Warning: GS Not = GM

Ok, with the french and german servers down, funny people seem to be back.

I was approached by a GS somthing GS (somthing was not his name, just men censoring it) pretending to be some sort of junior volunteer GM sort'a type. "There will be an announcement within 24h on the forum". and he just kept going, wouldn't stop.

Of course I petitioned him, and so did several others, and all of a sudden he appologized and wanted to be my "friend".

...so just a gentle warning. Don't believe anything unless it's a real, live GM (and they're very easy to spot, although very rare)

Heed what SingStar says. Report any suspicious character by using the /petition slash command. Don't be afraid to petition, even those you thing might be genuine GMs. They can easily investigate all impersonnations and sanction accordingly (and make the difference GMs and non-GM characters).

All real GMs have red names in big letters, don't they?

[/ QUOTE ]

GM's have an underscore (_)in their name.

i.e.
GM_Sally
GM_Robert
GM_Tina

In-game, GM's will have a different colored name (red) *only* if they are a member of a Global Chat channel (visible when you bring up the Channel Member list of the Global Channel).

If a GM is talking in Local chat, Broadcast, etc, their name appears normally (like any other player).

...but when they send private tells, they're not in yellow!

You are not talking about giant monsters, are you? But I'm played pretty much and never seen gamemasters in game. Perhaps they are just urban legends.

That's correct. When a GM ("Game Master", not "Giant Monster" ) sends a /tell to a player, the tell *may* appear in Blue, instead of Yellow....but the underscore in the GM_Name is the most important visible clue of a real GM. Underscores are not available to players for their character names.

<edited to Note that GM tells may not always appear Blue>

Does that apply to red names on the boards too?

I thought GG was funny.

He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
