Only if i go to the one in Atlas. If people would actually leave there and find other AE spots to play, Atlas may not be so dang laggy. I've yet to DC at a WW in Talos or Steel.

Memory. Plain and simple. You have too little, the integrated video is stealing some of it and you have a whole lot of stuff running in the background. What happens is the game is liberally using the page file because by itself is using 1GB or so. When you try to bring up the Wentworth's UI the game needs to make room and the drive light stays on as the OS is trying to find enough infrequently used 4KB chunks of real memory, the stuff you don't have a lot of, to swap out to make room. It turns out that all that page swapping causes the game to stop talking back to the server. After two minutes of that the server boots you.

Now there are a few things you can do, annoying as they are.

0) Shut down or exit out as much stuff as possible before starting the game. Save your real memory for the game, not a dozen or so of "helper" apps sitting in your tool tray next to your clock.

1) Use /unloadgfx before clicking on a WW employee. This causes the game to load only the graphic objects and textures in the local area.

2) Shop at a empty WW. I find Kings Row to be a pretty empty place. Why? Because players with their multitude of costume items are a big memory hog.

3) Shop as soon as you start the game and login. I rarely had problems when playing over at my parent's house with their 512MB wonder.

4) Last ditch, exit the game completely while in WW and restart it. This is about as minimal memory usage you will see. Just exiting to the login screen doesn't flush all the resources the game has loaded while you've been playing.

5) The obvious fix but it will cost you some money is to buy more memory.

FatherXmas is completly correct on this - I frequently had disconnects/long freezes before adding to my RAm - and I barely notice the delay now when opening the market interface.

Another thing that might help, and is something I sometimes use when I know I'm going to be doing a lot of work around many other people (raids, etc) is to log out and reload the game in safemode. This drops all your graphics to bare minimum so it'll look like hell, but it works especially in high-traffic areas like WW. Just don't open the options menu while you're in it unless you don't mind readjusting all your settings when you go back to the full game hehe

Thanks for the help, ill be sure to try the suggestions out.

FatherXmas, I presume you mean shopping at WW's by doing it right after starting the game. My 512MB Wonder could run CoH in i3 when I started, but had major issues by the time i6 arrived. (Fortunately, I upgraded to a new computer with a couple GB of RAM by that time.) My 512MB wonder eventually got upgraded to its max of 1GB, and upon occasion, I still log on to it... what a mess. Just flying PAST WW's will make it pause and consider for a bit before I can continue past.

Well, them's was the days when 512MB and dialup could work reasonably well.

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

Not to repeat what the others have said because starting with Father Xmas, they are all right.

I had the same problem, annoyed me so much I could scream sometimes, especially when you have 10 mins or so to quickly log in and check sales. I used to log out in WW and do my stuff at log in, or I'd go to kings row blue side, or mercy island red side where it's quiet, many a time I've screamed at other players with their shadow fall, hasten, ouro portals, kheld forms and other stuff lol, but in reality it was all my problem.

I had 1GB of old memory, I replaced it with 4GB of newer memory, now I click on a WW employee and my sales pop up instantly, it's awesome lol, I advise you to purcahse atleast one more stick of memory, 2GB would see you right.

Good luck!

I dual box using a fast and slow pc and the visits to the black market take noticably longer - just clicking the shady figurine on my old and slow pc freezes the game for about 30 seconds and then the listings pop up and that's with 1 gig of ram >.<. I do have the occasional crash but I get them on both systems.

640k ought to be enough *cough* And look now ... we're counting in terrabytes already.

Wow! I do appreciate all the info in this thread! And it's nice to see a logical explanation as to what happens when you DC after clicking on the WW employee.

My thanks to you all! :-)

Yep, currently connected at 45.2Kbps. There are some drawbacks living away from civilization.

If you could, grab a copy of this program here (http://home.roadrunner.com/~dasloth/CoH/CoHHelper.html) and run it, make a new thread and post the results there. It'll be a lot easier to help you with all your information.

EDIT: Also the advice about trying a WW in a less populated zone is also applicable in your case. Atlas Park is extremely busy.

EDIT #2: You might want to post in the technical issues forum instead. They're more qualified to help with those sorts of issues
