Power Choices for a Crab

Well I've got a Crab in the late 40s and I've got a lot of powers to pick! I was hoping a few of the more experienced soldiers might be able to answer me a few questions.

1. Just how useful are the spiderlings really? Eventually I reckon I'll have them perma but I don't hugely notice their damage input.

2. Is Heavy Burst worth the redraw on my Crab? I don't really have issues with pulling out the gun, and I know it's a good attack.

3. What's the feeling on Arm Lash? It looks like a fun power with decent damage.

Thanks in adavnce

I got all the pets and theyre worth it imho they have nice damg and do take off some aggro from u.

ive stuck to all the arm powers so i got no redrawal.

and ive good all range so i can say about arm lash tbh, but from what ive seen i dont think its tht great for other powers u can get but then i havent had it remember

1) Very useful.

2) Varies per person, some love it, some hate it. It's not a bad power choice if you treat it as an extra cone with a very lengthy animation (as in, counting draw time into the animation time).

3) It's pretty much the one melee power Crabs have that doesn't suck compared to the ranged ones. While a Crab should be far away from mobs most of the time, Arm Lash isn't a bad power if you have the space for it.

Spiderlings are your little meatshields. Shooty and with -def. Take em, love em, bless their spiky little arms.

Personally I skipped out on Heavy Burst. With crabs, make sure you have the Venom - Frag - Suppression combo, even if it comes in late. Very effective.

Arm lash is the most damaging Crab melee power, I think. Frenzy does AoE, but a bit less damage, and more end cost.

[/ QUOTE ]PBAoE, light damage, heavy endurance cost, long animation. Not worth taking if you ask me.

'Light'? Its only a bit less then Arm Lash. And PBAoE, while Lash is a rather awkward cone. Unless I've missed a chunk of something?

Right, thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated - I feel my AoE output without Heavy Burst is perfectly acceptable, and I'll definitely be keeping my spiderlings, how about the "reinforcement" Arachnobot BLasters?

Walking tanks. When all you need to do is hit venom nade and suppression to chew up a mob, you know your chittering little minions are working right
Honestly, holds, more -def, decent damage and tough. Sure they cant be perma (shame) but they are dead hitty.
Five pets is fine, if you really want all 6 Id reccomend getting Maces AoE Immob, great for really locking down mobs for the slaughter.

more -def

[/ QUOTE ]You mean -End, they use electrical blasts. They're extremely useful, though.

Getting a patron pet in addition to the normal 5 is well worth it, if you ask me.

I run my crab with 'lings and disruptors both. They're not much in terms of damage output, but solo, they're great for diverting enemy attention and are still handy against harder targets, not to mention you can slot an extra proc bonus or two in them to beef up the Disruptors' survivability.

My crab is built as a force multiplier (all the SoA toggles, double assault), so I took Heavy Burst, and slotted it (and Suppression) with the Achilles Heel Chance for -Res proc, which is super-handy in fights - my opening AoE salvo of Venom/Suppression/Heavy Burst/Ball Lightning is usually enough to beat the hell out of minions and leave Lts and Bosses with -def and -res - and everyone else can wipe 'em out easily.

It's *one* way to go with a crab...

course you'll need to farm from now till doom's day to afford the build but there perma. i think even the patron pet is perma well at least its recharge is under its duration but I'm not sure if there wont return within 15 mins is hard wired or not.

also your pretty much reduced to a walking buff bot for your pets with only 4 attacks but then with a lovely cycle of venom grenade / suppression with the odd Omega thrown in do you need more
