See, I don't read it that way. Now, I'm not a MAC user, so please excuse me if I've got this wrong.

What that says to me is that OS X Tiger is not supported by the client. When Snow Leopard is released, it will be supported by the client, which may result in users who have Tiger failing to be able to access City of Heroes, probably due to some client incompatibility issues between Tiger and Snow Leopard.

Essentially, it's saying "Upgrade - we support the upgrade. If you don't, you might not be able to play the game."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Even though they can right now? (I'm not an expert on how Mac upgrades work, but that seems an odd way to do it)

    [/ QUOTE ]

When the Mac edition of City of Heroes launched, OS X Leopard was the official Mac operating system supported. Although players "could" use OS X Tiger, we did not officially support that operating system.

When Snow Leopard launches, and we integrate support for Snow Leopard, Mac players who are using Tiger OS X may not be able to use City of Heroes.

The patch note was put in place to remind OS X Tiger users that Tiger is not officially supported, and warn them that once Snow Leopard comes out, we will not support any Tiger compatibility issues.

...but when they send private tells, they're not in yellow!

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's correct. When a GM ("Game Master", not "Giant Monster" ) sends a /tell to a player, the tell *may* appear in Blue, instead of Yellow....but the underscore in the GM_Name is the most important visible clue of a real GM. Underscores are not available to players for their character names.

<edited to Note that GM tells may not always appear Blue>
  3. [ QUOTE ]
All real GMs have red names in big letters, don't they?

    [/ QUOTE ]

GM's have an underscore (_)in their name.

    i.e.
    GM_Sally
    GM_Robert
    GM_Tina

In-game, GM's will have a different colored name (red) *only* if they are a member of a Global Chat channel (visible when you bring up the Channel Member list of the Global Channel).

If a GM is talking in Local chat, Broadcast, etc, their name appears normally (like any other player).

Well to be honest i cant really think of a better time frame to do this for us EU players, this is actually affecting the US side of things a LOT more than it would us.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There was some internal discussion whether we should have deployed the 19.20090619.5T2 build to the EU servers at the same time as it was deployed to the North American servers....but we recognized that since EU was entering prime-time hours, that disruption to all EU customers with 30 minutes of warning was unacceptable.

The compromise was to push back the publish of 19.20090619.5T2 to 12 midnight (past EU peak time), and within operational development hours of Paragon Studios so that in the event of any other issues on Vigilance or Zukunft, we had time to address them before Thursday EU Prime-time.

    i15 Update

    [ QUOTE ]
Everyone is invited to the 'closed' beta, therefore it's not closed, as it's wide open.

GF says there is no closed beta, which is then true. Sorta.

As nomenclature differences in this game from the rednames goes, that's pretty much on the lowest of the low scales, and I don't think you can derive "ZOMG THE DEVS DON'T SPEAK TO EACH OTHER!' from it at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

We most definitely speak to each other.

To clarify my post on the North American forums, we will have a "Beta", but it is not a Closed Beta.

Any "active" (subscribed/paid-up/non-expired trial) account will have access to the Issue 15 Beta.

NOTE: In the case of a Trial Account, normal Trial Account limitations will be in place, so the Beta experience will be limited.

    Q. Will it be available for Mac as well as PC upon launch?

    That is the plan. Yes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I can't give any hints...Our Marketing/PR departments would pummel me..., and then Positron would probably follow up with an "Enervating Field+Radiation Infection+Lingering Radiation+Aim+Proton Volley" combo on me.

what again they really need to do something about these US maintenance times I would have thought the entire point of having a EU division was so that you could better schedule things.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I concur.

It is one thing to have patches like this but I am playing on a EU server and I expect EU friendly maintenance times. If they cna tgive us that, then I want to have the US benefits. More people, more servers, a forum that devs read etc.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The publish/build deployment was planned for today, but I had scheduled it an hour earlier than the North American window, so as not to run into the EU prime-time hours.

The latest patch (Build 18.20090422.5T) contained Mission Architect changes, and due to the global nature of the system, we have to keep both regions in sync..., hence the simultaneous publish.

The other option was to delink EU from the global Mission Architect system, but much like the Global Consignment House/Black Market houses, I don't think that would go over too well.

When a new build is deployed that is not Mission Architect dependent, the normal early EU publish windows will most definitely be adhered to.

I've spoken to the Community team, and we'll make sure that any planned build deployments to the Live servers will be posted on the Server Status page.

My apologies that this particular publish had not been communicated earlier or more visibly.
