Major Frustration

I get mezzed, I hit my button to switch to dwarf, I get hit by another mez during the form shifting animation.

And I am mezzed again and have to hit the form shift button AGAIN, and hope that I don't get hit by Another mez. Meanwhile I'm taking tons of damage because my toggles are suppressed.

This bug is making me very frustrated.

I'm not so sure it's a bug.

Suggestion, bind Dwarf to an easily reachable key, and just stare at where your "Stunned" or "Held" message will go, and if you see it come up while trying to toggle, press the button.

Use binds on the numeric pad for the forms
1. human
2. nova
3. dwarf

This way you can mash the button until you are in the form you desire

The bind solution from _dEOS_ is the way I have set mine up, and probably the easiest (I use z = human, x = nova and c = dwarf).

While it is frustrating when multiple mezzes stop you switching forms (Especially when it gets you killed) this is the simplest way to work through it, just hammer the key until you change!

We shouldn't have to do that.

If we are meant to be able to switch to Dwarf when mezzed then getting mezzed ought not to have an effect on an attempt to switch to Dwarf.

It's a bug. It should be fixed.

This was driving me nuts over the weekend, I ended up having to hammer on my keybind until I actually shifted. It didn't quite get me killed, but it was close on a few occasions

Oh I completely agree, sadly I think it is a side effect of the mez system (Just from what I have read on the forums, not sure if it is speculation or dev confirmed but it makes sense) which would mean a massive amount of work to fix and I don't hold out a great deal of hope for it, which leaves us to make the best of a bad situation.

If a Scrapper or Stalker or Brute or Tanker or Arachnos mez protection power wasn't Working right it would get fixed Very quickly.

Why is the Kheldian mez protection power treated differently?

Perhaps it is because that's the only thing that actually brings some measure of challenge and strategy to the AT?

Seriously though, if you're coming under such heavy mezzing attacks without a Break Free, or other team-members to support you, or without working out some keybinds to make things easier, then perhaps you are chewing more than you can handle?

Personally, I enjoy the fact that there is some danger when I'm shifting forms. If I were constantly mez-protected, or I knew there was no way the enemy could ever overwhelm me, I'd probably just abandon the character for lack of interest.

Eh 1 = Nova 2 = Dwarf and 3 = Human
Much better

Thing is it's not a bug. At least not in the traditional sense of the word "bug"

Rather, the form shifting issue you described is the result of a quirk in the way powers work. Dwarf Form isn't an instant activation toggle. Rather, the effects of the power (Including the mezz protection) don't kick in until the 3s animation time is finished. That's why you can be interrupted while in the process of shifting.

As I said in another post, Kheldians not reaping the benefits of their forms instantaneously is intended by the Devs as a means of giving the AT a vulnerability. That's why they continue to reject proposals to reduce the animation time on Nova and Dwarf forms.

You seem to have missed my point.

I don't expect to have the mez protection instantaneously.

The power is supposed to be activatable when mezzed.

Therefore it should activate even if mezzes are incoming. Mezzes should have no efffect on its activation. Like Blaster level 1 attacks.

It's a bug. You can call it a design oversight if you want, or a difficult to fix issue, but it's still a bug.

Wavicle is right, when the Kheld buffs came along an issue or three ago the Dwarf change was supposed to happen regardless of any mezzes or stacking of mezzes.

So you have written word from the Devs that this phenomenon we're experiencing is or is not a bug? I'd love to see where the Devs actually state that while transforming from Human to Dwarf, subsequent mez effects — following the original one that mezzed the Kheldian — should not reset the transformation.

There are a TOOOON more challenges out there for Khelds than just mez protection. Actually, I don't even consider mezzing a "challenge." All you have to do is hit a break free. There's no challenge to that. Now, mezzing aside, the TRUE challenge is really switching forms... Say your eclipse drops while you're fighting a large mob in Nova form, and you want to get your eclipse back up. Switching to human form, dropping into the middle of the group, getting an eclipse off (and maybe a stygian circle, depending on the circumstances) and changing back to nova without being killed is certainly a challenge, especially on invincible. Being mezzed? Meh. It's either hit a break free and keep fighting, or just sit there and wait to be killed while you're mezzed. Not much of a challenge. I'd actually say that's more of a frustration than an actual "challenge."

To each his own, I guess. I'd prefer to have mez protection myself, so I could apply my time to actual challenges, like setting up a "how long will he survive?" situation for my WS with constant ambushes (while solo)....Or, maybe an all-Kheld task force...Or, soloing an AV... You know, REAL challenges. Being mezzed a challenge? C'mon. Please. :P

The challenge is not about being mezzed or avoiding it, the challenge is how you adapt to changing circumstances, and you yourself have said as much already.

Now, about all Kheldian task forces... well, why don't you join the UI on Infinity and join us for some? So far, I've done an All Kheldian ITF (on Liberty, because that's where most of us had high-level Kheldians at the time) and an All Kheldian TV Respec TF, and we're working on getting the UI up in levels so we can do ITFs on Infinity and one day, perhaps the STF as well.

They don't need to explicitly state it.

They explicitly stated that Dwarf form can be activated while mezzed.

Unless they say otherwise, anything that interferes with that is a bug.

Period.

Which is what the power does. Dwarf Form is activatable while mezzes are on you and, just like any other toggle power, if you are mezzed during the activation of the power, it is stopped and the power has to recharge and be retoggled.

Do I like it this way? No
Is it a bug? I'm not sure, but not likely.
Would I change it if I could? You bet.

Maybe Xenite has a disagreement with my definition of the word bug.

A bug is anything that doesn't work properly, regardless of whether it's because of a newly created accident or a previously existing problem that has yet to be fixed.

We were told that we can switch to dwarf form when mezzed. In practice this isn't always true. That makes it a bug.

I'd love to be involved in one of your all-Kheld TFs, but alas, all 3 of my Khelds are on Freedom... Because I've spent well over 6 billion on builds (both builds on all 3 for a total of 6 builds) and several hundred play hours between the 3 of them, I don't really have much motivation to roll another on a different server, as you can imagine...

Now, if the Devs came up with a way to do a "mass" transfer of all toons plus your supergroup and prestige to another server, I'd take advantage of that in a heartbeat.

Yes it is. Mezzes will not prevent you from activating Dwarf form. You can toggle it on as much as you want no matter how many mezzes are on you. However, mezzes landing will interrupt its activation.

I get what you're saying. You want the power to be uninterruptable. That's fine (I'd certainly enjoy it) but its not the same as the argument you're making.

I'm not contesting the definition of 'bug'. I am simply saying that until we have confirmation that the Dwarf-toggle interruptibility is in fact a bug, assuming that it is, seems rather premature and futile, at least to me.

From here, the Devs can either tell us that it is in fact an unintended and unfortunate consequence of the Dwarf-toggle's interruptibility, admit it's a bug and fix it. Or, they can simply say it's not a bug but rather a feature.

Either way, I wouldn't call this issue a major frustration.

Actually, I can't imagine doing that myself because I'm not as focused on builds but rather on strategy and gameplay. What you describe though is exactly what I hated about WoW and feared would happen in CoX once the Invention system came to be: Gear makes people stationary and not want to play and do anything that involves making new characters.

That would be awesome, but in the meantime, how about we wait until the Test Server opens up to the public again and then do Lv50 TF's there? We could all just copy our characters there and TF till the end of time! Deal?

Heck! Now that I think of it, we could use this as an Event to show people how awesome Kheldians truly are, and let them come cheer us on in Cimerora for example between ITF missions!
