New Forum - Quick n Dirty Tips

Quick notes about the Ignore feature, which is different from the old forums.

So, you go into the User CP, then scroll down to Edit Ignore List.
There will be a box to type in the name of the poster you wish to ignore.
Start typing thier name and as soon as you put in the first three letters, it will give you a drop-down list of posters. This list has a limit, so if at first you don't see the poster's name, don't worry, it will edit as you get a fourth, fifth, etc. letter in.
You can click on a name in this drop-down or type the full thing out, then click to confirm.

Once the first, and any subsequent names are in your ignore list, you will have the option to edit the list at any time by unchecking/checking thier names in the list.

Oddly, if you put in your own name into the ignore list, you will recieve the error message "We can't help you ignore yourself".

You can add yourself as a contact, but not as a friend, which gives you the error message "You can't be friends with yourself". Although as a contact, apparently you can leave visitor messages and send PM's to yourself.

I'm having a new issue and I wonder if it's just me.

New threads created after a certain date are not being marked as read for me, no matter what. Older threads that I'm subscribed to that are older than a couple days will work fine. But all new threads, even if I click the thread, click "go to first unread," click last page, or even POST in the threads will stay "unread" and always always take me to the very first post.

Like I said, older threads work fine, but newer ones just plain don't change off of unread. It's really annoying when there are a bunch of threads in my subscriptions that are marked as totally unread, and clicking "go to first unread" takes me to the OP, even if I've made several posts in the thread.

Not only have I closed my browser to try and fix this, but I completely rebooted. Anyone else having this issue?

I've had this issue from day one, and found a workaround. Whenever you are "done" with your current viewing of the boards, LOG OUT.

Then when you come back, log back in again. Everything that you've viewed in that session should be marked as read. Try it out and tell me if it works for you please.

I'll give that a shot, though...

That's annoying, since then it marks EVERYTHING as unread and I have a subscription list of over 100 threads which will all take me to the first post until I "read" it. As an OCD person, I insist on clicking through every thread so they show as read.

After testing it, it seems to have worked, as one of the previously persistant threads allowed me to click it twice and go to a later post in the thread than the first post.

*sets to work clicking the last page on 103 threads*

I'm actually surprised that this is still here, AND stickied no less.

The people love you, man.

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

Nos, I can read all of your post without highlighting anything, and yes, I'm using the Hero Style.

Of course, I'm also using an add-on that strips color tags from text (some of it got downright hard to read).

And anyone that is using the Villain Style would be able to read it as well, so it's not really an effective tactic. Some people have switched temporarily to the Villain Style since their is broken code on the Hero Style.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

For people who don't strip the color from posts, it is hard to read on both Hero and Villain colors. Basically, it requires highlighting to read, a form of spoiler protection.

For people who strip color from posts (*raises hand*) nothing short of a custom "collapsible box" code will work for spoiler tagging -- and that's just one more thing for the Seattle web team to maintain (or rather -- NOT maintain) and screw up.

How the hell do I get rid of those tacky bold OP names in the thread list? Bold means "new posts!" and has since we switched over to vB so my brain is getting repeatedly tricked! TRICKED, I SAY!

Highlight to read:

Use the color #364D5D and your text will be invisible until marked... as you´ve just seen for yourself
I think I'm going to do this to everything I post from now on, lol.
