Bored Phase
[ QUOTE ]
All NWN 2 lovers try Storm of Zehir and talk again.
Also NWN OC can't be boring... one word for you... Aribeth. Hmm well Sharwyn and Tomi, too. Well and Valen...
Yeah Moms... Obsidian! Bah!

Remember they are the reincarnation of Black Isle and thus responsible for quite a bit of Baldurs Gate 2 as well (not the technical side though thankfully!).
But NWN 1 Bioware spent so long designing a "make your own adventure" system they forgot to add a decent OC (although it got better once you got out of "explore each city zone" phase and into the proper action). And the first expansion is fairly rubbish as well.
Hordes was great though.

Even if Monks were hilariously overpowered. Not that beating ancient, godlike hellbeasts to death with your bare hands wasn't fun though.

Nothing beats trying to romance Viconia in Baldurs Gate 2.

What about trying to talk to Anomen without vomiting?

That's not really a very good way to have a relationship though
He does actually improve a bit, but you have to wade through the bad romance novel stuff at the start before you get to it

She was annoying - I used a hack to access the female romances too - and for some reason, there were three available, but only one male

Did you see Elanie or that paladin dude from NWN 2? Aside from their horrible look and voice, that lady even made me a druid hater.
@Carnifax:
Oh HotU was great. I loved details they put into game, like Valen's poems or rescuing Aribeth or that little funny goblin you rescue. Also having Sharwyn and Deekin again was a big plus. I think this is the only game i can't decide which henchmen i want carry with me.
Only reason I keep returning is because the game has reached a phase where it's very polished in the really important parts, like chat tabs, team system etc. It's rather ugly, but it works so well compared to other games I've tried.
Yet there's still bugged hostages, MM bots getting stuck all the time, sync bugs etc, not to mention the ever-lasting non-firing rooting nemesis staff (and some other powers).
I've found that I'm amazed when I go play some "regular" games, how good they are, well polished extremely good looking and fun, but I end up thinking they're not giving me anything since I play solo, no achievements, no bragging rights, no purples. So I tend to go back to CoX a bit too early because even if it's boring it's sort of rewarding.
The thing is to find a few other games you really like, and really take a break for one or two weeks. I've found that other MMOs doesn't work because 1. they're meeeeeeh and 2. utlimately they're sort of the same thing. (So my 2 poor Lotro alts are still lvl 20, rofl, and I really like that game, sort of)
I was a bit annoyed we're not getting actual new content in I14, but ended up trying a few arcs in MA. Ok, same dead boring maps, but everyone's rushing to make new minions, liuts etc and fighting new foes (with same old powers) seems to be the biggest thing ever happened in the game. Every mob/mission might turn out to be a bit of a surprise. Sure it'll get old very fast, but with the 5-y anniversary coming up fast, I'm guessing we'll see... ...something.
...but ultimately... The game is 5 years old (almost) and many of us have been playing it for ages, without anything really special happening to the game (would probably make us hate it). That means we'll consider the game an old friend, something comfortable, sticking around for our in-game friends ultimately, not for the game itself. Some stick around because they've invested so much time/inf they can't let go, but we're all bound to be rather bored because we know pretty much everything just a bit too well.
The question is, what could they do to re-ignite the game? New graphics engine? I'd love it, but that would take a lot of effort redesigning all zones. New zones? Rather pointless. New SFs? Yeah, villains need it, but they'd grow ooold very fast. New ATs? Two weeks and they're lvl 50 and old news. New badges? Was already ruined with the stupid invention badges imho. New emotes? Needed, but won't do anything for the game really. Animated hair? Let's not get into it.
...d000m, basically!
Nothing beats trying to romance Viconia in Baldurs Gate 2. Aribeth is nothing, with Viconia you had to keep getting what looked like the worst possible result which would just turn out to be her being all in denial and stuff. You want people to just be nice to you woman, so here I am being nice. APPRECIATE IT!
