been VS how many she had?

I think she made the right choice to make it more open. A lot of us were able to participate, I had a kick a$$ team and it was enjoyable... and, she had more people show up.. thats a win win.

If you stop to think about it, the point she wanted to make was to have people working together, as a team.. what better way than to PUG it.. now thats not easy.. getting 8 people that dont team together to do well and actually pull off a decent time... that was great leading and team work.

Sometimes suggestions (ok or gentle bit**ing) work to benefit us all.. I know they have me and im sure they will for future events.

I do admit perhaps I could have chose a less bi*chy way to come across.. for that, i apologize.

I thought we did pretty well. Considering we did it with 4 people. (Ty Shadow, Stray, and Purp!)

The mission itself wasnt the 'challenging' kind of tough, it was the 'unfun' kind of tough. The real AVs from real content (all the arachnos and such) were FAR easier than the ridiculous custom made AVs (that were lowered to EBs, since there were only 4 of us). It isn't hard to create a mission that's nearly impossible to beat, anyone can do that, creating a mission that's challenging, but not stupid like the one we were given to do is something else, and what sets good missions apart from bad ones, even if the goal in mind is to create something difficult. We also spent around 80-90% of our time either A) searching for the next one to fight because someone didnt give them dialogue, or B) killing off the ridiculously overpowered non AV/EB Customs.

The lag didn't help either. I was getting like 2 fps the entire time.

If you plan on running the same mission again in the future for the bigger event, Tone it down a bit. Just because you can set everything to extreme/extreme at lvl 54 doesnt mean it is a good mission. There's a difference between difficult and stupid.

I would agree in some regards, I would say we had more trouble with the non-AV mobs than the AV ones, partially because the AVs kept running all over the map and aggroing all these other groups, then we would have to fight more than needed to clear the AV's group. At the very least, an indoor map would've gone a long way at making this more enjoyable.

But yes, even with targeting binds, we spent more time searching than actually fighting, mainly because the map chosen has a lot of places for them to hide just out of view.

The event was meant for large sg's with pro players to get out and have fun and to encourage smaller sg's to make more friends.

In the TEST mission a scrapper finished it in 45 minutes solo, so more AV's were added in the main event. It was a matter of being prepared but no sg came out with a team to do so. The challenge was not set up for a PuG, but we tried it anyways. Great work by those who came out and tried anyways.

Im just going to stop responding to your comments because I know you will never stop pooping on our events. If you don't have CONSTRUCTIVE criticism, keep it to yourself.

Constructive criticism:

++Should be on a smaller and/or indoor map.
++AVs should have dialogue. (mainly to let people know where they are. If all they said was "hi" it would still be much better)
++Non-AV Customs should be toned down or taken out if its really meant to be about the AVs.
++Everything doesn't need to be set to extreme/extreme
++Everything doesn't need to fly.
++Should standardize difficulty requirement so that AVs spawn as AVs and not EBs
++ Dark Miasma is pretty broken in AE, might wanna look into that.
++The SG that hosts an event like this generally doesnt participate.

The point of running an event, IMO, is to let as many people as possible participate, and make the event fun for as many people as possible.

Making a mission easier still means whoever is the best will still be able to do it fastest, but at the same time it removes the impossibility factor for weaker teams. So that it still possible for weaker teams to still be able to compete and have fun, even if it takes them a bit longer.

This post never should've been made honestly. I spoke out of anger and used much harsher words than I should have. Out of respect for something that should've stayed between the involved parties, I'm choosing to edit this post and delete the following ones.

Yes, I know it was technically Felecia's event, but you said it yourself:

These aren't just her events, they're your events as well.

I just want to point out that this is the exact reason we had a test run.

I normally stay out of the "run your event this way" crap because I hate when people gripe in my threads. I will say that Dave was on my team, was not leading it in any way and I am pretty confidant he didnt help the team any more than anyone else would have. With that being said, SG members shouldn't be allowed to participate in a competition being ran in an SG's name. Just my opinion, I didn't care either personally. However it can lead to drama from those who do care. Precisely why I very seldom run events in my SG's name, that way they can participate without risk of drama.

In retrospect (because of Kat's comment) I do want to say that all of my posting in this thread (ignoring the back-and-forth between DaveMebs and myself) is simply meant to be suggestions that I feel would help out. I am in no way wishing to tell someone how to run their event because otherwise I would be running one myself. Simply put, I understood this test run as a chance to garner feedback, so I was offering mine.

Yep.

Ragequitting is fun too though.

Stray Kitten your comments were helpful and i don't think Dave is trying to vent at you. You did contribute greatly to the event. His anger is directed at the many others who could have and do not care to participate.

The comment about AOW not gettting involved is wronge. 1/4 of the people in the event were in AOW. As for not letting them be involved is also wronge since this event is meant to be open to anyone and it would not be fair ESPECIALLY to our members to exclude them.

We have tried really hard to help get EVERYONE involved and help the server. People call it grandstanding, we call it putting our money where our mouths are and actually putting words in to ACTION!

Unfortunately, there are way to few other people willing to do so, this shows how pathetic all the other sg's and people are. No one takes time to help each other. This event shows how bad PuG's really are.

All AOW events are now for members only including the AOW 25 MILLION CC, we will hold 2 events per week for members only. The public does not deserve our support!

If you want to actually get involved and build a better community then join ALL-OUT-WAR!
Your WORDS mean nothing, your ACTIONS do!

THAT IS ALL!

Devs when you see this message please erase all threads with AOW in the title.
