useful and useless pet commands?
Well I find I only use Passive with Stay, cause defensive and aggressive mean the pets go nuts if someone attacks me. So I'd drop the other Stay's
"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"
Cool... Thanks alot

In fact, you can ditch all the stay commands and just use goto.
A goto command on their current location is as near as dammit identical to a stay command.
I'm talking from the PoV of a Robotics/Traps MM, but I have only every needed 3 macros and one bind to control my pets.
The macros are Follow Aggressive, Follow Passive, Goto Aggressive, and a bind on the forward button on the side of my mouse for Attack Aggressive.
If I need my pets to go somewhere and do nothing, then I use the Goto Aggressive macro to put them somewhere with no mobs nearby and manually set them to passive using the pet window commands.
Unfortunately I have zero experience of Necro, so the playstyle of a Necro MM may be so completely unlike that of a bots MM that my experience is totally useless.
Good luck figuring out a playstyle that works for you though, as that's all the really matters.
(PS I don't use Bodyguard mode, either.)
Warning:
The above post may contain Cynicism, sarcasm and/or pessimism. If you object to the quantities contained, then tough.
I used to use the Numeric Control system for my MMs, but it was a bit too fiddly for me.
Instead now I tend to cluster my henchies into grouped commands for a few different "stances", bound to the bottom row of the keyboard, and it's a lot easier.
b is Follow Defensive mode for everyone (Bodyguard), n is Passive Goto mode for everyone (when I want to pull and prepare an ambush without my pets running to my aid), v is Attack Aggressive for everyone (Gank em mode). After that I've got "Attack Aggressive" commands for each tier (z for zombies, x for knights, c for Lich) and two Goto Aggressive commands : One for the knights, to get the broadsword attacks going, one for one lone zombie for "Go and die so I can rip out your soul". And one bodyguard mode for Zombies (in case I need it or a zombie goes legging it off). That gives me just enough to get them to do whatever I want, for the most part, and fits nicely along the bottom row of the keyboard (I used the bottom row since I play on a laptop without a number pad).
So :
/bind z petcompow "Zombie Horde" attack aggressive
/bind x petcompow "Grave Knights" attack aggressive
/bind c petcompow "Lich" attack aggressive
/bind v petcomall attack aggressive
/bind b petcomall follow defensive
/bind n petcomall goto passive
/bind m petcompow "Zombie Horde" follow defensive
/bind lcontrol+lbutton petcompow "Grave Knight" goto aggressive
/bind lalt+lbutton petcomname "Grey" goto aggressive
So you can hold left Control and Click a position to move the Knights to that spot. I do this to move them beside an enemy I'm targetting and once they get there I hit x to get them to attack him with their sword attacks (the Sword attacks are much, much better than the Dark Blasts the knights have). Once i14 goes live you may not need to do this as much as you currently do, they should be better at closing in and using their swords.
Note that in the final bind my sacrifical lamb zombie is called Mr Grey so holding left alt and clicking a location makes him run to that location and attack anything nearby, absorbing the alpha and getting himself nicely killed so you can use Soul Extraction on him to make a Spirit.
Mine are quite identical to Carni, although i'm a /trap wich include detonate. So a grant invis, send pet in and go boom, while having flash-nades as alpha takers.
Mine are all bind to my mouse, having 2 buttons combined with shift, ctrl and alt-clickies. (normal is goto/attack, shift is pet-specific goto, ctrl is follow 2 style, alt is def/agro mode - passive i just click the icon in my tray).

Oooo, this is great =) Thanks alot... Im definately gonna try these out.
In the window with all the pets health bars I have nicked the icons from it and put them in my tray.
I have Goto with the icon of 3 circles within eachother. Follow as normal and just as Follow. Aggressive, Defensive and Passive only as them and Stay has the Hand icon. Attack is simply attack. Its basic in order to keep the number of macros down as with more macros I can tell any single pet to do anything the others won't.
To split them up 1 by 1 which differs from splitting them on tiers I could select a Pet and then use a Macro which reads:
$Petcom_<Any command you like>
Now that pet could be my Brute out of my Thugs or just one of any of the others. Handy on making a near dead bot you want to detonate walk into mobs alone before kablooey if your say Bots/FF. If one gets stuck or falls off an edge then I can tell that one to Dismiss itself on its own before bringing mobs back with it or without it. Or for getting any Pet with clicky or toggle AoE on them where they need to be.
Pretty simple, means I got lots of options and as few macros to know about as poss. Which is good when you got altitis.
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
I don't use numpad commands on my mastermind. I use the teleport binds, combined with left shift, left ctrl, and left alt, in order to move minions, lieutenants and the boss around. I use a five button mouse with the two extra buttons to command either the bruiser (since I'm thugs), or the other five henchmen to attack. In addition, I keep the standard three commands given to you at the very start. :3

Hi,
I just started a necro/dark MM. Unfortunately my experience with MMs is equal to zero.
I was thinking of making macro buttons for all the pet commands im gonna use and each group get their own button panel. But each group gets 12 combinations and there is only room for 10 so I need to remove atleast 2 combinations from each group.
Some of these combinations look kindo silly but still Im not sure which one are useful and which ones are not.
If anyone would be so kind and help me sort these out Id be very happy.
I've added these for reference btw...
